You assume way too much. Isn’t this the same exact thing you accuse Protestants of when it comes to Catholic teaching? You are wrong about no Protestants being within Apostolic Succession as well. I don’t know, maybe you don’t consider Anglicans Protestant.
Do you protest to anything, even if it is only one thing, the Catholic Church teaches? If you do, then you are a Protestant.

And yes, we Catholics DO consider Anglicans to be Protestants.

Once a priest, always a priest (“You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchisadek”). So he could always validly consecrate the bread and wine.
Yes, I didn’t think about that. I guess it would just be illicit then.

That’s ok. I know some Anglicans who do, too.

the body of Jesus and the wine to the blood of Jesus?
I see nowhere in the rules that it cant be done
Are they still trying??? You mean…
They haven’t gave up, yet??? That they just CAN’T?

I couldn’t care less about pope Leo. I care about my Anglican priests who follow and teach what Christ taught his Apostles. They are in Apostollic Succession and they know it.
Not what I hear from the Journey Home on EWTN. Another Anglican priest converts to Catholicism and cites hundreds of others. The only thing making this slow down is the politics in the Church. Now the new wave will most likely go straight to Rome. You losing this battle…You need to come back home to your faith…We Catholics would welcome you back home with open arms. You should already be used to confession in the Anglican church. That’ all you need to do.

I’m feeling a song…
“Come Home” but that’s my former Protesting faith.

Hmm, thats funny. I don’t see my priest converting or wishing to convert to the RCC. I don’t see two other priests I know who have converted from the RCC to the Anglican church wanting to go back. I am home. If you only knew the touch of the Holy Spirit you would be here with us. God bless you just the same.

My aren’t we twisted. I’ll let you know how that Charismatic reatreat goes in 2 weeks I guess. You couldn’t handle what I’ve experienced in my own life. But you are among dissenters that hate Catholciism which I find ironic. But it’s you life…be at peace I’m taking you off of my list so that I can be at peace. You are seriously twisted with evil intents form what I gather. You have proven to be quite hostile. Standing in a garage doesn’t make you a car. Recalling a scripture doesn’t make you correct. ’

You know, you’re like talking to a spoiled child. And from what I know, a spoiled old man. Always having to have your way even if it’s wrong.

Hello. Would you please post the history of the succession of Anglican priests, bishops etc. from the Apostles? Is the Anglican Church and the Church of England one and the same. A little hazy on my history here. Thanks.

Once upon a time, if you said Anglican, you meant Church of England. But now there are a number of self-governing (38, officially) Anglican jurisdictions who form the official Anglcian Communion, defined as being in communion with the Archbishop of Canterbury. The Episcopal Church in the US is one such. It’s Anglican, but not CoE. And there are Anglican jurisdictions not in communion with Canterbury, due to disagreements with the direction of contemporary official Anglicanism

Anglican Apsotolic Succession s the same as the RCC’s, through Henry’s period. Afterwards, it splits, as does such Churches as the Old Catholics of Utrecht, or the PNCC, later. Records of such succession are maintained, though I have no idea how you might find them. I used to have a link to some of the lines, but I lost it. It’s not a mystery, though. Anglicans keep the same sort of records as does the RCC.

The issue you raise relates to the findings of Apostolicae Curae, in 1896, as to the validity of Anglican orders. The usual point of departure is given as the consecration of Archbishop Parker in 1559, based on a judgement of the form used in the Edwardine Ordinal at that time (it has been changed), for consecration of bishops, and to presumed intent. Otherwise, Anglican orders and Apostolic Succession would be judged valid, but illicit, similar to the Orthodox, and a few others.

History is complicated.

Says who?
The simple answer:

The Catholic church is the one, true church that Christ intended to exist after His ascension into heaven and of which He left Peter as its first Pope - 263 popes later to Pope Benedict XVI.

Nothing and no one will prevail against her.

Do you want to understand this??

Then pray the rosary, everyday

Return to the catholic church - and when you do - go to confession weekly

Recieve the Eucharist, weekly… and do the basic catholic things really well and don’t stray from the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church ever!!

Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum.

How wrong you are.

Please don’t wait until the Warning, the Miracle and the Chastisement to come home.

When these events come to pass - there will be a “coming home en masse”.

The important thing…is that we no matter what faith we profess, all are made in God’s image and likeness. And that Jesus died for all of us…and wants us all in heaven.

We should all be working for that same end…to get as many people as we can to heaven, in the best way we know how. That’s probably why we are all here. To celebrate our similarities, not the differences.

