LeafByNiggle:
I never said that.
You did say this;
We don’t have to prove Chuavin acted out of racism to recognize racism as a statistical fact.
Yes, I did say that.
I think you have to prove he acted out of racism in attach it to any statistical fact about racism. Without evidence, Chauvin is irrelevant to a discussion of racism.
The killing of George Floyd is one data point in the statistic that shows racism. One does not need to prove racist intent in any one single case to conclude that racism exists, just as as one does not need to prove exactly which ingredient in cigarette smoke causes cancer to conclude from the statistics alone that cigarette smoking causes cancer.

recognize racism as a statistical fact.
The perceived “racism” is not surprisingly coming mainly out of leftist controlled cities which is just what I expect.

Why not post these “statistical facts” with whatever original study you think shows this (not a “news” outlet making the claim)?

Now morphing into this (about one post ago) . . .
One does not need to prove racist intent
.

As long as you never said racism was Chavin’s motive in the Floyd killing, at this point given the thread, I think you should just say what you think.

Do you think race was a factor for Derek Chauvin?
Or not?

Or as I do, that we just must wait until more details come out?

(In which case I will ask you why you brought up all the “racist” issues in the context of this here?)

That is false, unless you can show he acted out of racism.
One does not need to prove racist intent in any one single case to conclude that racism exists
But one cannot use not-racist data points to prove their is racism. So far, there is no evidence that Chauvin acted out of racism. If he didn’t, it isn’t racism.
There is, of course, racism. It comes from all sides.
just as as one does not need to prove exactly which ingredient in cigarette smoke causes cancer to conclude from the statistics alone that cigarette smoking causes cancer.
You can’t use an ingredient that isn’t in cigarettes to prove that they cause cancer.

For support that racism is a significant issue I will refer you to the American Bishops:

http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/human-life-and-dignity/racism/
Do you think race was a factor for Derek Chauvin?
As long as you understand this is just by opinion, I will say that if the man accused of passing a fake $20 bill had been white, I don’t think Derek Chauvin would have continued to kneel on his neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds, and I don’t think the other officers with him would have allowed him to continue like that if he wanted to.
(In which case I will ask you why you brought up all the “racist” issues in the context of this here?)
That’s the subject of the thread. Racial division.

Wrong. Read it again and think about it.
But one cannot use not-racist data points to prove their is racism.
You cannot call a single incident non-racist any more than I can call it racist. It is a data point that, when taken with all the other data points can indicate racism.
You can’t use an ingredient that isn’t in cigarettes to prove that they cause cancer.
Sorry you didn’t understand the analogy. No more lectures on statistics if you are not willing to listen.

Wrong. Read it again and think about it.
If he didn’t act out of racism, his event is not relevant to the race issue.
You cannot call a single incident non-racist any more than I can call it racist.
Of course you can. Is there evidence that he acted out of racism? Not yet. Until there is, it is not a race incident.
Since you referred @cathoholic to the bishops, I refer you to the eighth commandment.
Until
You have evidence he acted out of racism, we must assume race was not the motivation.
Sorry you didn’t understand the analogy. No more lectures on statistics if you are not willing to listen.
I understood it quite well, poor though it was.
Please, no more lectures on the misapplication of statistics.

Yet that is not what you said. And I have never denied “racism is a significant issue”.

I (and the conservatives) am one of the few people who keeps pointing it out here.

But society doesn’t want to hear it.

Why not?

Because the racism in large part, originates from the left. It always has.

And I have put up years of posts of evidence for this.

And the left despises themselves over things like this dehumanizing certain groups of people the way they do. So they psychologically project this part of themselves against “Trump”.

And of course the reason for this is their lack of self-control over their passions. This eventually results in pregnancies and since they can de-humanize certain groups of people, it results in abortion.

There is a whole cascade of issues that then come into play when the left does that.

But I agree with the Bishops on this.

.

But of course you did not claim any of this.
This is not what I was asking you about was it?

Here it is again.

And I am still waiting for this “statistical fact” that you are claiming.

I get that racism is real (most especially from the left, white or minorities), but I am interested in these phantom “statistics” and their genesis.

Fair enough. Your opinion.

I don’t have enough evidence to say one way or another.

There may be more than the $20.00 bill.

There may have been “jawing back and forth”.
Or maybe Derek likes to strongarm people.
He has a record of this in about 14 or 15 incidences that have been reported to the police department.

If a significant portion turn out to be white, it will just serve to diminish your conclusion. A conclusion that I think you have been led to by the leftist media narrative. (Unless you have some special information you are holding out on me on.)

That’s the subject of the thread. Racial division.
Absolutely.

I did not intend to suggest it doesn’t belong here on this thread.

My point was going in the direction of how you came to that conclusion.

And the only thing I can see (so far at least), is you must have drawn your conclusion from media reports that ASSUME this (Chauvin was motivated by racism.
Something nobody knows yet. Or at least have not even offered evidence of).

They may be right (but have no evidence so far. It will just be coincidental if they are correct and find out Chauvin’s actions were racist in motivation).

Or . . . They might not be right.

As I said above . . .
A conclusion that I think you have been led to by the leftist media narrative. (Unless you have some special information you are holding out on me on.)
That is the direction I was going.

Not that the racial division issue should be excluded from this thread.
