The term "traditional’ is shorthand for traditional Roman Rite. And for the record, I and my fellow Eastern Catholics as much traditional Catholic as any Latin Christian.
Hypocritical more to the point.Emeraldlady:![]()
You find some people to be insulting. You do not like this (or them?).On the other hand there are numerous instances of unprovoked and insulting bashing going the other way.
Did I understand that correctly?
Well, none of us is perfect.Hypocritical more to the point.
I don’t see how this at all relates to calling the OF inferior or saying Catholics are uneducated for disliking the TLM.For me, if this wasn’t true:
“a majority of Catholics do not believe that the bread and wine used at Mass become the body and blood of Christ”
And if this wasn’t true:
"Nearly 70 percent of Catholic women use sterilization, the birth control pill or an IUD, "
I might have some sympathy for those who think traditional Catholicism is “bashing” them.
But perhaps we need to shine some light on problems and be willing to say that some things are not going well?
Who here even fits that definition?I think the OP is not looking for opinions from misinformed and uneducated Catholics who frown on Catholic tradition.
Completely agree. Vatican II did encourage more participation from the laity in evangelizing and defending the faith, charitably, though yes.But perhaps we need to shine some light on problems and be willing to say that some things are not going well?
Those problems could be caused by uneducated and misinformed Catholics, who also happen to oppose the TLM.I don’t see how this at all relates to calling the OF inferior or saying Catholics are uneducated for disliking the TLM.
But grave sin is not a non traditionalist hallmark. It is a problem with traditionalists as well. For me, if this wasn’t true:
“a majority of Catholics do not believe that the bread and wine used at Mass become the body and blood of Christ”

Agreed. Healthy argument is necessary, I think. We should strive for understanding of each other, even of those who are our enemies. Jesus commanded that we love our enemies. So, we must be charitable, but also not avoid saying things which can be helpful although unpleasant.I find that there is no one group of Catholics more charitable or more uncharitable than the other. It takes two to argue or debate.
Understood. But grave sin is not a non traditionalist hallmark. It is a problem with traditionalists as well.
I thought it was for all Catholics, no?But I think this forum is for those who identify as traditional Catholics.
That is a suffering shared with many in the traditional Roman Rite. It should never happen that way.You may have missed the multiple posts we’ve had in this board over the years where Eastern Catholics have been told that we aren’t even really Catholic.
And yet, you only joined 3 days ago.CAF has used these designations for over 10 years now
So, I think we see something wrong with your understanding at this point. And yet, you only joined 3 days ago.![]()
Major gap in your logic. Many Catholics don’t see these as problems. They see them as solutions and reason to celebrate since we need to “get with the rest of Christianity” even though the rest of Christianity left Catholicism (notice how the ecumenical movement has one direction = Catholics becoming less Catholic)But perhaps we need to shine some light on problems and be willing to say that some things are not going well?
