The Gov. of Washington state is a Catholic.
I am ashamed to confirm this fact.

However, in our defence, I will say that when she ran for Governor in 2004, the Republican who ran against her was a staunch, practicing Catholic. He ran against her again in 2008. So, we do have good Catholics in Washington. There are just too few of us. But, we will take back our State, an inch at a time…

And there are now two sets of referendums getting ready, so the public of Washington can have a say. We have voted this down before.

God Bless Washington state, the Governor and all who made this law possible. 👍👍👍

But not by the people by voting, by government.

31 states have had gay ‘marriage’ on the ballot, 31 states have said no to legalizing gay ‘marriage.’

Prop 8 was overturned by government, but the people of California voted for a ban on gay ‘marriage.’
what what happens when the say back in the 50’s and 60’s certain places voed to keep Black people and White people separate???

so what!!! the democratic process can only do so much. sometime the govt needs to stick up for what is right!

?
That doesn’t surprise me one bit.

The governor of NH is a catholic and he signed into law as did the catholic governor of Maine before the Maine voters overturn it.

New Jersey and Maryland also are considering it. The senate in NJ just passed it today.

And so is Kathleen Sebelius, one of the most pro-abortion politicians in the country, and proponent of the HHS mandate forcing Catholic institutions to pay for contraceptives and abortifacients.

Democrats first, Catholics second (actually, last)

But those black people and white people were still one MAN and one WOMAN.

God has told us that homosexual relationships are wrong.
God never said that interracial marriages were wrong.

We can change Man’s Laws, but we cannot change God’s Laws. He isn’t going to change His Laws, no matter what men and women want.

No, not really. We saw this same sort of normalized degeneracy in Greece, and Rome, and many other decadent cultures. It always ends in one of two ways: decline into collapse, or reformation to respect the Natural Law. The Church, however, shall ever endure long after empires drunk on libertine nonsense have rendered themselves to dust.
mlund;8957096:
that is the very biased and (least historically true) starment ive ever heard.
male 2 male sexuality was celebrated for along time in Ancient Greece and Rome, albeit there was was always a Conservative faction. but even the God Zeus has a male lover called Ganymede.

now I know homosexuality as we understand it today was not what the Ancients were thinking but same sex relations perminated the society for centuries b4 the decline of these empires. homosexuality or same sex relations were hardly the cause.

what really happned was as the Roman Empire was collapsing the Christians Emperors such as Theodosius and his bishops needed an explanation for the natural disasters, losses to the Barbarian invasions etc and for the very first time in history suddenly the sin of sodom became what we would call today “homosexuality” and then homosexuals were blamed for all the problems the empire was facing. and of course since the empire collapsed (in the west anyway) the nonsence about homosexuality being the cause stuck!

but nothing could be further from the truth. homosexuality was alive and well in Ancient Greece from earliest times, Zeus, Apollo, Dionysus all had same sex relations. in the spartan society it was considered normal and healthy for a man to take another man as a lover. they are remembered as a strong military force in history.

if you don’t like or approve of homosexuals that’s fine…but please spare us the superstitious nonsense that history PROVES beyond all doubt is bogus and a lie.

what bought about the end of these empires and societies wasn’t homosexuality. society is always changing and sometime thing just come to their natural conclusion. no supernatural or superstitious cause necessary!

but your God isn’t my God, nor the God of millions of Australians or Americans, or anyone else.

they are your beliefs…thus if u don’t want a gay marriage, don’t get one!

what give you or anyone else the right to impose your religious beliefs on anyone.

thats really what this is about…homosexuality is just the catalyst. the reality is Catholics and other religious groups don’t like the fact that society is slipping between their fingers. and you u hope that u by keeping the laws of the land under christian domination that you keep people christian…
well it isn’t working…
and on the off hand you do succeed, it will only be a surface victory. the bulk of people will still do their own thing.

what you people are afraid off isn’t homosexuality…your afraid that people have moved away from traditional religion and traditional understanding of sex and relastioships…and this is your last chance to try and impose christian beliefs over a country who no longer sees the relevance of it.

that fact thatb Catholics in the US are the most likely to disobey the Vatican ruling on contracxeption, heterosexuality more than other religious groups says it all really.

my mums best friend is a daily communicate (as my own mother was for many years) but she has 2 gay grandchildren. both of whom are in Long Term Relationships. she was even one of the people who helped her grandsons partner (Irish lad) stay in Australia by supporting his rship. she is still a daily communicate. the vast majority of catholics no-longer believe that homosexuality is wrong. and thank the Gods!

