Walmart pushes healthcare for its workers on the taxpayers. The US government is subsidizing Walmart’s operations, since a sizable proportion of its employees are eligible for Medicaid and food stamps, because their wages are so low - that is corporate welfare as its most pernicious. The taxpayers overtly subsidizing private profits. Then the GOP complains about these ‘moochers’ wanting to reduce Medicaid and food stamps.
It is time that the minimum wage be raised from the $7.25 per hour it has been at since 2009, while the cost of living has increased considerably. This would not only reduce government expenditure, but would also stimulate the economy in general.
Walmart is the company that has set the standard for the others and has made these practices acceptable.
Plus the fact they open stores on Thanksgiving Day turning an otherwise religious holiday to one of crass consumerism.
Plus, why shop at a place that builds the economy of a communist country?
