And you don’t have to. Just because the current political situation in the US means that there are only 2 “major” parties does not mean that there are only 2 choices. I don’t remember ever seeing a presidential ballot with less than 3, and I seem to recall one with at least 5, choices and there is nothing at all preventing you from writing in Mickey Mouse, or Kanye West, or even yourself. But not voting at all is refusing to participate.I will not give my vote to a lesser evil.
On a related note, I recall a discussion many years ago on a Usenet group I was part of about a proposal to include “None of the Above” as a printed choice on all ballots for all election contests. One part of the idea was that if NOTA got the most votes then the office would remain vacant until the next election (with some exceptions for offices that really do have to be occupied for more fundamental reasons). I was in favor of the suggestion.
