That’s nice. Now allow me to repeat my simple question. Can you enter heaven (not the thief on the cross, not a deathbed convert, but you) without obeying God’s commandments? Choose one:

a) Yes, I can enter heaven without obeying God’s commandments in the least.

b) No, I cannot enter heaven without obeying God’s commandments, however imperfectly.
I can enter the kingdom ONLY though the covering of Yahshua’s blood for the multitude of my sins.

Abraham was justified by faith. Catholics most certainly don’t understand works as obligating God to save us. We don’t believe that any works we do earns us our salvation. We do believe that it is a gift freely given by God. But a gift that is given must also be received. It is through our faith worked out in love that we accept the gift. The protestants are right in saying that the act is initiated by the faith. Just like your faith leads you to baptism, your faith leads you to repentence in the confessional. If one wasn’t sorry for his sin he would probably be hard pressed to tell the pastor the awful things he did. Faith and works are two sides of the same coin. A coin with one side has no redemptive value.

I see you have evaded my simple question. I’m not surprised, since “faith alone” Protestants typically evade it. But perhaps you’ll reconsider - it’s such a simple question:

b) No, I cannot enter heaven without obeying God’s commandments, however imperfectly.

The questions are set as a trap… this question is much like those asked of Yahshua by the religous leaders of HIS time.

I will not partake in your unfruitful works of darkness.

Yahshua did not die for the demons.
No. I’m saying that to believe “in Christ” is to believe He did it all right. We agree here… it IS all his work. And Catholics aren’t claiming it is a work of their own doing… NOT AT ALL!

Does that mean you don’t know the answer? Or you do know the answer and are afraid to tell us?

Oh, and I’m not a religious leader of MY time, but nice try. 🙂

**HalleluYAH, please read **Revelations chapters 2 and 3 and count the number of times Jesus says, “I know your works”.

Actually, here’s the choice He gives in respect to ETERNAL life:John 3:14-18 "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.And again:John 5:24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.Looks to me like Jesus taught eternal life based on belief in Him and Him alone. I don’t see a “cooperative” salvation gospel coming from Jesus, nor His Apostles: “For by grace you have been saved through faith…” The choice is either believe or don’t believe. They both have their eternal consequences. As does “work” vs. “does not work.”:Rom. 4:4 "Now to the one who works, his wage is not credited as a favor, but as what is due. But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly,** his faith** is credited as righteousness,"Doesn’t look to me like a salvation based on “cooperation,” but through personal belief in Christ alone. So either Christ and His Apostles got it wrong or Rome did. I’ll stick with the original sources.
You forgot to add these verses:

Galatians 6:7-9

**7Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.
8For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
9Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. **

1 Timothy 6:18-19

18Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share,
19storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed
.

John 5:28-29

**28"Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice,
29and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment. **

Matthew 25:34-36, 46

**34"Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. **

WHY?

** 35’FOR I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in;
36naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’
46"These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." **

I don’t get it. What is the reward in evading Voci Mike’s questions?

HalleluYAH:

What is the nature of that trap? What is your fear? If you have the right answer, then you have nothing to fear. If you have the wrong answer, then you also have nothing to fear – except obstinately clinging to wrongness.

Ah! A predictable reply. It was only a question of time before it got personal. Folks usually make things personal when they run out of subtantive support for their positions but are unwilling to let go of those positions.

Moreover when they run out of substantive support for their positions, then they have conceded the point.

Accusing Voci Mike of being the author of unfruitful works of darkness is removing the exchange from the realm of respect, reason, and reference into the realm of the personal attack. You have therefore conceded the point.

Well done, HalleluYAH! 🙂

The RCC states differently.

Yes, this is true. However, you have all missed the point that none of us can obey HIS law in full. Moreover, if you fall short on even one point of the law, you have offended in all. What does this do to your theology on Yahshua’s words?

Yes, we should strive to being holy oand fully obedient. However, this is comes over time. Without HIS holy spirit coming in us, we can not even hope to know HIS will, let alone obey it.

The law was a mirror to Christ. The law shows our need for Christ. We love Christ becuase HE first loved us. We obey HIM out of love. Obedience is a matter of the heart, not outward imagery as some would perceive it.

This is also for you HalleluYah.

God bless,
Michael
Michael,

I understand that works bring favor. However, eternal life or ‘salvation’ is a matter of faith.

Moreover, works which are not born out of faith are empty. Faith is accounted to us as righteousness. And, these works born of faith, are evidence of our faith. Only YAH can judge these works. What seems right to man is not always right with YAHWEH. He sees the heart and discerns the thoughts and intents of the heart.
