Romney’s exceptions actually seem to follow what the LDS says, “except in cases of rape and incest.”
Ryan seemed to be falling in line with this.

But again, the question should be posed - Why is the baby denied the right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness?

CNBC poll has Ryan winning 58% to 33%, but you have to consider their audience is slanted Republican.

InTrade has Romney gaining very slightly, less than 1%.

I call it a draw… Biden early did well, Ryan did well through out most of it though being a nice guy may have taken a few punches early on… debate is probably 'inconsequential" as a whole.
Biden seemed stronger on foreign policy issues and Ryan better on domestic policy. But not a big win for either side.

I’m middle class, I work. Members of my family and friends are not working, not by choice but to do economics (no blaming here, just stating what “is”)…so for them, no assistance…no help. Cardboard boxes under a bridge perhaps?
The problem comes when there is not enough gov’t assistance to go around… and with Obama in office that day comes sooner rather than later. R/R is not claiming to get rid of the assistance, but to not expand it, and restructure it so that it doesn’t bankrupt us and there is still assistance in the future

And this is why Romney/Ryan are still a little hard for me to swallow. Yes, they are a huge improvement over Obama on abortion, but they want restrictions, not ending abortion.

I think Biden is representative of the kind of politics that has made many people become independents
Absolutely. My politics follow Catholic social doctrine, top to bottom, so I usually find myself holding my nose and voting for the least offensive candidate.

Perhaps we can elect them and then drive the nail all the way home…

I’m moderate, I don’t think Biden came off as a complete jerk, just kind of annoying. I think Biden did pretty well, he’s certainly the more experienced of the two. I’m happy that Ryan was more respectful, but I think he should have been a little less timid.

I don’t know about the LDS but it certainly is not Catholic. Ryan did indeed say the ticket of which he is a part of does make exceptions for rape, incest and life of the mother. I knew a person who was the victim of both rape and incest. His mother’s brother was serving time for that crime. The child is now in his early 50’s and the apple of his mother’s eye to thiis day. Ryan should not receive the Eucharist. I guess a faithful Catholic cannot run for president/vice president. I’m soooooo disappointed.

I would hope for a win for any candidate who is the most pro life; democrat or republican

One other thing. Does he think that the children who are the victims of rape, incest do not resemble beans like his daughter?

True. The right response to Biden would have been:

“So you believe that life starts at conception… so by connection you are advocating for the continued legalization of murder in America.”

This would have forced Biden to back away from his (obviously false) statement of faith in Catholic doctrine
Exactly. I just said the exact same thing to my husband.

Ending 98% of abortions is comparable to openly supporting abortion at will? 🤷

The position of Ryan and Biden was the same on this though both put it slightly differently. Biden said it how it was; he doesn’t believe that Catholicism should be forced upon the people by the Federal Government. Ryan stated a more verbose version of that in essentially saying that he has personal principles that are being sacrificed for the ticket on this issue.
