What does politics have to do with religion

Do you agree with the Church’s teachings or not on an issue like abortion? That will frame this discussion a bit. If you dont, just say so. Lots of folks around these parts don’t.

I hear what you’re saying. I still think there is cause for hope though.

Ironically, Trump’s presidency is bringing to light the anti-religious, angry, atheistic groups of white nationalists and neo-Nazis, who are just fine with abortion for non-white babies.

These folks are not friends to the Church, despite being “right leaning.” But their vile rhetoric may drive others to the arms of Chrisitianity.

I do not have strong feelings for abortion. I would not do it. It is difficult for me to fully agree that no one should have one. If I say I do not, does that make me a bad Catholic?

No. But think about which political candidates you choose from on election day, who stand most in line with the Church teachings, being a Catholic.

Are you willing to consider a liberal or democratic view? On here people are rather willing to suggest videos I should watch to change not many people are open to questioning theirs or considering why I feel the way I do

not to change but learn. is the video correct or not? is blm a leftist liberal white man funded organization or not? are the statements true or not? what does blm say about black fathers? the truth is not liberal or conservative. it just is

My point was more that I don’t consider BLM a hate group. I don’t even particularly agree with them honestly. I wouldn’t compare them to white supremacy.

Do I have vote Republican or support Trump to be “good” Catholic? Must I align myself with the conservative Republican party?
I know what issues I care about. I believe global warming is real and serious issues. I’m against abortion. I’m for gun control. I’m against the death penalty.
Just comparing 2 issues, death penalty and abortion.

How many serious criminals have been executed, vs how many children have been murdered by abortion?

in 2016, for example, 20 inmates were executed in the U.S.Pew research

VS

Abortions per year in the U.S.

Total number of abortions in the U.S. 1973-2013: 56.5 million+
219 abortions per 1,000 live births (according to the Centers for Disease Control)
Abortions per year: 1.058 million
Abortions per day: 2,899
Abortions per hour: 120
1 abortion every 30 seconds

That ALONE should get you to vote Republican.

Democrats are off the chart radical abortion advocates. Look up their party platform.

but people of white supremacy are the backers and handlers of blm? you don’t give money without retaining some control. isn’t that at least ironic. the whites are pushing their agenda through blm

OK 😃

So do ANY of those issues suppress; invalidate, or override in GOD’S view: "THOU SHALT NOT KILL"

No Catholic or “Christian” CAN in good conscience VOTE for ANY National Democratic Party Candidate given their proud, touted and DEMANDED Abortion “rights”; Gay marriage “rights”…WHAT ABOUT GODS RIGHTS?

I don’t think the Republican party is a godsend like how others do. I don’t see the life the same way most conservatives do.

Why am I required to vote for a political party I don’t share the same worldview with in all other issues but because they are prolife I must support their stances on other issues? I started this thread to exclusively discuss that. Sure in the other threads, I may have interjected inappropriately.

As a Catholic, you are not required to vote for a specific party. There are a few non-negotiable issues, but no specific party.

Maybe because I live in a rather liberal area. I don’t understand what’s so great about Donald Trump. A lot of other issues conservatives tend to align with, I don’t. I’m sure to some people I’m another person brainwashed by liberal media. Any social issue that comes up on here, I have difficulty taking the conservative perspective whether it be about racism, police brutality, gun control, white male privilege. I think it has more to do with race, I don’t see race relations the same way white conservatives tend to.

You seem to feel very differently on those issues. That’s why. My point I’d rather vote for another party that’s prolife. Some people feel third party votes are b.s.
