Why do people on CAF seem to think liberals are evil?

Really? Look around. There are plenty times I can recall people the democratic party to evil. Seriously this is your response. Not a civilized debate. I don’t think everyone does that. There are some crazies on here

Catholicism is neither Republican or Democrat.
Thank God.

We (Catholics) have a tougher road to follow.
We’re asked to find the truth between the rhetoric from both sides. Not easy, but Christ didn’t say it would be.
Very true. The Catholic Church pre dates all the political parties. Truths are truths. Life is life and should be protected regardless of one identifies as conservative or liberal.

Thing I love about the Catholic Faith, the Universal Church is it is made of different types of people and traditions.

Yes really, i have never seen anyone on CAF call a liberal evil. Maybe I missed it somewhere, I frequent this site quite often. I’ve seen them call things like abortion evil, but never a liberal poster on here.

With respect and love the way you presented your original post on this thread was CAF believe liberals are evil. Again I can’t speak for every CAF’er but the majority of us don’t believe liberals are evil as I stated way back towards the beginning of this thread. Others have said the same thing. We love you.

Just went and read the thread you linked. I did not see anyone on there refer to any liberals as being evil or of the devil. Looks to me as some Conservatives were complaining about left leaning articles just as Liberals complaining about Fox News and Breitbart. The only one who mentioned anything like, evil or in that thread of the devil, was the OP on this thread.

The percieved hypocrisy the OP is worried about does exist on the Internet. I see this phenomenon more from distant nonreligious or vaguely Christian ultra conservative relatives in my facebook feed than I do here. Do I call them out? Nope. Calling them out makes them hunker down and fight.

Creating a thread like this certainly could have gone worse than it did. Were you genuinely wondering why or were you hoping this thread would be a self-fulfilling prophesy? Your wording didn’t lend itself to genuine scientific curiosity nor to fraternal correction.

But do you CHERISH us in the same way Trump says he cherishes the Mexican people since he assumes some of them are not rapists but good people? I want nothing less than this.

When you question whether or not a site is sinful in part because of “leftist media”, then you start giving the impression that it is somehow evil.

I must say I have gotten a tremendous education regarding the Catholic viewpoint on abortion, realizing that not all Catholics abide by the Church’s doctrine on the issue. It is a viewpoint that was NEVER part of my upbringing. My family, including extended family, always believed when the issue of abortion came up (which was only on rare occasion) that of course it is the woman’s right to decide whether or not to carry her baby to term, apart from Jewish law on intricate matters concerning abortion. I had never even realized when younger that this could be such a contentious issue. Boy was I wrong!

Well, wait a minute. Doesn’t the Church recognize the validity of non-Christian marriages? Something like not sacramental but still considered valid? I think the OP was making a point that if non-Christian marriages are recognized by the State (and the Church) as legal, then why not gay marriages recognized by the State as legal? Neither type of marriage is a Christian one.

Yes I cherish you, you are my brothers and sisters. Lol:sunglasses: I am just more conservative and some on here are more liberal but that does not mean that I care about anyone less because of there political views, even if I think those views are wrong 😉

No, I don’t think all gun owners are guilty of murder. I think gun control could limit access to firearms to homicidal and suicidal citizens. A gun is still a lethal weapon. I don’t think strict gun laws is reappealing the second amendment constitutional right. As for the deportation, why not deport the entire family?

I’m thinking I’ll admit is unclear. I’m not upset at the passion abortion receives but on other threads such as police brutality, immigration, gun violence I expected more sympathy because this is happening to people who are actually living. Any post about gun violence turns into a gun control debate. It can seem as though people care more about keeping gun rights than the people involved in the violence. Apparently everyone all of a sudden shows the deepest concern for an embryo which is barely alive. That’s my point. I don’t understand CAF members sometimes.

There is no political party that is officially catholic. Republicans seem to think it is okay to separate families and put migrant kids in camps. They also think its okay for people who cheat on their spouses and marry many times to hold office. Democrats usually support abortion, gay marriage, and heavy drug users.

Both parties go against church teaching in someway or another. I do not vote based on one issue. I vote on who seems to have the best policies and who makes the most sense. I will never vote for an extremist liberal, extremist conservative, a communist, or socialist. I am a moderate centrist.

I don’t understand why abortion a private issue generates more sympathy on threads than issues like gun violence, police brutality, etc which are public issues. Or societal problems. That’s my anger.
I don’t necessarily agree with abortion completely. It’s how precious it’s treated as an issue even though it is more of a private matter.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being prolife.

That’s probably because abortion is more fundamentally wrong and the other issues are not as big.

Eh, wait a minute. There are many “fundamentally wrong” issues. And on what basis are you determining that they’re “not as big”?

Besides women, do you believe Blacks have also chosen NOT to be in certain professions including medicine, law, and academia?
Yes, some do choose not to. Many blacks come from more impoverished areas. That’s not the reason many choose not to become doctors or lawyers. I came from a poor family and still managed, not because I’m white but because I worked my butt off. This isn’t a race issue. Its a PARENTING issue. If you don’t teach your kids that college is important, that they can achieve more, that hard work pays off, then of course those kids won’t be aiming for fields such as those.
Do you believe women, Blacks, and Jews at the beginning of the 20th century and even up to mid-century all CHOSE not to attend Ivy League and other colleges, let alone graduate school, and also chose NOT to teach at the university level?
That was a completely different time. Those were actual issues. Second wave feminism, thankfully, solved a lot of those problems as well as people such as Martin Luther King Junior. But now what are we fighting for? As a woman, I can vote. I can go to college, I can be a rocket scientist, even the president. Never in my life have I ever felt limited. Not once.
And do you believe the fact my female cousin who worked diligently and long hours for many years in a famous company CHOSE to rise no higher than one of the vice-presidents, given that company has no record of EVER in its long history promoting a woman to president?
Men tend to more competitive and women tend to be more agreeable. That’s a fact. Psychiatrists recognize it as such. I don’t know your cousin, but if she’s trying to rise to a higher position and finds she can’t, she either must be up against other very competitive men, or she’s too agreeable.

Don’t you think that abortion is a source of more deaths than gun control and illegal immigration and whatever else? I don’t much about them to make a good judgment so maybe it is more serious than I perceive. I think fundamental means core, so I guess that being able to have a right to live is more important.

Liberal here. I do not “worship” homosexuality, but because people are born this way, just as they are born black or without a leg, I do not believe the church should characterize them as “disordered” or deny them any sacraments of the church the rest of us sinners are allowed to receive.
