Go find one part of the Catechism that says we must vote Republican.
I’ll show you the part in the Bible where it says you can’t vote liberal: THOU SHALT NOT KILL

I’m not saying you have to vote republican either

I’d refer you to one of the eleventy thousand posts on this forum about how no true Catholic can be a Democrat.
Or, alternatively, to the equal number of posts conclusively proving that no true Catholic can be a Republican.

Does liberal in your usage simply mean one who supports abortion?

Republican Party supports the death penalty… perhaps you forgot that’s also against thou shalt not kill?

Can’t have it both ways.

And I can’t vote for someone who has had multiple affairs, potential sexual assaults, and is supported by the KKK in good conscience.
You should know that have just described Bill Clinton in actuality, not in potentially, regarding sexual assaults.

You also should know that the KKK was formed to resist the Republican Party during Re-Construction Era.

Excerpts from the article:

“Founded in 1865, the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) extended into almost every southern state by 1870 and became a vehicle for white southern resistance to the Republican Party’s Reconstruction-era policies aimed at establishing political and economic equality for black Americans. Its members waged an underground campaign of intimidation and violence directed at white and black Republican leaders. Though Congress passed legislation designed to curb Klan terrorism, the organization saw its primary goal–the reestablishment of white supremacy–fulfilled through Democratic victories in state legislatures across the South in the 1870s. After a period of decline, white Protestant nativist groups revived the Klan in the early 20th century, burning crosses and staging rallies, parades and marches denouncing immigrants, Catholics, Jews, African Americans and organized labor. The civil rights movement of the 1960s also saw a surge of Ku Klux Klan activity, including bombings of black schools and churches and violence against black and white activists in the South…”

This derailed quickly.
I’m amazed it stayed on topic as long as it did, to be honest.

In terms of Democrat or Republican, there is no teaching that says Catholics should or should not vote for either of them. It’s a matter of personal judgement. The document @TheLittleLady linked to is good.

Speaking as a non religious person, I’d find it impossible to vote for Trump and for Biden. I’d have to look third party. But then, I’m not American so…

Cmon… if you are going to use facts use them right. The Republican Party back then is today’s Democratic Party. Southern democrats left the party over civil rights and became republicans. Meaning, the KKK was against today’s democrats and supported today’s republicans.

Don’t try to put a square peg in a circle hole, it won’t work.

Yes but that is a much less common occurrence. I agree with you though and can I stress again I’M JUST SAYING YOU SHOULDN’T VOTE LIBERAL.
Since you’re Catholic I recommend looking into Catholic social teaching. Broaden your horizons beyond whatever you’ve been reading or watching.

This is on topic, I am clarifying what he means my “liberal”. We cannot discuss the topic if we are using two different definitions.

I know the church teaches you can personally judge on who you can vote for and doesn’t say you have to vote for a particular party.

But you are still responsible for what you do pick. I don’t think a Catholic can support someone who is in favour of heavy abortion in good conscience. IMHO

I’m sure you can clarify that without asking “so do you also despise Pope Francis”.

Please let’s keep on topic of “who would you vote for”. Please.

So you’re not familiar with Catholic social teaching?

Last I heard, Pope Francis isn’t running for office. 😉

But also, to make the jump between asking people to not vote liberal And claiming someone must despise the pope is really a bit much.