I knew I was gay by the time I was 4 or 5! God(s) made me that way. my devoutly Catholic parents accept it and support me over those ridiculous teaching anyday. and my mother was happier than even I was when gay marriage passed here in QLD. the Catholic Church will change cause Catholics have changed. this fourm represent only the fundamentalists (as mostly anyone with differing opinions get banned sooner or l8ter…making it not really a fourm to discuss anything…but a 1 sided conversion lol)

To say a person is a Catholic and pro-abortion is to state a contradiction in terms - ONE CANNOT BE A CATHOLIC AND SUPPORT ABORTION. If someone like Sebelius claims to be a Catholic; she is mistaken - she WAS, I presume, a Catholic once, but since advocating abortion - she is automatically excommunicated and, if not, she should be. She has the blood of innocent babies on her!!! May God forgive her.

She, and the rest of them, are all Catholics by virtue of their baptism. They will never cease to be Catholics, even if they are excommunicated. They do place themselves outside of Communion when they obstinately persist in mortal sin, but they’re still Catholics. We should pray every day that they begin to live by their Catholic values (and I don’t mean to say that you aren’t praying for them, I certainly need to remember to pray for them).

I never said that your god is the same as my God, I was answering your comparison of race to sexual preferences.

Actually you need to look at a much bigger picture. All of the great civilisations that came before us fell due to decadence. The nth degree of decadence is acting homosexuality blatantly. Get ready for the REAL Big Bang - our civilisation is finished and aggressive homosexuals are to blame for much of it. However, not all. Other culprits for the destruction of modern civilisation are abortion, contraception, break-down of the family and lack of teaching from the pulpit.

So, come on our bishops, get teaching - loudly - the teachings of the Fathers of the Church and of the great saints - St Catherine of Sienna; St Augustin and St Jerome. The Catholic Church is the only light in the darkness of this world. Jesus promised that the gates of hell would not prevail against His Church. I believe that when this civilisation crumbles into dust, the Catholic Church will remain - perhaps in a smaller, more compact size, but the teachings and traditions will go on until the end of the world. The days when homosexuals will hide their shame and guilt will return. The murder of the innocence will be stopped by God and we will have a new civilisation rise out of the rubble. Please God.

Jerome_Fan:
What authority have you to assume such things? Just because someone is a daily communicant (not communicate) does not mean that they are not in error in their thinking. Many devout Catholics, whom I know, believe they must not be judgemental or be seen to be critical in awkward areas such as homosexuality, abortion, divorce and living in sin. This does not mean that they condone it or disobey the teachings of our Church on these issues. No single Catholic can MAKE someone change their ways - the good devout Catholic must be meek and gentle, as Jesus always is, while praying for that person’s soul. The practising homosexual is heading straight to Hell. Surely, it is a loving act to pray for them to realise the error of their ways. Only through the Sacrament of Confession and through diligent effort to change their lives, take a vow of chastity, can they hope to avoid Hell. God give them the Grace.

The Catholic Church will NOT change because a few of its members are disobedient to its teachings. The idea is ludicrous. The Church’s teachings are unchangeable and are impervious to the whims of immoral behaviour - no matter how many people sin this way. What is immoral will always be immoral - it is not relative. St Paul says no immoral person nor any homosexual will ever enter into the gates of Heaven. He was speaking of those homos who think it is OK to go against a direct order from God. Homosexuals themselves are disordered human beings - according to the teachings of our Popes - this is a cross they must bear or try to get help with it. Else, they must remain celebate and offer it up as a sacrifice to God. He will recompense you even in this life and great will be your reward in Heaven. Beats the risk of going to Hell. God give you the Grace to see your affliction for what it is.

Calling two things equal that are fundamentally different is stupid.

It simply does not matter if all 50 states eventually allow this; it does not make it any less stupid.

Acting in a stupid fashion eventually has negative consequences, but therein lies again the same problem: One would have to have some wisdom to recognize this fact.

It’s going to be one long, slow and painful road ahead.

not its not! anymore than it’s your right to vote for racial segregation (and many people did)

your rights end when you infringe on the rights of others!

You may not like the arrangement, but it is the right of the people of the State of Washington to have a referendum and put this to a vote.

These are the rights of the citizens of the State of Washington, and if you do not like them, I suggest you do not move here.

yeah
A, I don’t believe in Hell
B. a good portion of the pope had same sex relations
C. a good portion had children out of wedlock
D. they often ordered the killing of innocent people in the middle ages

so I mean no offence when I say “I dont give a dam what the popes have to say on any topic”

no offence. but I don’t
