Now we hear it is rebel propaganda. When it first started happening, Assad and his supporters were mum. You’d think he would have been happy to advertise the pictures of those tortured children to gain international support against the “rebels”! Now he’s wetting his pants suddenly he’s blaming the rebels? The UN sent delegation after delegation, even the Arab League sent at least one. Why did he not seek their support in protecting those innocent kids?

Now, at this late stage he is blaming it on the rebels. Why can’t he and his supporters cease being sniveling cowards and admit that he was trying to crush rebellion (as his father had before him) with a campaign of unspeakable cruelty? Now that it’s reached flashpoint and there are known terrorist groups operating inside Syria, he’s crying foul? Let him cry; he who exports terror should not be surprised to find it one day under his own bed.
No, he is not “at this stage blaming it on the rebels.” Apparently you are just tuning in.

Of course we are supporting and funding terrorist “rebels” who are massacring Catholics (among others) in Syria. This has been reported for some time:

washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/syrian-rebels-get-influx-of-arms-with-gulf-neighbors-money-us-coordination/2012/05/15/gIQAds2TSU_story.html, smh.com.au/world/alqaeda-behind-syria-blasts-us-20120211-1syc0.html, thenewamerican.com/world-news/asia/item/10478-obama-backed-syrian-rebels-%E2%80%9Cethnic-cleansing%E2%80%9D-christians, nytimes.com/2012/07/25/world/middleeast/al-qaeda-insinuating-its-way-into-syrias-conflict.html?_r=1&pagewanted=all and reuters.com/article/2012/08/02/us-usa-syria-obama-order-idUSBRE8701OK20120802, among other places)

We have no reason to believe that the Catholic charities and Catholic authorities on the ground in Syria are lying. We have more than enough reason to suspect that the “rebels” are not really rebels (the sizable proportion of foreign fighters and al-qaeda betraying the very name “Free Syrian Army”) and that the “rebels” are actually the ones committing the massacres. Washington loosely refers to Syrian President Assad as a “dictator” or “brutal dictator,” but obviously if Assad is a dictator he is not very effective in that role. Normally, dictators don’t permit an opposition to rise, much less arm itself. The fact that the “rebels” are heavily armed and well-funded is an indication of interference from outside.

Remember Houla? It was originally blamed on Assad and the feckless, state-serving Western media outlets never once thought to independently verify the Goebbelsesque propaganda that they were dutifully relaying to hungry Western audiences. But we now know that the Houla massacre was committed by the “rebels” nationalreview.com/corner/302261/report-rebels-responsible-houla-massacre-john-rosenthal

Another massacre earlier this year at Homs was also blamed on the Assad regime, and was also disputed by the evidence, yet Western media outlets and our State Department were clear on the side they would be supporting regardless of the evidence.

Tremesh followed the same pattern: Hillary Clinton, one of the top defenders of the dangerous “rebel” coalition operating in Syria at American taxpayer expense and with terrorist backing, immediately claimed there was “indisputable evidence that the regime deliberately murdered innocent civilians” - “over 200 men, women and children,” in fact (state.gov/secretary/rm/2012/07/195003.htm). However, she did not present or cite any of the alleged evidence, but vowed to punish those responsible amid more calls for immediate regime change. Other Western leaders and financiers of the violence in Syria issued similar condemnations and more threats.

Hillary Clinton’s and Susan Rice’s (among others) reckless warmongering and selective misrepresentation and presentation of the disputed facts on the ground in Syria (that is costing LIVES) deserves a Congressional investigation. When the Syrian government denied responsibility for the Houla massacre, Susan Rice with no evidence immediately dismissed the denial as a “blatant lie.” Susan Rice - whose wild statements on Libya in the run-up to that unconstitutional war proved critical to the effort despite later being proven fraudulent - is helping to lead the global campaign for another bloody and unlawful disaster.

