Absolute rubbish from Lifezette! The woman featured is no more the founder of the BLM movement than I am. BLM was begun as a grass-roots loosely organized movement that spread organically from the bottom up. It is not a George Soros plot, or any other kind of boogeyman!

Regardless of how it was founded i’m sure you can clearly see the direction it is going and how it is politicized by those on the left

That organization, perhaps. The movement, which is much bigger than the organization, no. I refuse to let anyone tear down this much needed movement and occasion for hope through criticism of people who are not representative of the movement, like the woman cited.

The only universal goal of BLM i have seen is the tearing down of what they deem to be racist and offensive cultural symbols, history and art in order to bring about change. To defund or even downright remove the law and order in pursuit of an alternative all the while doing nothing to pursue real solutions.

I have noticed two things since BLM began, the mainstream media such as the BBC, CNN, NYT etc siding with far leftists even going as far to defend the violence and promote the cultural war that has started. Watching armed protestors take over the streets, where any business or corporation or high profile individuals who doesn’t agree with this agenda being bullied and harassed. Secondly that there has never been a time when the gulf between the mainstream media and average person has been bigger due to the anger by the general public against these acts of aggression and vandalism by BLM while the media dresses it up as justice

If that is all you see then you have missed the point of the millions of peaceful protesters asking for justice and equal treatment for those of other races, especially blacks. The statues to people who symbolize that injustice are just one visible focus around which they gather, just because it is visible, unlike the acts of injustice that are often done out of view of the public eye. Defunding the police is a common, but not universal, proposal which means many things. In the more reasonable cases it does not mean disbanding the police, but just shifting some of the funding from the police toward community development to more directly address the problems of the communities that they patrol. As for riots and vandalism, those acts are vastly outnumbered by the huge number of peaceful protesters in this cause. Discrediting the whole movement on account of those acts of violence is like, in 1859, discrediting the entire abolition movement on account of the violence done by abolitionists at Harper’s Ferry. Sure, the raid on Harper’s Ferry was unjustified. But the abolition movement as a whole was not.

Someone posted about the civil rights marches MLK from was involved in were reported and the same things were said. I’m not saying this to justify the violence obviously, but it’s interesting to see the pattern, especially now that MLK seems to be propped up because people said his protests were not violent.

I’m sorry but the riots and vandalism are on a DAILY basis and now we are seeing Churches and religious statues attacked, even a BLM leader calling for religious statues to be torn down. This movement is nothing short of divisive and evil, look at it’s fruits, what good is any of this doing? The ideology behind this which is no longer about police brutality but about changing western culture itself is Marxist, it always was and is now clear to see. I was told by you and another poster that wasn’t the case and it was solely about Police brutality and dealing with racism, well now EVERYONE can see weeks later. It’s downright lunacy and is obviously an offshoot from the LBGTQI+ ideology used in identity politics.

People use to laugh at the lunacy of all this, at those who claimed to see racism, sexism and bigotry in every stat that give some disproportion in numbers, people who screamed at protests in universities when some right wing speaker came to give a lecture, calling anyone who didn’t agree with their world-view a fascist, racist and sexist, they were seen as radicals who made no sense but were misguided radical students that would outgrow it all when they got into the real world. Rather than engaging in debate with others of a different view they merely attacked anyone who didn’t agree only entrenching them in their misguided ideology of self resentment.

As i said before i’ve never been a big fan of US foreign policy and will be among the first to speak up if i feel they are doing wrong but i’m never felt so much sympathy for the US and it’s people, there is real evil at work here and it may end up bringing down the nation as you know it. Even seeing how political leaders and in public schools vilifying the police force, all this does is create an atmosphere of hatred and anger towards authority. It’s like looking at Rome when they let the Barbarians in to sack it, Anarchists were literally taking over your streets and you have democratic leaders showing active support because they are more worried about being popular in the up and coming election than doing whats right for their country.

Instead of going by your “feelings” on the issue, do the numbers. The peaceful protesters vastly outnumber those that do violence.

It is bringing together people of different races in agreement over the need for reform. That is a very good thing.
The ideology behind this…
Is exactly what this thread is about. And I don’t think you have it right yet.
People use to laugh at the lunacy of all this…
Until they saw George Floyd slowly suffocated to death in full living color video. Now they are not laughing.

I think throughout this thread there has been a conflation of the organization and the movement.

