Don’t fall for it. This is a photo taken out of context of a bad parent who put their child into a risky and illegal situation, while disregarding the many LEGAL options available to them. Shame on these parents!!!
God bless you. I’m glad you’re here.As a legal immigrant myself who has fled Islamic terrorism in my homeland, I agree with you.
I’m sorry if I’ve offended you or anyone else, it does no good to cause offense and so I apologize if it did. Its no excuse but it’s sad for me to see responses in a Catholic forum that sound so far from what I would expect to hear from a Christian.Quoting Scripture to subtly disparage others is hardly ingenious. Go write down the BIG SOLUTIONS that will help these refugees in their native countries. What should the UN do to stop the cartels? Start with that.
Go on now![]()
You missed that story? A lot of unaccompanied minors were making the trip from Central America to the US border a couple of years ago even- President Obama was still in office.Wow thats awful. I didn’t know this.
This is why people lose their patience with the whole thing.83% of the children currently being held arrived without a parent. What would you have us do with them?
Few are from Mexico, as Mexican nationals can immediately be deported.Especially since - from my understanding - most of these people aren’t from Mexico.
There are large numbers who are unrelated. But as a Catholic, I’m with the bishops who say that separating immigrant children from parents, or treating immigrants as less than human in general, is wrong.
We must be outraged at this. We must move forward.
Congress wrote the law … 1995? But Congress refuses to change the law.I actually do feel horrible for these people. I’m not making that clear, but I actually do.
But we have laws for a reason. Why is it so wrong to say “we have our own problems - I’m sorry, but we can’t help you until we help ourselves”.
Kids in the US should not be hungry. Baltimore city schools shouldn’t have been without heat last winter. That’s twisted on so many levels. We can’t funnel a bunch of aid in good conscience if we have schools in major cities that don’t even have heat.
Or at least we shouldn’t.
That is the most difficult part. And I agree.Permitting it to continue to be accessible to migration creates a vast opportunity for human traffickers to exploit the vulnerable women, children and youth from Latin America.
