Who are the protesters behind Occupy Wall Street–and what do they want?

This whole farce is increasingly reminding me of Cindy Shehhan and her “protests” remember when she was the media darling and the start of an uprising of angry Americans? Anybody know where she is today?
Divorced and alone, reaping the fruits that she sowed with her own hand.

On an interesting note, Sheehan is Catholic :eyeroll: and ran against Pelosi in the 2007 primary becuase Pelosi isn’t socialist enough. Yes, she is an avowed socialist…and “ardent Catholic”.

It is sad that Obama would use the dedication of the Martin Luther King memorial for such a crass political purpose.
Did you expect different? I would have been shocked to the core of my being if he kept it simply a pure, politics-free memorial.

I reiterate, this is the MOST divisive, partisan “President” in this countries history. I think he enjoys antagonizing people who disagree with him.

Obama was and always will be a community organizer/activist. He sees this as the ultimate community to organise in his favor for re election.

Reverting to what he knows how to do does seem to be what he is doing. Pitting one class against the other and creating class warfare to get his agenda through.

Is this where we want the country to be? Is this how we want our country led?

‘Follow the Red Flag!’
By Kevin D. Williamson

I’ve been spending as much time as I can down at Occupy *Wall *Street, listening to the speeches, reading the literature, talking to the organizers. Here’s something to keep in mind: You’ll hear in a lot of the conservative media that this is some kind of socialist/communist enterprise piggybacking on a populist protest. In reality, it is much worse than even most of the conservative media is reporting.

Almost every organization present at OWS is explicitly communist or socialist. Almost every piece of literature being handed out is explicitly communist or socialist. I don’t mean half, and I don’t mean the overwhelming majority — I mean almost all of it. Yes, there are the usual union goons trying to figure out how to get OWS to do the bidding of the AFL-CIO and the Democratic party, and the usual smattering of New Age goo (the “Free Empathy” table) and po-mo Left wackiness (animal-rights nuts), the inevitable Let’s-Eradicate-Israel crowd (“Free Palestine, from the river to the sea!”). But, that being said, almost every organized enterprise and piece of printed material I have encountered has been socialist or communist. It’s been a long time since I saw anybody peddling books by Lenin. It’s been a long time since anybody told me the Ukrainians had it coming.

It is interesting that those opposed to OWS would quote the recovering alcoholic and drug addict, Glenn Beck.
What does Glenn Beck’s previous substance abuse issues have to do with anything other than ad hominem? And you wonder why those of us on the right constantly say that all the left has in their holster is character assassination. Why don’t you attack the substance or credibility of his message, rather than go after the messenger in an attempt to discredit HIM because of past issues. I have lots of friends and family that are recovered substance abusers. I’d rather be friends with these fallen and recovered people than some self-righteous person who pretends that his/her life is a model of perfection.

Why is that strange?

I mean, why considering that he’s a recovering alcoholic and drug addict rather than considering what some of the other ideas he holds are?

When you got nothing you attack the messenger. Like the king that kills the messenger for delivering the bad news that the battle was lost…

I see. So the people who make personal attacks on the OWS folks as scruffy hooligans are admitting that they “have nothing”?

The fact is that both sides in any heated dispute “attack the messenger.” People shouldn’t, but they do. It doesn’t prove that the folks doing it have no better argument, only that making personal attacks is easier.

The inanity of Glenn Beck’s ideas stands on its own in all its grotesque splendor, and needs no support from any past personal flaws of Mr. Beck.
