Go OWS protesters.

I’ve signed the getmoneyout.com petition to constitutionally amend our political financing process and make it illegal for corps to buy off our elected leaders. This would be accomplished through public financing of all elections. Any broadcaster in the US would be required to donate X amount of free broadcast time for US elections as a requisite of keeping or obtaining an FCC broadcasting license.

Get corps out of our elections now!

Except when it comes to their own freedom to echo whatever their socialist puppeteers talk about of course.

Well I’ll tell you, now that they’re here in New-Haven spending their…umm…hard earned money at Small Business’s. I say they should visit every city across America and help us out with the economy. 😃 👍

As stated long as you clean-up your mess, don’t break the law…Power To You.

However their list of demands are a bit on the far side. 😃 👍

Don’t worry all they will be following the warm weather, we here are already getting ready for “winter”.

So you would force taxpayers to fund canidates who’s views they find repugnant? You would force a free press to allow govt control of what they broadcast. As always the lefts solution to evertyhing is to restrict freedom.

Of course Israel does not equal the Jews (spare me the condescension please). But many Jew haters hide behind the banner of anti-Zionism and many of them are leftists. Notice I didn’t say all of the left hates the Jews. In general, the left is opposed to the Jews. Recently, there has been opposition to Israel in the name of anti-colonialism. Here is an excerpt from an article I found interesting.

It is at the farthest reaches of the Left, where there is a fixation with the Palestinians, that we find the brashest expressions of anti- Semitism. Among the mosaic of groups that compose the “antiglobalization” movement, as well as among the remnants of the New Left, anti-Semitic rhetoric and symbolism is rife. The UN World Conference against Racism in Durban in September 2001, the conferences organized by the World Social Forum in India and Brazil, and the marches in several European cities against the U.S.- led intervention in Iraq are all examples of public events where Jews have been actively denigrated. Such displays have commonly been presented as manifestations of the “new anti-Semitism,” generally dated back to September 2000, when the second Palestinian intifada began. Decidedly, this “new” anti-Semitism, which would deny self-determination to the Jews even as it celebrates this principle for other nationalities, is driven by the Left, and not the Right. Even so, it is far from new.6
Oh give me a break ishii. I could scour under every rock in my campus, interview hundreds of leftists before I would find one that wants to deny Israel statehood. That is an extremist position. Virtually all ‘leftists’ want a two state solution. Only people who get their information from political blogs might be mislead into thinking that they all want to abolish Israel. They are not hiding anything. Many of the people I know who criticize Israel’s policies toward the Palestinians are Jews themselves. Oh, that’s right, they must be self-hating Jews, right?

I imagine I must be an anti-Semite as well, because I want the settlements to stop expanding. After all, to deny Israel’s God-given right to all the land between the Jordan and the Mediterranean is an anti-Semite II presume. Funny, you know, because you probably complain about liberals calling conservatives racists all the time. And yet, everyone who isn’t a Likudnik and occasionally fancies that an Arab is just as much a person as a Jew is, what? A racist!

And I suppose most Jews then, being on the left, are self-hating Jews? Now conservative gentiles are the authority on deciding who is or is not a good Jew? Interesting.
Oh, did you think that since I made the generalization that the far left is anti-Jewish that all those on the left is anti-Jewish? If you see the Jews as convincing proof of the Divine working in our world (indeed the existence of the divine) then it makes total sense for the atheist left to resent and hate the Jews. The pervasive trend on college campuses is that of solidarity with Palestine, and a profound distrust with “wall street”. The cause celeb on college campuses is anti-Israel and anti-neocon (code words for anti-Jew). There was a young girl who went to protest Israel and ended up getting bull-dozed by the Israelis. What do you think caused her to do such a thing? Its obvious that her college professor (the leftists at Evergreen State U.) inspired her.
Now this is just insane. She got bulldozed by the Israelis, and you’re blaming her college professor? That, you have to realize, is moral idiocy. Come on! The person who performs the act is the one responsible for it, or at the very least, the one most responsible for it. I’m guessing you think that an Israeli pilot who drops a bomb that kills a dozen civilians to nab one suspected terrorist is completely innocent; no, it’s Hamas that provoked him to do it. No, people have a choice in how they respond, they are not mere functions of their environments.

And opposition to neoconservatism is not anti-Semitism. That is ridiculous. Neo-conservatism a foreign policy ideology that favors intervention in foreign conflicts that use of military force , and many people call themselves neo-conservatives. Are you honestly saying that to criticize the Iraq War, or to criticize American support of the Saudi regime, is anti-Semitic, because I the neo-conservative agenda supports it, it is therefore Jewish, and to criticize it is anti-Semitic? Seriously, why don’t you try using logic for a change. Equating neo-conservatives with Jews is just nonsense. Most neo-conservatives are not Jews, and most Jews are not neo-conservatives.

