Why do people on CAF seem to think liberals are evil?

If gay people aren’t religious, why can’t they have a secular wedding? It seems imposing that gays shouldn’t we’d because your religion says so even if that person isn’t religious at all

Why can’t Americans learn Spanish as well as English through school? A lot of countries are learning English as well as maintaining their native tongue.

They already can have their pretend “marriage.” Have you been living in a cave?

Why do liberals think conservatives are evil?

Just yesterday I read a comment posted (not here) by a person who wants all “right wingers” to leave the country because the USA would be a better place without them.

Why is abortion so important to Catholics? No other issue generates so much sympathy. I wish I saw this amount of concern for the living or social injustices
The sympathy exists. Just look at what kinds of works a parish or diocese is involved in: supporting mothers, immigrants, refugees, feeding the hungry.

I don’t know why people’s political posts don’t reflect that. Maybe because if we are posting here too much we might(not a blanket statement y’all are awesome) not be as good of stewards of our time. I should go help someone IRL. 😔

We are.

You still didn’t answer my question, though.

If, as you assert, these immigrants are learning English (which I think is not true), then why does the US need a second official language?

Do you believe that marriage is intended by God to be between one man and one woman, for life, and only that? That is what Catholics are required to believe.

Because the rest of the world does. Traveling internationally a lot of countries are desperate to learn English. Mandarin is becoming the language of business. I think the us is being left behind by not having two official languages. I’m not saying e glish should be replaced with Spanish. I think Puerto Rico had English and Spanish as their official languages though.

A Christian marriage is intended by God to be between a man and woman and for life. People who aren’t Christian don’t have to live up to that. With the divorce and remarriage by Christians, I think marriage is a joke.

You’re changing the topic.

We’re not talking about business, we’re talking about immigrants

Again with the moral relativism. All marriage, and the only marriage intended by God is one man + one woman, for life.
You are publicly, obstinately and persistently opposing Church dogma here.

When any influx of new group of people comes in, it is not common for there to be more than one official languages in the future. Lots of African countries speak both their native languages and the languages of their colonizers. So what’s wrong with us adapting to learn Spanish to accommodate the growing spanish speaking population?

I just don’t think all marriages are Christian ones. What about Hindu, Muslim, etc marriages are they less valid? I’m sure they have their own ideas of marriage that vary from the Christian marriage.

What’s evil about social equality and egalitarianism?
A desire for equality of outcome is evil. Equality of opportunity is what we should aim for.

Many leftists say they want equality of opportunity when in reality, what they really want is equality of outcome. In first world countries we are already fairly equal. Women are equal to men as far as being able to get the same jobs and same pay (gender wage gap is a myth). Those of other races are treated with fairness based on how they hold themselves, not on their skin color. However, leftists still make the same claim. They don’t want true equality. They want communism (though they may not outright say it).

They say they want women to be in work fields dominated by men and still don’t realize that maybe women CHOOSE not to be in those fields, not because they aren’t given the opportunity. The social hierarchy is a natural phenomenon. There will always be the rich and the poor. There will always be differences in gender. Those who are in positions of power, earned their way to the top through hard work and intelligence. If we all gave out participation awards, the world would be an awful place with no progression.

Is there something I do not understand? I understand the argument about abortion, etc. People on here seem to act like the conservative party is in perfect observance of Catholic issues or social teachings. Apparently, CNN is biased but FoxNews is not? Since when did issues like gun control, climate change, immigration become religious issues?

I don’t understand the deifying of Donald Trump here. Apparently, he can do no wrong to some people or to other people is a horrendous person.

Apparently, if a Catholic doesn’t vote Republican, align with the conservative party or is not a huge supporter of Donald Trump, I voted contrary to church teaching.
Why does the government have to uphold Christian morality? I don’t see why the government is even involved in issues like euthanasia, abortion, SSM.
I’ve always thought a secular government would be better suited for a multicultural society likes we are.
Try thinking how you would expect people to think about someone who said that he does not see why he should have to care about Christian morality in his personal life. Sure, things might be more nuanced than they seem to be, but a significant part of the people are likely not to look for nuances, but to think that this “someone” has proclaimed himself to be evil, especially, if that “someone” also proclaims himself to be a Christian.

Is there some reason to expect things to be completely different when one talks about caring about Christian morality in public matters and not in private matters?

Start a thread on something controversial, you’ll see how sympathy exists.

I just don’t think the rest of us should be subject to Christian morality on certain cases such as gay marriage. If o were gay, atheist and wanted to have courthouse wedding and I couldn’t because of Christianity I’d think the government was biased. I can understand Christian chirches not marrying gays.
What’s the alternative for gay who wish to marry as partners

This is where I disagree I don’t always think the playing field is equal treatment for women and minorities. Do they deserve handouts? We can argue on that. Has anyone actually lived in or visited a high crime rate low income area? Sure some people make it through hardworking. They have to work probably ten times harder. They have crummy textbooks, the way the classroom is run is way different than in a middle class neighborhood so is the curriculum

I wouldn’t do that unless I thought it would somehow bear good fruit, so mostly I wouldn’t do that and I’d be very careful in my wording if I did.

That being said, I see some posters who bring their hearts and their sympathy to every thread even controversial messy ones.
