Why do people on CAF seem to think liberals are evil?

You never defended us in the first place šŸ˜ by all means; stop inviting us along to your wars.

Good thing no one attacks Australia. Itā€™s almost like we have no strategic purpose to invade šŸ¤£

I think you are projecting.
Nobody here thinks Fox isnā€™t biased
Nobody here thinks the GOP is in perfect observance of Catholic issues

People often defend Trump because liberal posters are going ad hominem rather than discussing policy

Oh hey, I just found out that we had more civilian casualties in Darwin, but fewer losses of military vehicles. Man, with the big deal the US makes about Pearl Harbour I assumed it actually mattered. Thatā€™s pretty whiny tbh.

That is not what I see here. I see a wide range of opinions on here, particularly regarding politics. However this is a Catholic forum and as the teachings of the Church on life issues, sexuality etc are not socially liberal a Catholic forum will reflect that.

Aside from the fact that the democrat base supports all of the non-negotiables (SSM, abortion, euthanasia, etc.)- which means that theyā€™re opposed to Christian morality- the party leadership (and many, if not most, of the party members themselves) is openly hostile to the Faith. For example, some politicians have said that we, as Christians, need to ā€œget with the timesā€ (I think Hillary said this). What that means to them, is that we need to sacrifice what we believe in and instead believe what they want us to. Second, most democrats seem to support the idea that Christians should be forced to participate in events we find immoral- and theyā€™ll use the government to either make us or impoverish us. And then thereā€™s the fact that Christians are constantly demonized by the people who make up the party. They accuse us of ā€œintoleranceā€ on a daily basis, and they attach the term ā€œChristianā€ to a series of ā€œundesirableā€ attributes- ā€œright-wingā€, ā€œnut-jobā€, etc. I could go on.
Worth repeating.

If people are telling me I could be condemned for the way I vote, I think itā€™s natural that I question perhaps why. Wouldnā€™t you? Or describing a political party I align with as evil and Satanic.
Just because people are telling you something, that doesnā€™t mean itā€™s true. You have to have confidence that your actions are taken for the right reasons.

People (regardless of political affiliation) will have to answer for judgementally calling those who oppose them ā€œevilā€. It is the opposite of charity and the opposite of the love of Christ to make value judgements about the state of someoneā€™s heart. None of us can know what is in someone elseā€™s heart.

Everyone would do well to remind themselves that they should be condemning ideas and actions not people and hearts.

Please donā€™t encourage the further detailing of an actually fairly decent and productive thread.

Hopefully the moderators will come in and slice out that nasty little Australia tangent.

Not even bothering to read this mess. Scroll to bottom, mute, step away slowlyā€¦

First, I THINK most people here who voted for Trump over Hillary did not vote for Trump during the primaries.

I know I didnā€™t want Trump during the primaries. I felt he would do damage to the Republican Party. But I also didnā€™t want Hillary Clinton to be president for so many reasons. I felt she would be horrible for America.

The number one thing that bothers me is when people (not necessarily here) say that I must be a bigot for voting for Trump.

I also reject the idea of voting for third parties because in the US, itā€™s a wasted vote. So I choose the lesser of two evils, who I believed that to be Trump, and I still stand by my vote against Hillary.

God Bless

It was the fact weā€™re not a strategic place to invade  for real; what numpty invades Australia? Are you going to steal our desert?

Why does the government have to uphold Christian morality? I donā€™t see why the government is even involved in issues like euthanasia, abortion, SSM.
Iā€™ve always thought a secular government would be better suited for a multicultural society likes we are.
The government has realized from the beginning that we need to be a society thatā€™s bound by morals and religion. Thereā€™s the very famous letter from John Adams to the Massachusetts Militia that illustrates this mindset. It was written in 1798, during the 2nd year of his presidency and 12 years after the ratification of the Constitution.

Part of it goes:
But should the People of America, once become capable of that deep simulation towards one another and towards foreign nations, which assumes the Language of Justice and moderation while it is practicing Iniquity and Extravagance; and displays in the most captivating manner the charming Pictures of Candour frankness & sincerity while it is rioting in rapine and Insolence: this Country will be the most miserable Habitation in the World. Because We have no Government armed with Power capable of contending with human Passions unbridled by morality and Religion. Avarice, Ambition, Revenge or Galantry, would break the strongest Cords of our Constitution as a Whale goes through a Net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

I also reject the idea of voting for third parties because in the US, itā€™s a wasted vote. So I choose the lesser of two evils, who I believed that to be Trump, and I still stand by my vote against Hillary.
I respect your opinion. My husband felt and voted the same way. And yeah the primaries were rough. We only had three of the candidates that had not dropped out by the time they got to Texas. Iā€™m always so upset that some states get to be more important that way and get so pandered to on the campaign trail.

I voted for a third party candidate who didnā€™t have a snowballā€™s chance in hell. Solidarity party? šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø A little weird but they atleast had a consistent life ethic on the dignity of all human life. I couldnā€™t make myself vote Republican or Democrat this last time. Libertarians are a mixed bag on the abortion issue and that last Libertarian candidate disappointed me there.

The reason I donā€™t think itā€™s throwing your vote away is that the big two parties study us as voters and their platforms seem built on such shifting sands that if a third party gets votes they have to take a look at what made them appealing. Next go round we might see that influence woven in.

Nobody is going to give us a consistent life ethic if we donā€™t ask for it with our votes: for the unborn, the prisoner, the immigrant, the terminally ill, the refugee, the earthā€¦

A liberal is precisely someone who agrees with the freedom of the mind. No Christian is opposed to this; we accept that everyone can make their own decisions and they should have the freedom to. Thatā€™s why God gave us free will. (however, abortion, euthanasia, and gay marriage should not be allowed as this would include others in your individual decision making.) Many, however, are opposed to leftists or left wing politics. If you look up the definition, it will tell you that leftists support ā€œsocial equality and egalitarianism, often in opposition to social hierarchy.ā€ This is precisely what I believe to be evil. Very socialist, and we all know where socialism eventually leads to.