And your generalization itself was wrong. Maybe, again, if you actually knew some of the people you’re libeling, you would see the ridiculousness of it. The overwhelming majority of the ‘leftists’ I know are not remotely anti-Semitic. Stop getting you information from right-wing blogs. How many of these so-called leftists do you actually know, that warrants you to make these generalizations?

And of course, anyone who cares for the welfare of the Palestinians is also an anti-Semite. Got it. They’re unpersons undeserving of sympathy or help. I suppose people who want to fight AIDS in the Conngo are Afro-centrists too then?

I think you fail to understand the nature of the far left, particularly in Europe. Anti-semitism has had a resurgence among the left in Europe. But it is pervasive in college campuses in America too.
I live on a college campus and I was in Europe (Germany and Austria) recently, and I’m sorry to say that you are wrong. You read on some news reports or some blogs or some pundit’s book about the ‘ New Anti-Semitism.’ There always has, and always will be, in a continent of half a billion people, a certain number of lunatics who hate Jews. But prevalent? Not at all. Most Germans, I will say, don’t like the way the Palestinians are being treated (I suppose that’s all you need though to convince yourself they are anti-Semites), but virtually all of them, every single one that I met and discussed the matter with, is very much wary of ant-Semitism, its irrationality, and the problems it causes. I can’t speak for other European countries I haven’t visited, but their “left wing” educations system makes sure to teach them about their history and the problems of anti-Semitism and such exclusivist ideologies. As for college campuses, again, you probably read the Daniel Pipes’s Campus Watch forum or something like that. Well, if you choose the sources that agree with your preconceptions, then nothing I can say can convince you to judge the situation impartially.

Equating free speech to a corp’s discretionary spending account during our elections is a decision our SCOTUS will regret and amend before these OWS protests are truly over.

It is a primary requisite of the OWS movement that clearly illustrates its difference from the tea party movement. They are polar opposites from each other.

OWS knows that both our political parties are guilty of corruption and collusion that serves only corporations rather than their own citizen constituents here in the US.

SCOTUS needs to be spanked, tarred and feathered before taking the first rail out of DC, intellectually speaking of course.

Since OWS stands for nothing they are not polar opposites to anything. I know you would like to take my money to promote you political views but fortunately thats not going to happen

I’d prefer we go back to the old way of doing things like with the first several presidents. Nobody campaigns at all, in fact no one ven admits that he wants to be president, at least have a facade of humility.

Find the address yourself. You want a job, don’t you? I haven’t heard of any cases of influenza among fruit pickers in eastern Washington state. If there were any, I am sure the media would have reported it. So you shouldn’t worry. Just get over there and start picking.

On the other hand, there ARE other jobs available … that pay well … but they require skills.

Evidently very few employers want to hire people whose skill-set consists of complaining.

The way that political correctness works, and with the separation of church and state, which now means the separation of state from funding any views and values of the religious, there are already limits to what will be filtered out of any publically funded discussion.
Those who advocate big government of course have no problem with government setting the agenda of what is worthwhile being funded and being discussed, and what is not.
And with government also in control handing out broadcasting licenses in the first place, they are in a very good position to ensure that the broadcasters are delivering the correct message whether paid for or financed by the broadcasters own enforced charity.
Suffice it to say, Hugo Chavez would approve of this kind of political action. It suits that kind of government very well indeed, and that is what the American left is now pushing for too.

  1. Frank is a congressman and Dodd an ex senator. They do not have the power to force banks. They have to initiate and pass legislation which takes a majority in congress, senate and either get a presidents approval or a veto orverride. Hence there are a lot of people involved in this mess and the wheeling and dealing.
  2. There was a law the Glass Seagall act which prevented the banks from speculating with the money deposited with them which is insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
This law was repealed. (94 of 100 senators voted for the repeal) This removed the firewall between the bank deposits and the investment banks and so they created CDO’s.
The bad home loans were to the tune of 2.4 billion dollars but the CDO obligations ran into trillions. The banks and investment houses made trillions selling them but when the investments went bad they passed the losses on to the Government.
  3. It is sad that all the people involved cannot sit down and come up with a plan on how the country can get out of this mess but it is being used as a political football

I must say it’s very encouraging to be on the side of the 99%'s, and not on the side of the 1%'s like the tea party.

Gives me hope as a christian with christian values that places faith in God rather than corporations that don’t die like we do.

Who’s serving mammon?

The tea party, or OWS protesters?

OSW does not represent 99% They are a fringe group that has no goals, no purposes and offers no solutions other than envy and coveting the goods of others

The 99 percent shouldn’t have any problem taking care of business then.

After all there is what 297 million of you and 3 million of them…

You go jomoco, you and your buddies take down WS and corrupt government…should have it all taken care of by at least the next two election cycles.

Breathe deep Bob.

It’s OWS. and they do represent the majority of Americans who want to return to taxing millionaires and billionaires progressively. That we’ve done this since the early 20th century to win two world wars bodes well for us in the majority. It’s called democracy.

Very very American with an impeccable historic pedegree of winning when it really counts.
