Do you like being wrong?
Lets look at the facts:

2009 Total Federal Spending was: $3,517,677 (millions)
2010 Total Federal Spending was $3,457,079

So the democrats cut spending.
2011 the Republicans take the House $ 3,603,059 is government spending
2012 spending does fall a bit to: $3,537,127

Spending is projected to increase in 2013 and beyond. So neither party believes in small government.

So Bush skyrockets spending, Obama barely increases it, but since spending has already skyrocketed, the total amount of the increase in the deficit is well more…because of Republicans.

I worked for the Federal Government for over 30 years. We did not have a “balanced budget” under Newt Gingrich. A balanced budget MEANS NO DEBT. Since we were selling Treasury bills and savings bonds in the 1990s, there most certainly WAS debt.

The majority of the US debt is owned by the citizens of the United States, not China or any other foreign country.

Under Republican Presidents and Congresses Federal spending and employment increase. I know, because in those years we got raises and more equipment was bought or updated in our faciliities.

When we had Democratic Presidents with Republicans controlling Congress, budgets and staffing decreased. Federal offices functions stuttered or came to a halt due to lack of funding because the Republicans couldn’t be bothered to pass real appropriation bills, just fancy fake “budgets.”

For those who do not know this – passing a “budget” does not fund the Federal government. There are 13 appropriation bills that must be passed every year, on or before September 30th.

Up until 1978, this was a routine task, always done by September. In 1978, Chalmers P. Wylie, congressman from Ohio, decided to take one of the Federal appropriations bills hostage – and the Republicans have done this during every Democratic presidency since then.

Several times there have been partial shut downs. I wish the President would shut the ENTIRE government down on October 1st…no air traffic control, no weather reports, all the national parks closed, no Social Security checks…

I’d like to see the food stamp program totally revamped. No pre-packaged foods, no pop, no candy, no pre-packaged cakes, cookies, or other health destroying, diabetes creating junk food.

Poor Americans make the worst food choices, are the fattest, and need education and guidance, not a carte blanche to buy more junk at the supermarket. The only thing they are starving for is a balanced diet, which is totally doable on food stamps, I used them myself for four kids while going through nursing school.

It’s nice that your chart includes the Obama stimulus on the Bush budget considering he was out of office and retired when Obama signed it into law. But then their slogan is “Blame Bush”.

Do you notice at the bottom how it says “stimulus included re-assigned to obama?” Sooooo nope.

Country Gal – I agree with you on what SHOULD be allowed under Food Stamps. The problem is the Food Industry. They want their products to be allowed under SNAP…

And politicians get their campaign money from Big Business. Do you really think they’ll listen to us on this one?

I guess the forum rules about making up titles for articles no longer applies…

It wasnt-its the same chart that was widely circulated during the last election and was widely debunked by just about every news organization in the country

Heres what has really happenned

I’d be interested to know how a chart claiming no source whatsoever managed to muster any form of intellectual integrity. I could make up a chart with shiny colors that said that Obama has actually cut the deficit by 10 trillion dollars; that doesn’t make it right, but without a source, it’s useless.

I agree! And I wish there was a way to have a nutritionalist to help them make healthy choices. such as deciding between sugary cereal and bananas - Bananas are a healthier choice. Buy some peanut butter and some raisins with thebananas and you have a fun snack (ants on a log). They shouldn’t be accepted at strip clubs or casinos, etc…either. In fact, they should not be used as an ATM card - that’s what enables visits to casinos, etc…
