Where is the Catholic outrage over recent American immigration policies?

I won’t defend Obama, who was more anti-immigration than his apologists like to admit. But Zero Tolerance is actually a product of the Trump Administration. If he hates it as much as he claims, he can pull out his good 'ol Executive Order plume, as he’s so trigger-happy to do with so many other issues.

Here is a reasonably fair and even-handed report about how we ended up in this situation, the laws that apply,
I’m not sure that CNN is really “fair and even handed”. They seem to have a burr under their saddle about their President, particularly after Mr. Trump has called them out by name many time for Fake News.

CNN just seems really thin skinned about accepting criticism from President Trump, they think its beneath them to acknowledge they aren’t perfect.

Outrage does not solve problems.

One alternative is to detain children with their parents. Now people get outraged over the jailing of innocent children.

The next alternative, let them in and settle. They get to jump the queue ahead of other immigrants who are applying legally. Now you get outrage because you are rewarding lawbreaking.

Any other alternatives you have in mind?

We need solutions not just outrage.

This particular article I found to be fair and accurate.

I generally share your opinion of CNN, but I wanted to share something that summarized the issue well but was from a source less likely to be dismissed out-of-hand by those who lean more to the “left” (i.e., those who would not trust an article from Fox News or WSJ or some other outlet toward the “right”).

I did not notice any obvious errors, inaccuracies, or bias in this particular article. I am not endorsing CNN generally 😉

Yes, I am. However, I made a post about the separation of children from parents a week ago and was told, don’t worry about it. Just because ‘Trump is thinking about it doesn’t mean he will do it.’ I posted before all the news and now controversy.

I’ve noticed this trend as well. It’s downplayed as not likely to happen because it’s cruel or crosses the line but then when it happens it is defended as right and just. Sad

It’s happened in this thread as well. People without the courage of their convictions first demanding that the facts be proved and then spending an inordinate amount of time defending the situation.

I call it gutless.

The law is actually widely misunderstood. Trump is just enforcing the laws better than the previous presidents have.

Would it be better for kids to go to jail with their parents?