While many are protesting under the cry Black Lives Matter, they are not involved with the organization and might disagree with some or all the goals the organization espouses.

I think that clarity in which of the two admittedly overlapping groups is intended would help the discussion.

I would also like to suggest that the use of the name for the organization which has several other completely unrelated goals is a rather nefarious appropriation.

ETA: when I say protesters, I intend to exclude rioters, looters, arsonists, etc.

I can assure you those putting forward the self hating lie of white privilege and attacking western culture don’t even remember George Floyd especially outside the US where many of the left are using this to pursue an agenda of change in their own nations. This isn’t about systemic racism what has been proven to be a lie, it’s much more than that. ALL can see it. There is so much damage being done in the culture overall, there is no people coming together, rather it is a witch hunt in the form of cancel culture. You can pretend you don’t see it but enough people on here and in society at large are voicing their disgust at it. I really hope you and others don’t get too swept on this and become pawns for the radical left.

If you can’t see how all this is being politicized then please i’d advise you to take a look. This ideology of self hatred is just a ploy by those who use identity politics to try and divide us, to create resentment about our western civilization and pursue a Marxist alternative they claim will save us.

No-one is saying it isn’t but the movement is pushing a radical leftist agenda that is increasing instability in the US for their own gain. We see this every few years under a new disguise, the me too movement, the continued offensive by pro choice groups and LGBTQI+ groups. These groups aim and have been succeeding in usurping God, the State and the family.

Your personal assurances of what is in the memory of those with whom you strongly disagree are not very authoritative. It seems to me (again, just my personal opinion) that the memory of George Floyd is very much alive.

That’s what they said about the abolition movement in the 1850’s too.
there is no people coming together
If you look at the diversity of races marching together in these protests it certainly seems like people are coming together.
I really hope you and others don’t get too swept on this and become pawns for the radical left.
…as opposed to being swept up as pawns for the radical right?

Let’s Look At The Actual Facts About The Alleged Racism of Police

The media help foster a narrative there is an epidemic of Caucasian police officers killing black Americans out of racist impulses. But is it really true?
This Federalist opinion piece is not unexpected. Looking at it we see that the author mostly avoids the direct question of whether there is systematic racism. Instead he cites incidental polls about black support of their local police. The author casts unproven aspersions on the FBI data, saying that their special-interest database is more reliable! The author cites the irrelevant statistic of how the media covers police shootings. I mean, he can get his digs in at the media, I suppose, but the question was not about the media. Then the author comes right out and admits:
Officers kill black Americans at a higher rate than their share of the population: 25 percent of the suspects killed were black, 45 percent Caucasian, and 16 percent Hispanic.
But then has to quick turn around and try to justify the discrepancy by saying that police have a harder time in black neighborhoods. In other words, it is the blacks own fault they are being killed more than whites. He also embarks on another totally irrelevant side issue of the race of the police officer, as if the whole issue was about white cops killing black people. It is not. It is about police, of whatever race killing blacks. The fact that those officers may be black does not prevent them from following through and acting upon the systemic racism, because the racism is in the system and they are part of the system. We see that there are plenty of white cops, even Chiefs of Police and Sheriffs, that were joining with the protesters. So it is not a white vs black thing. It is the system vs blacks. But as expected, Mr. Lott sidesteps that issue because he cannot address it head on. He does not address the fact that blacks are 3 times more likely to be stopped and questioned by police than whites. That alone leads to many of the confrontations that did not need to even happen. Even Republican US Senator Tim Scott admits to having been pulled over by the police seven times in one year.

In summary, this article by the Federalist is far from proof that systemic racism does not exist, and is not even a very good attempt at it.

It’s not ‘some’ bad actors. BLM founders admit they are Marxists. Black Lives Matter is a classic example of semantic overload. It’s a leftist attempt (and quite successful unfortunately) to extort support from the gullible and easily extorted. If you are against us it must mean you think black lives don’t matter. It’s all so transparent and predictable that it is sad to see fellow Catholics falling for it. BLM supports abortion (disproportionately black babies being murdered) hates the family (alleged patriarchy) hates Israel (The ancestral land of Jesus Christ himself) wants to abolish police (Leading to more crime and murder in black communities). I have not once seen a BLM person of any stripe march over the carnage of black lives in cities like Chicago and Baltimore.