Not only should our elected “leaders” be investigated for instigating and maintaining (with U.S. tax dollars) this blatant intervention into the affairs of the soverign nation of Syria, but the mainstream media must be held accountable for their deceptive reporting journalistic misconduct. The media, continuously refers to the so-called “Free Syrian Army” interchangeably as “civilians” and “activists.” In reality they are heavily-armed, foreign-backed, and include among their ranks a sizable proportion of foreign fighters - so they are anything but a Free SYRIAN Army.
Excellent post! This says it all. The West is being spoonfed misinformation and propaganda. Let those who have eyes…see. Thank you for this post! 👍

“Assad torturing and killing more kids.” LOL! More “rebel” propaganda.
Yes!
The atrocities fo the last 18 months have been committed mostly by the “rebels” who we now know include in their ranks large numbers of al-Qaeda and other foreign mujahedin, who are funded supported by the U.S and her Western partners, along with the Jordanians, Turks, Saudis, and other of the Gulf’s real tyrants. Most of the big massacres (Houla, Homs, Tremesh) that were blamed on Assad turned out to be committed by the “rebels.”
Indeed!
Some of the leading Catholic voices in Syria - Bishop Antoine Audo of Aleppo, Patriarch Gregory III Laham of Damascus, Mother Superiro Agnes Miriam of the Cross of the Diocese of Homs - have been clear that the “rebels” are foreign Islamic extremists who are intentionally targeting the Christian population of Syria (which was protected under Assad) for destruction.
This is certain.
If the al-Assad regime falls, Americans will be able to thank our State Department for the following: the slaughter and displacement of large numbers of Christians and Jews as well as Syria’s Alawite and Shia communities; the triumph of Islamic-extremist forces (Syria is one of the last moves on the chessboard); the opening of Syria’s prisons and the release of thousands of veteran and hardened Sunni Islamist insurgents; and the looting of the Syrian military’s fully stocked arsenals of conventional arms and chemical weapons; the latter is the largest in the Middle East and perhaps in the world.
It is a very sad situation.

No, you seem to be the one just tuning in. When this all started, there was no one on this board that I’m aware of (and I spend considerable time here) bemoaning the torture and death of kids by any sort of Syrian rebels.

So which is it, did the torturing of children not really happen, were the rebels not really the initial perpetrators or were Syria’s Christians simply not in danger at the time?

See what? Dead kids who nobody cared about 18 months or so ago, now being used as propaganda to get Western Christians to support Syrian Christians?

Catholics and Orthodox on the ground in Syria are saying that the opposition are Islamic extremist terrorists. Don’t buy into the lies that the media feeds to you. I know people from Syria and they corroborate this. They would not say that Assad is “the good guy”…but he protects Christians. If he goes down…you will see the destruction of the monasteries and Churches…and the mass murder of Christians. Russia knows this…and we should too.

Yes.
And we read that Al Qaeda are backing the rebels, as is the USA.

I don’t know why the USA is backing Al Qaeda in Syria and is turning its back against the Christian population there.
Is the USA in favor of Al Qaeda or opposed to Al Qaeda? Which is it?

Quit repeating “rebel” propaganda.

Maybe you get your information from the BBC, who were caught using a picture taken in Iraq in 2003 to illustrate “the senseless massacre of children in Syria.” See the story here: telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/bbc/9293620/BBC-News-uses-Iraq-photo-to-illustrate-Syrian-massacre.html

The al-Qaeda target, the original al-Qaeda target, is of course no longer in Afganistan. It is in Syria. But this time it is working with the Americans. A few months ago, there was a flicker of al-Qaeda in Syria. That flicker has become a flame. It is quite clear from the modus operandi of the “rebels,” quite clear from their rhetoric, that just about every jihadist of the al-qaeda ilk is taking the road to Damascus (and not to convert to democracy).

