How about The Great British Baking Show? Be advised that the comediennes who host it have been known to make off-color remarks, but they occupy little screen time. You can always mute them. The show itself is a feast for the eyes and good clean fun. The winner gets a nice crystal cake plate.

That sounds like fun! 🙂

Oh, it is. (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

Seasons 1-7 were on England’s public television. Season 8 supposedly is going to a commercial network … we’ll see.

But what other show can give you:

Drama! The bakers must choose whether to flavor with rosewater or rose petals during Botanicals Week!

Suspense! Will my game pie leak gravy?!?!

Heartbreak! (yes, it did.)

Victory! Anyone can earn Star Baker of the Week.

Etc.

Worth a look. 😋

I’ve been watching a lot of old westerns lately - Gunsmoke, Bonanza, The Big Valley. I find these a lot more interesting and entertaining than the majority of current shows.

I’m watching them so much that I want to start horseback riding lessons in the spring!

Hello.

The only problem I had with Call The Midwife is its view on contraception. Very enjoyable otherwise.

I’m watching Justified Season 1 but just to be clear I don’t care for NRA & their toxic politics.

I’m working my way through Rosemary & Thyme on Amazon Prime and it’s top notch. I love the combination of murder mystery, British humor, and really interesting and often historical gardening projects.

I have watched every episode of SG-1. and SG Atlantis. (There were one or two epsiodes of SG 1 I didn’t finish cause they were so silly, uber comedy that I thought they were kind of stupid.)

Super Saints, Miss Therese…“Super Saints” …a bit cheezy at times, but very edifying and inspiring. Time well spent.

Justified is an excellent show. Definitely has darker elements and very flawed characters, but they are very compelling.

It’s available on Amazon Prime.

My favorite SG-1 Episode is full of comedy. It’s the one where O’Neil and Teal’c get stuck in a time loop. The whole point after they realize there are no consequences is just awesome.

That’s maybe one I did not watch. But it sounds vaguely familiar. 😮 I got through almost half of some.

Poldarck. Not Catholic but good. It isn’t for young kids (due to boredom reason + 1 or 2 scenes) but it is prettying good on so many levels.

Try Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The producers nicknamed it “the Island of Misfit Toys.” It includes three or four religions (all from aliens). They all wrestle with questions of What Is Right To Do, and not all of them win that wrestling match.

Hate DS 9. 😛

Sorry, had to mention that. It’s so different from Star Trek. I never could get used to it. Kind of boring to me. More soap-opera like.

Try some of the non-fiction programs. Mysteries at the Museum and What on Earth (Science channel) are really intriguing. Fox Business Channel runs Strange Inheritance, about unusual things people inherit.

My Three Sons was so wonderful. Watch it early mornings on MeTV Channel.

If you’re prepared to either watch it on youtube or buy it on amazon, I really love Gomer Pyle: USMC. It’s one of the only family-appropriate show that I enjoy.
