Who would you vote for in America?

Okay let me rephrase my question. How do you define liberal? As someone who supporters abortion? Or someone who wants economic and social reforms (such as Pope Francis as an example). In the same way, how do you define Conservative? Trump is not one. McCain was. Or from a religious sense, JPII.

We cannot discuss what liberal means if we are using two different definitions.

Cmon… if you are going to use facts use them right. The Republican Party back then is today’s Democratic Party. Southern democrats left the party over civil rights and became republicans. Meaning, the KKK was against today’s democrats and supported today’s republicans.

Don’t try to put a square peg in a circle hole, it won’t work.
Here are more facts:

Excerpts from the article:

“Remind me, again, who was behind all the “violent bigotry” of the Civil War? Oh, yeah, it was Democrats. And who was behind all the vestiges of it over the last century? Democrats.

Mrs. Pelosi knows this, of course, because she worked shoulder-to-shoulder for 23 years beside a retired member of the Ku Klux Klan. That would, of course, be the “great senator” from the “great state” of West Virginia, Robert C. Byrd, a lifelong Democrat.

As the “Exalted Cyclops” of the KKK, Mr. Byrd recruited more than 100 people to join his chapter and warned in a letter against America becoming “degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.”

Modern-day Democrats denounced Byrd in 1989 by naming the suite of offices in the U.S. Capitol that house Democrat leadership the “Robert C. Byrd Rooms.”

Not worth arguing this clearly. As I said before, the Democrats during the civil war were southern democrats which left the party and became republicans. Not the same Democratic Party.

I have a political science degree, I did happen to study this more than just reading one website link…

You are the one making it into two different definitions. You are the one that brought Pope Francis into the discussion, insinuating that he is a liberal and that the other person despises him.

but I’d have to actually research both of the president candidate policies before doing much of anything haha, and I honestly don’t know if I’ll have the time to give the issues justice in researching, if that makes sense.
Yes, please do the research. You should be an informed voter…

It seems to me, the issue is that abortion is being used to describe the entire essence of what it means to be “liberal” and we are forgetting the Social Teachings of the Catholic Church which are just as important when determining who to vote for.

I assume that this poster does like Pope Francis and therefore, if this is the case, then there is an inconsistency in how they view what “liberal means”, which is my point.

This doesn’t make any sense. Please make your point without connecting Pope Francis to it.

I would NEVER vote for a Democrat and I think any true Catholic shouldn’t as they stand for everything not Catholic.
So, the pro-life democrats here in the deep south, I can’t vote for them? I am more worried about the person than the party. (But I certainly would not vote for Joe Biden).

There are 26 million pro-life Democrats in the US
Joe Biden and the Democratic Party support abortion up to live birth and beyond.

More than 650 abortions (babies killed) were executed per year in recent years in the US alone. The most dangerous place for a baby to be is in his/her mother’s womb…

How could the 26 million pro-life Democrats turn their back on these innocent babies?

Voting for Trump, not happy about it, not even as happy about it as I was a month ago, voting straight Republican for Senate and House, for one reason and one reason only — the possibility of pro-life Supreme Court justices and federal judges.

Also, a large portion of the American people cannot accept the concept of an electoral college, that sometimes elects a president who did not win the popular vote. The Constitution did not foresee two parties (or parties at all, for that matter), nor for that matter electors being selected by the voters. What the selection of a President has morphed into, is kind of “a square peg in a round hole”. But another, less pressing reason I am voting for Trump, is to increase the chance that he might actually win the popular vote, as well as the electoral college, and give his opponents one less reason to complain. (Don’t worry, they’d still have many other reasons.)

Bernie Sanders and AOC are "center-right Democrats, really? Ok…The Democrat Party of today is not the Democrats of yesteryear. Joe Biden is not going to be able to govern and/or hold back the forces of whatever you choose to call it. He is too cognitively impaired/weak. Whoever he picks as VP is probably going to be a socialist. When/if he resigns (he already hinted that he might not be able to make it for a full term) that socialist will take over the country. The people on that side of the spectrum (in the Democrat party, especially the socialist wing which has all the momentum now) want unfettered immigration, complete open borders, giving every possible benefit under the sun to those illegal immigrants, they want to abolish the Immigration and Customs Enforcement;

They want to spend untold trillions of dollars on a “Green New Deal”, unknown trillions on “Medicare for all” (when asked, Bernie said, “no one knows how much it would cost”; taxes would have to go up for all; these things will completely bankrupt our nation, people of all classes will suffer; How will that be good for our national security?; they want to empty prisons because they feel that most were put there unjustly; they now want to dismantle police and use social workers to deal with criminals, they want to punish those who don’t use the proper pronouns, they support unlimited trans rights even as many feminists themselves are not on board with that because it harms women, they claim everything they don’t like is racist, they are obsessed with "white privilege and inducing guilt in white people which is ridiculous because what is anyone supposed to do about being born white; they try to destroy anyone that disagrees with them; they want to destroy the traditional family; and just last year the Governor of Virginia talked about the possibility of killing a new born full term baby, “keeping it comfortable until the mother decides”. Call it whatever you want, I don’t want to live in a country run by these people. (And I don’t think that most of the people who are fighting for it would want to live in it once it comes.)

In the last election I didn’t vote for president. I won’t make that mistake again.

I’m not a Democrat (my state THANKFULLY does not require I register with a political party), but I think making statements like that is unfair to pro-life Democrats.

If Joe Biden wins in November, you’re going to have Godless leftists in charge of everything. People who are totally hostile to the traditional family and religion (by their own admission) and yes, that includes BLM, will be running everything. The left is very angry and out for revenge and total transformation of this country. And that is one scary proposition.
Trump did the unforgiveable as far as the Democrat party is concerned. He appointed two prolife justices to the Supreme Court, allowed states to defund Planned Parenthood, reinstated the Mexico City policy, and allowed the Little Sisters of the Poor off the Obama Mandate that forced them to be complicit with abortifacients or pay fines they could never pay.

That’s why he’s so hated. The Dems work hard to find other bases to hate him, but the ridiculous show in the Kavanaugh hearings tell you everything there is to know about what’s really at stake.

Unfortunately, some number of Catholics will vote for Biden for any number of false reasons. Some of them will be sincere, some really do believe in abortion on demand.

But I believe in three things primarily when it comes to this election. First is life itself. I refuse to be complicit in the vicious death of a million babies per year. I might go to hell, but it won’t be for supporting that. Second, I believe in the Social Encyclicals which espouse opportunities for people to work gainfully and to acquire family assets. The Dem party thinks it can manage my earnings better than I can and thinks someone else’s family is more deserving of my labor than my own family. Anybody else’s. Just not mine.

Third, Julian Assange is an objectionable person in a number of ways, but he did Catholics in this country a favor. He exposed that the Dem party thinks the Catholic Church is “backward”, “medieval” and needed to change. He exposed that it supports dissident organizations whose purpose is to undercut and destroy the Church, like Catholics United. That party, which was once the party of Catholics is now the enemy of Catholicism. It’s too bad, but they sold their soul for the sake of money from Planned Parenthood and other abortion organizations. But despite the fact that I was raised Democrat and worked for the party earlier in life, I jumped ship and wasn’t part of the sale inventory.