Have you ever read Frankenstein all the way to the end? The monster that was created to fight the Red Army in Afganistan became the enemy on 9/11. The U.S. has armed and funded the al-qaeda-backed “rebel” terrorists in Syria in hopes of a “controlled demolition of the al-Assad regime (see this report from the NYT a few weeks ago: “Stymied at U.N., U.S. Refines Plan to Remove Assad” nytimes.com/2012/07/22/world/middleeast/us-to-focus-on-forcibly-toppling-syrian-government.html?pagewanted=all). Of course, controlled demolitions can go horribly wrong. This is regime change by civil war. Whoever wins the next U.S. election, there is a real danger of a Libyan-style NATO intervention, even in defiance of the U.N. Security Council. If that happens, then we may see Russia get involved, militarily. The sad thing is that the voices calling for a political solution to the violence are being marginalized. Just last week in Rome, Syrian dissidents met as guests of the Catholic conflict resolution group Sant’Egidio and signed a joint appeal for a peaceful political solution to the conflict and a process of national reconciliation.

Good point. Sometimes it does not matter how much information you provide that shows the real story on the ground. Some people will only believe what they see and hear from the Obama administration and their minions…the mainstream media…and other Western politicized sources.

I don’t know why the USA is backing Al Qaeda in Syria and is turning its back against the Christian population there.

That depends…one might well ask: is the USA opposed to Hezbollah or in favor of Hezbollah?

Assad, Al Qaeda, Hezbollah…does it really matter to an innocent civilian which label a murdering terrorist carries? Dead is dead, regardless.

You just finished telling me that the rebels were responsible, now you’re suggesting the BBC made it up…and I’m supposed to trust you - is that the point?

Just to be perfectly clear, I’m not talking about the murder/torture of children since all the shelling and UN delegation sending began. I’m talking about the start of the unrest when people were simply marching in the streets and their children were being abducted only to be returned to their parents with marks of torture all over their dead bodies.

So did it happen or didn’t it and where were you?

You missed the point.

You shouldn’t trust me. You should read the news. The massacres at Houla, Homs, and Tremesh were all intially blamed on Assad. The presstitutes at our finest state-serving media outlets (CNN, FOX, MSNBC, etc.) dutifully reported that Assad had committed those massacres. But, as it turns out, it was a lie and we now know that the “rebels” were behind the massacres at Houla, Homs, and Tremesh, and that the “rebels” fed their propaganda to western media outlets who dutifully reported it to their hungry western audiences. Sorry to be a party pooper.

Unfortunately, people can be easily misled by false information.

See my post above (#151). I don’t believe any matter can be resolved by starting at the end. I’m referring not to any recent massacres but to the atrocities committed against demonstrators near the start of the unrest, stories reported between 1yr to 18 mths ago.

I’ve been following events in Syria for a long time because I never believed the news commentary that what happened in Libya was unlikely there. I always knew Assad’s days were numbered because this is the season for the fall of tyrants. Cosmetic changes are not going to protect them. So the West would do well to get on the side of the people earlier rather than later…

Yes. And my friends from Syria have told me that the rebels (terrorists) have placed snipers on buildings to kill women and children…and then blame it on Assad’s forces. Also, the terrorists kidnap and either torture or murder children and send them back to their families maimed or dead…and then blame it on Assad’s forces. This has been happening from the beginning.

The West eats it up. 😦

You are still repeating “rebel” propaganda.

The stories of children being tortured is just another big lie, in the tradition of Houla, Homs, and Tremesh. What kind of information would a group of kids provide the Syrian security with? Where are you getting your information from?

Daraa did not start as a “peaceful protest” as claimed in the Western media. Several of the “demonstrators” were armed and had fired on the Syrian police: The Syrian police returned fire, killing some of them. The “demonstrators” included roof top snipers who were targeting the Syrian police. From the initial casualty figures there were more policemen than demonstrators who were killed. The police force was outnumbered by a well-organized armed gang. It is clear from the initial reports is that many of the demonstrators were not demonstrators but terrorists involved in premeditated acts of murder and arson. The following report from Israel National News published on March 21, 2011 “Syria: Seven Police Killed, Buildings Torched in Protests” describes what happened. Read it here: israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/143026

The Daraa “protests” had all the appearances of a staged event, were hardly spontaneous and were not peaceful.

Rebel propaganda? So no kids were tortured? Then why didn’t you simply say so initially instead of blaming it on the rebels?

My information is they were tortured as a lesson to their parents - to cow people into submission, not to get information of any sort.
