Putting everything aside, may I ask that you pray for my former wife who has liver cancer.
I was informed a little while ago that she went to the hospital in severe pain. She is a God loving woman and a good harted lady. Please pray for her. Her name is Silvia. Thank you.
Rev, I just now saw your prayer request. :gopray: Our dear Heavenly Father, I pray you will be with your servant Silvia, comfort her and her loved ones, guide her doctors, and may Thy healing hands fall upon her and bring her back to good health. May Thy will be done dear Lord. I ask this in the name of your Son our Savior Jesus thru Whom all things are possible. Amen. :signofcross:

Elvis, were you taught what to believe when catechized? Jesus tells us He is the truth (Jn 14:6) so yes we can all have Jesus. How is that completely confused? 🤷
You are taught to believe as a child in Christ. After that, you believe it because it’s true. You cannot believe at all without the grace of God.

**What you want to believe is that we ALL have the truth - which is moral relativism (your truth is good for you and mine is for me).

Jesus set up ONE Church and he left is in charge here on earth - the FINAL authority (Matt. 16:15-19, 18:15-58, Luke 10:16, John 16:12-15, 20:21-23).
**There is only ONE truth - not many and we are ALL to worship as ONE Church, ONE body - not many sects. **

**For a person who identifies themselves as a “Catholic” in their profile - you certainly do not espouse Catholic beliefs. It’s almost as if you were talking out of both sides of your mouth - much like Tweetymom who is also a moral relativist in denial.

No I don’t deny the One who told us He is the truth. But yes I do have to turn my cheek a lot. 🤷

I don’t disagree with what you are saying since there is always a final authority in life, not just the in the church. But I was also wondering that instead of all the Protestants fighting that their way is the only right way why don’t they just agree that there is a final authority which is the apostolic church? I mean, would it matter. Even if a protestant knows that the Catholic Church is right, the only thing stopping them is that they just don’t like all the aesthetics about the Catholic way of worship. Instead of attacking Catholic doctrine all they would have to do is man up and say is that they prefer their worshiping way’s as a protestant. They will still get into heaven anyways. The way I look at it is they may not have the fullness of truth, but many people don’t like the traditional way of worship and they prefer the newer age worship, so in the end they are still part of the church unofficially as a separated sect which has the same chance for salvation.

That’s impossible. How can you compare the Church with a Protestant church of any stripe and say they both have the full truth, even when they deny each other’s teachings?

That’s illogical, and against the teaching of our Holy Mother, the Catholic Church.

I don’t believe it’s impossible nor illogical to believe the essential truth is Christ.

Am I the only one who find conversations like these to be terribly distressing? They make me almost physically ill to read, and hurt so much.

Jesus loves all of us; I’m a Catholic, and he loves me and the way I choose to worship him and read His word. And he loves Protestants and they way they worship him. As a Catholic I believe I am doing what God wants me to do and has wanted from the beggining, but I also believe he sees the beautiful love in the hearts of all those who follow him, be they Catholic, Protestant, Anglican, whathaveyou.

I’m not trying to go against Church teachings regarding the True church, but I just feel…I don’t know. I know the best of intentions is coming from both sides, but just seeing the frustartion in this thread makes me so sad

That’s not what we’re talking about. You stated the Protestant denominations have “all the truth” equally with the one Church. This is false and the Church is clear about this.

God loves equally all people; Catholic, Protestant, etc.

But God is not only a God of Love, but a God of Truth. Like Pope Leo said, “God is Truth Himself.”

Therefore, He desires we have the fullness of the true present in His one true Church, the holy Catholic Church founded by Christ in A.D 33.

Just because He desires the Protestants to know the fullness of the Truth, does not mean He loves them any less. And neither should we love them any less.

Thank you for responding.

I think my trouble is I’m a very emotional person. I try very very hard to be accepting and loving to everyone, even those who’s beliefs I don’t follow. But with me, when someone speaks things contrary to the word of the Catholic Church, I guess I feel oversensitive and feel like they’re attacking myself and what I believe, even though I know most non Catholic Christians aren’t trying to do this! Many Protestants I’ve met consider Catholicism one of many ways to reach God, but I’ve met my share of those who don’t think the same, and I get such a sick and hurt feeling when I see these sorts of discussions, because I always fear inevitably we’ll see the words, you’re wrong and you’re going to Hell for worshipping like you do, from EITHER side of the debate.

It pains me to see people who will say that to another, no matter what faith they follow, even though I know that’s usually NOT what the purpose of the conversation is!

I…I;m off topic and stressed and rambling, I’m sorry

Some do, some don’t; you would not believe some of the things I heard about the Catholic Church when I was a Protestant.

Well you’re right about one thing: our Catholic Faith forbids us to judge the eternal destiny of any one particular individual, and to do so would be arrogant and a sin. So thank you for reminding us to keep a cool head, both sides can benefit from a calm discussion rather than flinging negative statements at one another.

Anyway, it’s good to have people like you around in these discussions to keep us level-headed. Discussions on these forae can sometimes get pretty heated.

You would be surprised, my friend. On another, non religious forum I go on, I’m kinda famous for my short temper! May God help me not to explode or cry over the smallest thing!

The thing is, IRL, I don’t know any people who are very religious, save my friends grandmother, who is Protestant of the Catholic-hating variety, so it gives me a bad running board to go from.

I’m considering religious counceling to help me with my issues here.

Hey man, sometimes I feel the same way. Recently my temper has been so short over the smallest things and is probably coming out in my posts. But i’ve been praying that hopefully I will be able get it down to normal again.

Where did I say anyone had “all the truth”? I’ve said we all have the truth if we have Jesus because He told us He is the truth. And I believe He is the One essential truth that unites us. So indeed Protestants have the essential truth equally with the CC. But now if you are talking about all the less essential matters, I don’t recall ever saying anyone necessarily had all of them.

I certainly have not meant to leave the impression that anyone is going to hell for worshiping as they do. And if I have I am truly sorry as I in truth believe the exact opposite. I work I pray to portray our unity in Christ as He is the essential cornerstone of our belief. The rest I don’t sweat so much because far more unites us and I am totally about unity and ecumenicism. God bless and peace.

Christians have the Holy Bible, from the Apostles. What informatin do you have that has been passed down that we don’t have.

Tell me what truth are Christians missing?

What Sacred tradition has been added to by the Catholic Church about Jesus that Christians don’t have?

The only traditions I see being added are about Mary, the Pope, indulgences.

Then I feel inclined to ask really what it is? He is only being a defender of the Faith…and when you are being heard, you know you are getting through!
If you think he’s getting through I think you are wrong. He is hurting your cause, IMO.
