Hi,
Im talking about people who are in heaven. I do not believe people in heaven, except Jesus can comfort us or pray for us or intercede for us. We are supposed to TRUST IN JESUS ALONe. Not Him and all the saints and Mary. Sorry I just dont see it biblically. Jesus never tells us to go to anyone but Him for EVERYTHING. I just see that leaves room for anyone else. Sorry this is just what I believe to be the biblical truth and I understand you dont believe the same.😦 I do believe in intercessary prayers by saints on earth(which would be all of us who are in Christ) We are told to pray for each other. I** just believe that ends when we physically die**.
Sorry but my grandpa comforted me here on earth and he still does in heaven. I went to him when he was alive and I still do today.

Are those in heaven not in Christ? And you believe it ends when we physically die (Prayer) please show me your biblical truths behind this.

But by asking people ON EARTH to pray for you, aren’t you just as much guilty of going to or through ‘someone else’, and just as guilty of not trusting in Jesus alone, as I am in requesting the intercession of those who have died?

I just don’t see how your position is logically defensible.

And yes, we absolutely can know that certain people are in heaven - God makes that abundantly clear by granting miracles through their intercession among other things.

It’s who is in hell that isn’t so clear, since God doesn’t provide those sort of supernatural signs to let us know the fate of Hitler, Judas et al.

Hi,
Maybe one of you can show me in the bible where it says we should pray to Mary or any of the saints that are already in heaven. That would help.👍

How many more times must I do this? have you bothered to read anything I have posted here?

Because I believe intercessary prayer stops when you physically die. I dont see anything in the bible that says our loved ones are praying for us in heaven.😦 I know this sounds harsh but it is just not biblical to ask people who have died to pray for us. According to catholics you dont even now if they are in heaven.

If you go to biblechristiansociety.com, you can download or order a “communion of Saints” cd by John Martignoni. He is a Catholic who specializes in explaining Catholic teaching from a “bible only” standpoint. He addresses this very topic.

Everything we are commanded to do as Christ’s Church here on earth continues on just exactly the same in Heaven, except that instead of doing them imperfectly, we will do them perfectly, since that’s what Heaven is: Christ’s perfected Church.

The main problem is that you believe in “Scripture Alone”. Catholics believe that Jesus gave the Church authority to teach about doctrine and morals without error.
Hi, Of course I do not view this as a problem so that is where the dilemma lies what you are telling (or the CC) and what the Word of God tells me. Ill stick with the Word of God.😃

They can,t show you because it doesn,t exist. No one in sacred scripture has ever prayed to any one elso but to God.

We believe that Jesus speaks through His Church as well as through Sacred Scripture. Both are the Word of God for us.

Other Christian denominations do not believe in the divinely appointed authority of the Church, and that is why they have so many differing doctrines.

Hi,
Im still waiting for someone to show me where in the bible we are told to pray to Mary or the saints in heaven.😃

John does a great job at this. I am not a gifted chapter and verse memorizor.

You aren’t asking me for something you can go straight to John for, are you?

Sure they did - you see it in the Old Testament all the time, people continually asking favours of one another. (To “pray” is to ask a favour.) 😛

If you mean talking to human beings who are in Heaven, the rich man was talking to Father Abraham, even though they were separated by a huge and impassable gulf.

Jesus talked to Elijah and Moses at his Transfiguration.

Mary spoke to the Angel Gabriel. John spoke to a lot of different angels. Abraham talked to angels, too, and so did Sarah. Shadrach, Meschach and Abednego walked through the fiery furnace with an angel.

Will do thanks

Hi,I believe Abraham was already dead physically.
Jesus talked to Elijah and Moses at his Transfiguration.
I must have missed this in Scripture:o

Jacob/Israel didn’t just talk to angels, he wrestled with 'em 😃 Many of the prophets also talked to angels (Isaiah certainly did).

I know precisely how this goes, you’re going to say ‘oh but they were angels’. Well didn’t Christ say in the Gospels that we too will become like the angels in the afterlife?

ALL FOR HIM—

I have already given you Bible on this— Here is just a few “reminders” and I will go on from here tomorrow—

Eph 1:22, 2:35, 23 32
Col 1:18, 24

Rom 8:35 -39
Matt-17:3., Mark 9:4, Lk 9:30

So many more, do you really read the bible???

I dont mean to mock you but I just ask? Its all over the thing???

What is your idea of heaven? What is your theology??

Hi,I believe Abraham was already dead physically.
Umm, yeah, that’s the point - he was talking to Abraham who WAS ALREADY DEAD! Spooky!!! Same with Jesus talking to Moses and Elijah.
Im not talking about angels. Im talking about people who have died and gone to heaven.😃
See my last post - we shall be like angels in heaven.

And no offence, but you really need to read scripture a bit better. The Transfiguration is a pretty significant event for you to have missed.

No offense AFH,
According to YOU it’s not biblical. According to my BIBLE it is. We are surronded by a great cloud of witnesses who are cheering us on in our race. Who are the cloud of witnesses? We see in Revelation that the saints under the altar are aware of what’s going on. There is also an OT passage (can’t think of it off hand?) were someone who has already left this earth prophesied from Sheol. We are a FAMILY in Christ. All of us are members of ONE BODY. Are those who have gone before us no longer a part of the ONE BODY? Are they no longer considered to be part of the family in Christ? Families communicate to each other. It’s the same with the body. Each part of the body communicates to other parts of the body? It’s logic pure and simple. I’m sorry you can not see something that is simple logic.
