You want to know my issue with that diagram? It assumes the person on the floor with the injured leg is black, and the person standing up with the healthy leg, is white.
In reality, there are also many white (and Asian and Latino etc.) people who ‘have an injured leg’. There are also many black people who ‘have a healthy leg’.
This way of thinking leads people to believe they should be helping certain people over others, based on their race. That’s actually racism. ‘Oh, I’ll help you because you’re black, but I won’t help you because you’re white and you probably don’t need any help’.
Does that sound Christian to you?
Why can’t we just help those who need it most? If in the USA those who need it most are black, then they will get the most help. We can help improve the areas with the most poverty and hardship? If those who live in those areas happen to mostly be black, then they will benefit from that help the most. That’s far better than saying ‘I am going to help you because of your skin color’.
