TV shows to watch

For my wife and myself, Call The Midwife is probably the best production ever put on TV.

It treats religion with respect and the context of the program is about life.

Some men can’t stand seeing a woman in labor, but myself, having been in the labor and delivery room, plus being in surgery to see my son delivered through C-Section, it’s all part of life.

I finished watching them all :cowboy_hat_face:

WestWorld & Deadwood too…

It’s no longer Gunsmoke & Little House on the Prairie style.

I dealt with plenty of women in labor at the hospital where I worked. Not my idea of entertainment and I wouldn’t recommend it recreated for TV. I understood their pain but didn’t overreact to it.

I tried WestWorld, but it was too confusing.

Even HBO rejected it three times before the writers updated their script.

The original WestWorld I understand was very good, but I never saw it.

You never saw the program I take it ?

It’s not about labor, but labor in childbirth is part of reality.

I’m a writer and editor with contacts in Hollywood, including a script editor. I would never call such a show “entertainment.” Seeing it firsthand is not something for the average public.

Well being you never saw the program Call the Midwife, so you have no clue about it’s quality.

Try it before you criticize it.

Masterpiece Theater - Victoria…pretty good history of the times of Queen Victoria. The most recent episode dealt with Irish potato famine and the protestant non response due to anti Catholocism. Not sure how accurate the depiction of Queen Victoria’s attitude towards the crisis was but will read more to get an idea.

Another British royalty historical drama The Crown on Netflix. Also pretty good but it also has received criticism for some revisionist history.

Don’t watch any other TV. I cut cable and mostly stream movies, EWTN or watch sports but if you want some fun entertainment check out youtube videos of the 2016 election night. There are some really good ones put together that show the liberal media happy smiling faces at the beginning of the night morphing into blank stares and what the heck happened looks as it became clear that President Trump had won lol. Then they start attacking each other on why this could have happened lol. Some other videos intersplice various predictions that Donald Trump will never be president (Obama, Pelosi, etc.) with the various moments when Trump was called winner of each state. Good stuff but also a stark description on how bias the liberal media is.

Psych, yes! Forgot about that. No gore, nothing anyone could object to. Funny, clever too.

Psych is one of my favorites, too. Although, you do have to somewhat gloss over the fact that he’s basically lying to almost everyone the entire time. 😝 But it is funny. I was glad to see they came out of retirement for “Psych: The Movie” back in December.

I’m watching currently…

WWE

Liverpool in Premier League & UEFA Champions League

Star Trek Discovery

Riverdale

Chicago (Fire, PD, Med)

Altered Carbon

The Crown

The Resident

LA to Vegas

This Is Us

Daytime US soaps

Catching up with older shows on streaming services such as…

Party of Five

Everwood

Star Trek Discovery? Bleh. Altered Carbon? Where humanity stops being human? Double bleh.

Some Daytime US soaps should be banned.

Is Discovery bad? I’ve not heard anything about it. For me the series peaked with TNG and bottomed out with Voyager… until Enterprise came along… man was that show boring.

For space adventures though, it’s gotta be SG-1. I wish that was on Netflix.

I tried watching but the stories are poorly told, the acting can be almost lifeless and just not very engaging. Sometimes, things are just not well thought out.

Blue Bloods is a great show. Not only is it just a good police show, but the focus on family through a Catholic lens is amazing. I love this show.

I know, but Catholics need to know what to watch out for and why. There are too many TV shows that depict bad behaviors that are presented as OK, or normal or average. Actresses portray characters that behave badly, along with actors. And it’s not “something to get used to.”

Agreed. There are several shows I want to watch but can’t justify all the terrible stuff in them… (Although I have to admit there are a couple I watch that I really shouldn’t >_>)
