What happens at a Temple endowment?
Firstly anyone can attend the Temple as long as they adhere to the requirements of the Lord, …
What are the requirements for secrecy, and where are they found? Anyone can attend Mass.and find out what the Mass consists of.
- I no this is not the answer that you are fishing for.*
I’ll admit it was a trick question.
Does the LDS church teach that God lives on a planet? Did it ever?
(snipped for brevity) * the Savior said that the Meek will inherit the EARTH ? … does it mean that God will Live on a planet? of course it does! *
Nowhere in the Bible does it say that God lived or lives on the earth, or any planet. He was in existence before the earth was made. See Genesis 1:1.
Does it teach that God was once man? Did it ever?
"as man is, God once was, as God is, man may become.” If a [Mormon] prophet of God taught this principle then your answer is yes.
A “yes or no” answer! Thank you!
Does it teach that men can become gods with their own worlds full of spirit children? Did it ever?
I do believe the [below] scriptures will answer this question.
I’ve seen this collection of verses before, put together to prove the Mormon contention.
Ps 82:1, 6
GOD standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods
I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes. Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations. (Ps 82:7-8, KJV)
John 10:34
Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
The context here is that the Jews are denying Him as the “I Am” and Son of God. He says, “if you don’t believe me, believe your sacred writings.” The Jews would remember the whole psalm,
including the ending. They would also remember this passage in Isaiah: “Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye
are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold
it together. Behold, ye
are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination
is he that chooseth you. (Isaiah 41:23-24, KJV)
Ps 86:8
Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord; neither are there any works like unto thy works.
Ps 136:2
give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.
When those psalms were written, Israel was surrounded by pagan countries with pagan gods. The point of the Psalmist is that God was then (and is still) the real God, above all the false pagan ones.
1 Cor 8:5-6
For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.
Paul is talking about idols, not about Christian beliefs. The RSV (and putting it into context) makes it a little more clear:
Hence, as to the eating of food offered to idols, we know that “an idol has no real existence,” and that “there is no God but one.” For although there may be so-called gods in heaven or on earth – as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords” – yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist. 1 Cor 8:4-6 (RSV)
Does it teach that Jesus and Satan are brothers? Did it ever?
the hosts of heaven … were the spirit children of our Heavenly Father … we know that JESUS is a son of God, who then was satan … he is also a son of God, that makes him our brother and a brother of JESUS CHRIST
I’ll grant you that the question implies a distorted view of what Mormons believe. But could you, please, refer me to the source for the angels being God’s “spirit children?” I searched the phrase at
scripture.lds.org and couldn’t find it.
Does it teach that dark skinned people are cursed by God for being spiritually impure? Did it ever?
Yes it is in our scriptures.
Do you know that this is the first time I have seen a straight “yes or no” answer on this from a Mormon? Thank you. Seriously.
Can you address how it happened that dark-skinned men are now allowed to be in the LDS priesthood? (Bet you knew that one was coming!)
Quote:
The Catholic Church has 100% of its teachings in the public domain. Does the LDS? (I already know the answer to this one from my own researches.)
*You Know the answer
*
Yes, I do. I got it at
scripture.lds.org, when I saw that it contained only “selections” from the Book of Moses, from Joseph Smith’s translation of the Bible.
Thank you very much for respecting me enough to answer those questions. Other LDS on these forums have either ignored them, or begun to answer and then changed the subject. I appreciate you, Ronald!
