Where is the Catholic outrage over recent American immigration policies?

We should take them into our homes 🏡

Who’s first? 😐
How about just showing compassion and treating them humanely?

Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

And treating the symptoms is what every good doctor would do - it’s not at all incompatible with also treating the causes.

For that matter current policies are, if they are achieving any good, ALSO only treating the symptoms.

Problem is the causes will take a long time and a lot of international goodwill to treat.

And compassion is altogether lacking in this thread. For some on here, it’s not just about defending the current American policy. Many here are debasing immigrants, casting them into suspicion, etc.

He didn’t say to go about it foolishly! No, instead the International Community must fix their countries.

Why are you so dedicated to this thread? You don’t seem to care for immigrants but instead want to defend separating children from their parents.
I have navigated legal immigration, and I’ll remain as dedicated to a thread as I like.

I have every concern for immigrants. I also have concern for American citizens and legal immigrants.

Why do I have to justify that to you?

Where’s the outrage over the parents that forced their small children on a dangerous and risky trek and into a situation where they are breaking the law? All while passing my many, LEGAL PORTS OF ENTRY, where they would be properly cared for.

Shame on these parents putting their children in harms way like this when there are many legal and civilized options…all to make a political statement.

Is it safe to live here in the U.S. though? I thought because citizens have access to and rights to own guns here(unlike in Mexico where this is ONE gun shop in all of Mexico), it isn’t safe.

Shame on the parents for wanting to provide for their children! Shame on them!

Of course, but it is negligent to ignore or fail to treat the ‘symptoms’ in the meantime.

But seeing this is a Catholic forum, here is yet another message from a Bishop:

The law is a teacher. As Christians our duty in this moment is to insist that our laws reflect God’s law of love. Every human life is sacred and every person’s dignity must be respected, even if that person has broken the law or is related to someone who has broken the law.

Shame on the parents for wanting to provide for their children! Shame on them!
So it’s OK that they want to do it by illegal means?

Should the poor be permitted to rob banks in the US? After all, they just want to provide for their kids.

The initial treatment is deportation to a Safe Zone in Mexico under UN Protection.

Not casting aspersions but my primary concern in this is the sex trafficking of minors through gang channels. We know this is happening.

So many of these children are set to become invisible chattle.

How they are being treated is wrong.
