US President Barack Obama has argued that parochial schools are an impediment to the establishment of a lasting peace in Northern Ireland.
Speaking to a crowd in Belfast, during a trip to Northern Ireland for a G8 summit meeting, Obama said that “segregated schools” block the path to full reconciliation. “If towns remain divided, if Catholics have their schools and buildings and Protestants have theirs, if we can’t see ourselves in one another, if fear or resentment are allowed to harden, that encourages division, it discourages co-operation," he said.

Obama is the reigning king of the dictatorship of relativism.

It seems that whatever the bishops say, Obama says the opposite. He’s like an anti-bishop.

Ah, Christians getting educated together - the absolute worst idea since said Christians stopped tearing each other to bits…What’s next? “Undermining” Catholic marriage by suggesting that they intermarry?
I am not sure if this is sarcastic or not. Either way, I, for one, most definitely would not want my daughter to marry a Protest-ant.

Don’t forget, Mr. O got the Nobel “peace” prize for what the committee foretold that he might do once he moved into 1600 Pennsylvania Ave! Gee willikers, Mr. O, you are such a genius! It’s a wonder no one ever realized what’s at the bottom of this age old conflict. He sure is a wonderful guy, taking his time to travel around the world making profound pronouncements about how to run a better country. meanwhile the government scandals continue to unfold and unravel in D.C.

👍 great reply! I am half Irish and I to would love to see lasting peace. I agree that a lasting peace should be sought and to re-educate the children to see each other as equals is the way to go. However we can be equal and peaceful and still be in Catholic and protestant schools. Mr O I think you’re own country needs your font of wisdom if you can get Cameron surgically removed and return asap!

I wanna hear the ‘Social Justice’ Catholics that voted for this guy justify this one! What* more* is it going to take for them to realize that him and the Democrats are anti Catholic?

Wow. This guy just keeps getting worse and worse.

So disgusted that Americans voted him in for another 4 years. Especially disgusted with the Catholics who voted for him. Shame, shame.

Sorry to be rash, but it’s really none of his bloody business.

He should take care of the country he was elected into first.

Northern Ireland has our own government, and Obama has nothing to do with it

Wouldn’t it be nice if he was as forthcoming about his REAL views when he speaks in this country as well? I guess his PR adviser called in sick this day.

Not that I totally agree with Obama’s statement, but it amazes me that the antiObama crowd immediately characterizes this as an “antiCatholic” statement. It obviously isn’t.

I don’t think it’s antiCatholic. It’s just impractical and none of his concern.

Stating an opinion that catholic schools should cease to exist and that everybody should attend homogenized schools (unspoken, but understood is the government control) ISN’T evidence of hostility to catholicism in the public square?

How bad does it have to get to qualify by your standards?

I say let him give an off the cuff town hall style meeting in belfast with limited security. I’m sure the CIRA would be happy to give him a tour and show him the sites of the Republic of Ireland. Primarily the Cliffs of Moher.

Hmmmmmmmmmm I do not see where the statement is labeled as anti Catholic. I would assert that his policies are definitely anti- Catholic and by extension, the man, as anti Catholic.

BO feels free to criticize Catholics and Protestants when jihadis are murdering people around the world daily.
