Where does that leave aborted babies, people born with limited ability to understand, the mentally ill? Those that never had the chance to hear the “GOOD NEWS” are they all lost without hope?
Hi, That leaves them in the hands of God whom I believe to be merciful. I believe they are in heaven with God.😃
I
believe that the decision is Gods alone as to whom will be in Heaven with him. Jesus gave Peter the power to loose and bind. But not to judge. God the Father has that position as judge. God is just and man is judgmental.
Yes except Jesus is actually going to be the Judge.👍

Hi,

As I have researched this topic of what you ask of me I have discovered I am not the one to teach it to you. As I was studying the Holy Spirit guiding the Church I found it to be more involved then I think I can handle. I would say that Apophasis or Bibleapologist would do a much better job at explaining the bible then I. I feel that I just cant give you an adequate answer. I have only been studying the bible for 3 years and Church=body of believers(which I 100% believe)is not a doctrine I have studied out enough to give you an answer you deserve. I know and accept my limitations.😃 Im sorry I have let you down:(
I could have told you; but, I think your search was a better illustration. No “expert” will be able to find it either. I can guarantee you that it is not there. That is because the Holy Ghost does in fact abide in the Church that is His Body: the Catholic Church. He speaks directly to us and teaches us infallibly through the Magesterium. Searce for thirty years and you will still write me the same words…
The wise thing to do would not be to say that you have failed where someone else may succed; but rather, to contemplate the fact that this teaching against the power of the Holy Ghost is in error and that the Church has proven itself to be correct. Then look closely at just exactly what else She teaches and pray for correct undersstanding in these areas as well!

Hi,
Could you possibly point me to where this is in Scripture.👍

I dont just want to take your word for it thats all.😃

Thank you:thumbsup:
Sure. In Acts 9:2 he receives warrants of arrest from the High Priest, authorizing him to arrest the Christians in Damascus.

When they arrive in Damascus, after his conversion, his servants take him straight away to one of the homes that they were using as a Christian house of worship, the house of a man named Judas.(verse 9:11)

How could they do this, if they didn’t have access to Judas’ address? - Probably from the warrant for his arrest that Paul was carrying in his luggage. (Or else maybe they shouted in the street, “Hey, take us to one of the secret meeting places of the Christians, please!!” 😛 Somehow I don’t consider that to be very likely - it would be like someone in your town coming down the street and shouting, “Hey, take me to your Al Qaida sleeper cell headquarters, please!!” They probably wouldn’t make it past your town’s jail, if they even made it that far, alive.)

Hi,
Dont get me wrong Im not concedeing this point at all.:nope: It is in there . It is just Im not good at explaining things I have not fully studied. Beside the big problem in explaining this to you would be that we have different definitions of who the Church is. So all points made after that wouldnt matter to you because we believe differently 😦

Thanks,
I will give it a look. Is that all the info. you have on the subject?

👍:yup:

Oh never! God has mercy and love for those who, by no fault of their own, never knew Him. He judges us all by how much we know and how we use that knowledge in our daily lives to serve Him. 👍
Yet the Baptist Churches will tell you the bible teaches only submersion of only those that have personally accepted Jesus as their Personal Saviour Only will enter into heaven.

If adult only baptism believers believe this, then they can’t believe in the other way for it goes against what they believe does it not?

Catholics teach that be have the hope that those unbaptized people will enter Heaven through the Mercy of God. This is our tradition and belief.

But if you only use the bible as the ONLY source of your belief, then, where do you find that those that are not Baptized by submersion will enter Heaven?

We stand before the judgement seat of GOD. The Father sits in the center and the Son at his Right Side as an Advocate. Thus God the Father is the final judge. Even our earthly legal system is modeled after this judgement.

All For Him:

I want to know where in scripture it says specifically that the Holy Ghost cannot dwell in "The Church’.
What I am referring to is the second part of your statement: namely that the Holy Ghost cannot indwell an “Institution”. (again, this is your word, not mine, I don’t think of the Church as institutional; but rather, Communional (is that a word?)).
None of the passages you cited support this belief.
Dan,
Your asking to prove a negative, instead it would be better if you cited an example and we can go from there.
Simon

It’s a good thing I’m not a Baptist then. 😛 In all seriousness, we believe that God is a merciful God and will judge people accordingly.

But that’s just it. The Bible is not our ONLY source. It is the only INFALLIBLE source but definitely not the only source. 👍
2 Tim. 2:11-14 (This is also fits about us arguing about who believes who is saved. 😉 )
***11
This saying is trustworthy: If we have died with him we shall also live with him;
12
if we persevere we shall also reign with him. But if we deny him he will deny us.
13
If we are unfaithful he remains faithful, for he cannot deny himself.
14
Remind people of these things and charge them before God to stop disputing about words. This serves no useful purpose since it harms those who listen. ***

Are you referring to the event of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit descends on the apostles?
The Old Testament even shows proof that the Holy Spirit dwells within each of us. (Psalm 51:11, Joel 2:28)
I can agree that the leaders of the CC are humans, just like the rest of us, and can have the Holy Spirit in them, just like we can. Afterall, God didn’t limit his spirit to just the CC.
It just makes me nervous when Catholics claim that the CC is guided by the Holy Spirit. It very well might be, there’s really no proof claiming otherwise. Do you ever question the decisions that come from Rome and the Magisterium? Blindly believing the HS guides the CC, if it in fact didn’t, might lead to a rude awakening to the flock to find out the shepherd was leading them on his own.

Agreed and for example the 1st PopeJohn23
before he was considered an anti pope may have easily led many astray.

myfavmartin,

There was only one Pope John XXlll. I’ve never meet a practicing Catholic who thought he was anything but a pope guided by the Holy Spirit to lead Christ’s Church.

What is your point?

I forgot to post this (it’s also relevant to the topic): :o
Matthew 3:11
I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
The Bible says right here that you don’t need a baptism of water to be saved. God will come and baptize all with the HS and fire. 🙂

Hi, I should clarify my comments.👍

Yes we are all ultimately judged by God. However, Jesus is the one that is giving the judgement but only what God(the Father) tells Him and only to believers.
John 5:22

2Corinthians 5:10

Now in Revelations 20: 11–15 those are the non-believers and they will be judged directly by God and **NOT **through Christ.

But you know what your right we will all be judged.

Then perhaps we should develop an understanding of what each of us defines as “Church” and see if we, working together can come to a consensus as to what “historically”, throughout the 2,000 + life of the Church and what the Early Church Fathers during the first 100-500 years of Christianity defined as “Church”, as well as looking at various scriptural passages that will support the Catholic view.?

I know that is alot and I have about as much time as you probably to devote to this, while working to support my family, play with the children, go to Mass, Scripture study, and working with the Knights of Columbus, the Parish Mens Group, and working in 2 hours of television per month! But hey…🙂

Hi,

I dont have a source for my belief because God seems to be silent on this matter. The only Scripture you can go to to remotely believe that babies go to heaven is 2 Samuel 12:23 Other than that there is nothing.

But I have faith and Hope and believe in God’s Mercy. So, I have just shown you scripture so what does tradition say about this?😃