Ok, I will submit to your comment. Now pretend Jesus is standing in front of you. Now repeat your comment to Jesus. What do you think he would say? Do you think Jesus was kidding when he established his church upon Peter? Do you think Jesus was kidding when he commanded and ordained his apostles to conduct the last supper Mass, for all to do in “rememberance of Me”? Do you think Jesus was kidding when he said " take eat this is my body, take drink this is my blood in the new and everlasting covenant"?

We cant get people to heaven to have eternal life. Only Jesus can get people to heaven. Jesus commanded Peter to feed, teach and baptise his people. Jesus commanded his apostles his church, to “eat his body and drink his blood” in order to have eternal life. The successors of the apostles are in the Catholic church, and they cant get you to heaven. The bishops can only give you what they have recieved from what was given to them from the apostles, who received from Jesus, the body and blood of Jesus Christ in order for you to have eternal life. Any one outside this anointing from Jesus handed down through the apostles are not of the anointing laying on of hands, cannot consecrate the bread and wine in persona christi, without this anointing given to them from Jesus himself.

I can appreciate your comment, but then when I think about it, why did Jesus establish baptism, Eucharist, (7 sacraments) in order to enter into the kingdom of God, and have eternal life, by consuming his body and blood, not to mention a new priesthood in himself where he is standing in heaven as though slained offering his eternal sacrifice to God for our sins, to be given for all past ages, present peoples and those that are not born yet. This is the perpetual sacrifice made eternally, and conducted by his ordained priesthood, which are the successors of the apostles the bishops of the Catholic church, who follow the command from Jesus to “do this in rememberance of me”. All these priests are under the High Priest Jesus Christ in heaven who offers his eternal sacrifice in the form of bread and wine according to the order of Melchezedeck who offered sacrifice with bread and wine, who was a priestly king with no beginning and no end, Just like our Lord Jesus Christ who fulfills this prophecy.

Peace be with you

I understand what you are saying…and as a cradle Catholic, I agree entirely that Jesus established His church on the earth and through His apostles and sacraments, we are fed.

However, in our catechism, it also says from Matthew 25… nccbuscc.org/nab/bible/matthew/matthew25.htm,
that at the final judgment of the goats and the sheep will be separated by the way, they clothed the naked, fed the hungry etc. because they did it unto him…

So those who have no opportunity to learn about Christ, can be equally saved if they did acts of love…because they know love…and God is love.

However, for us, who do know know and have been given the truth through the church, its teachings, traditions and sacraments…we will be judged accordingly.

That’s why as St.Francis of Assisi said…we should preach often and when necessary use words, that applies particularly to us, who have been taught about Jesus Christ and His great act of salvation for all humankind.

Hi Hisalone,

Can any united states citizen be the President of the United States of America? YES!

However, you would have to be “Elected First”

Same with Any man who wants to be a priest is Elected by God through the Succesors of the Apostles ONLY! God has given his authority to the Succesors of the Apostles through their hands at Mass which the Bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.

A protestant misnister has not the authority from God!

Hisalone, You can argue all you want but you are not arguing with us Catholics you are arguing with Jesus, The head of the Catholic Church.

Ever seen the film “Escape from Alcatraz”?
There you’ll find the answer. Similar situation. Near the end of the film.
Better off the man he didn’t totally lost his sleep. He gave up. He realized he couldn’t do it alone…
What’s the point? … the “links” were gone!

So there is no reason that a Protestant minister cant consecrate the bread and wine. All you have given me is that you beleive that one must be in apostolic succession. Where did you get that?
Judas was in apostlic succession and a lot of good it did him, You guys tend to make up things as you go along te claim that te Catholic Curch is the same as 2000 years ago is simply ludicrous.
There are several denominations that claim apostolic succession te Catholic Churc is but one.
Everyone hear has given you very clear, concise, accurate and historically sound information as to why only a catholic priest, bishop or cardinal can consecrate the bread and wine.

Your premise is that the catholic church is one of “many” with apostolic succession…

Your other premise is that either as a symbol or literally - that protestant ministers can and do consecrate the bread and wine…

To me it sounds like protestants are becoming “home-sick”. Imitating the traditions of the of the catholic church that they left long ago because of a few mis-guided disagreements.

The catholic church is the one, true church that Christ intended to exist after His ascension into heaven and of which He left Peter as its first Pope - 263 popes later to Pope Benedict XVI.

This will not change. Nothing or no one will ever prevail against her.

Priests, bishops and cardinals of the one, holy, catholic and apostolic church are the only ones who truly consecrate…all others are imitators of the real thing… this will not change!

Protestant minister can call it what they want…that’s their prerogative…it will be yet another point of divergence.

Argue as you will - it will not change a thing in the catholic church.
It may change something in your congregation…but not in the one, true catholic church.

If protestants are anxious for the real consecration, then they should come home and stay home.

Pax Domini sit semper vobiscum.
