Why do Protestants become Catholic?

By this, I would assume your husband is Catholic?

It is a shame you choose to judge the teachings of Christ and His Church by those who are not following those teachings from the sounds of it .

Sadly, you are not just rejecting your husband and his drunk relatives.

On the contrary, my misguided Catholic friend!

I’m not rejecting them (nor you) at all 😉

Do YOU judge all Protestants by the Fred Phelps, Benny Hinns, and all those other ridiculous off the wall goofy so-called Protestants teachers, preachers, movers and shakers of the world? 🙂

One thing I will say. Looking into the Catholic faith is a frightening thing…really. And it becomes more frightening when you enter into it thinking that the Protestant view rock solid. Then you find that it is not…that Peter was the rock. It can be a frightening experience. And, to the person that is looking for truth, it is even more frightening.

Imagine this for a moement. Imagine that you are a Catholic hater from way back, but you have a firm desire to serve God in all you do. Further, you have an amazing desire to seek truth. So, you look into it and you find truth in the last place you thought to look…the Catholic Church. You then have no choice but to convert. That is a frightening prospect for some, and it is made more so when all of your friend and family hate Catholics with all that they have. You not only have to turn your back on your church, but your friends and family. This is kinda scary.

.
This sums up my conversion experience so well! I am finally entering the Church this Easter Vigil after 3 years of attending mass, reading everything I can get my hands on, and dealing with hurt family and friends. Good Evangelical born-again girls like me aren’t supposed to turn into Catholics!! 😉

NiceFundamental & Julia1, or whomever you choose to be right now, you tend to ask questions that are similar to unsolicited opinions than genuine and sincere inquiries, but never seem to answer any questions directed straight at you. Did you not offer to answer our questions on Protestantism?

Tell me a teaching that the Protestant Church teaches that you disagree with…then let me tell you what it really teaches, citing the Bible as proof. You’ll find what YOU’VE been told about what the Protestants believe and why they believe are two entirely different things!! See how that works?
Your offer was subsequently accepted and a question posed.

Ok. One of the points that brought me to Rome was this…Once Saved Always Saved. It is the belief that you make a one time commitment to God and that all is well…forever…no matter what you do. This lead Luther to say that he could commit adultry 100 times a day and still enter heaven. I had a big problem when I found so much in the Bible that points toward that being just…welll…wrong. Your turn.
As I write this, we are now at Post # 301 and you still have not answered the question posed to you. Personally, I do not think anyone should respond to you unless you show a legitimate interest in understanding Catholicism OR you will answer the questions posed directly to you (without the sudden escape hatch of you “have to get back to work”).

So……still waiting for you to address and respond to Sadie2723 post.

Hey Everyone!

I just wanted to let everyone know how happy it makes me to see all of these Catholics come together to tell others what a wonderful church it is. It hurts me terribly to see so many protestants learn horrible lies about the Catholic Church. (worshipping saints, worshipping Mary, even worshipping statues!) It gives me so much hope to see so many of these protestants finally come to the truth and see the beauty in our Church. It’s really made my day!! 😃 😃 😃

GOD BLESS!!!
Jaclyn

I stand at the door knocking.

If you really want to upset a Protestent, tell them the whole movie was based on Stations of the Cross (very Catholic devotional)

My whole approach to Fridays now have changed since I started becoming Catholic. I feel a real suffering and dread on Fridays (and Tuesdays) when I do the Sorrowful Mysteries. I am an emotional person to begin with and I can’t stand to imagine my Lord suffering. Watching the “Passion” was the hardest thing I did since I buried my Dad.

Our Lord and God suffered so much for all of us,
to not show the highest regard and love for our Savior,
to not hurt when he hurts,
to not hate what he hates
and to not show mercy and love towards all
is the greatest pain we can give our God.

When Moses came before The Burning Bush,
God told him to take off sandals for He was on Holy ground,
Everytime we walk into church we should remember that we are too on Holy ground, actually in the presence of the physical body of Jesus.

The reason I am Catholic?
The higher reverence of God is a good starting point.

The reason I resisted becoming Catholic for so long probably is the same answer. It’s more difficult, more humbling, more demanding and not the easy way. But to surrender to God and truly worship Him is the hardest thing of all.

Julia…where are you?

Are you just going to set there and spit venom all day, or are you going to get back to a true debate of the issues. You asked, many pages ago, for someone to debate you on an issue. I brought up Once Saved Always Saved, and then you went on for three pages without debating it. Why is that? Well, you have not answered so allow me to wander down the road of speculation a bit.

The reason is that you can’t. The thing is, that old doctrine that is such a cornerstone of the Protestant faith can’t be defended. Why? Because the Bible does not support it. Oh, now you can pull a verse out of context (an old Protestant trick) and then make some assertions about it, but you can’t make it stand up in the context in which it was written. Protestants the world over know this, and it scares the heck out of them. Why? Because if you are wrong about the pillars of the Protestantism, then you have only two choices left…go to Rome or leave Christianity behind. And that, my dear, is a frightening thought for those who have been taught to hate Rome since they were not old enough to see over the pew.

So we all stand ready. If you have an arguement to make…don’t sing it sister…just bring it.

Like she said, she’s not interested in debate…it’s just amusing to her and doesn’t really want to have a more deeper understanding.

Unless she proves me wrong…but I haven’t seen any indication of that yet.

As a convert in 1968 at the ripe old age of 18 I knew it was the truth. My best friend in high school was Catholic and I came from an anti Catholic family. The minute I stepped into St. Stephens church with her that wonderful Sunday in June of 67 I knew the Lord was there in a way that He wasn’t in any other church and I had attended them all except for Mormon or JW. At the time I didn’t know it, but it was His Presence in the Blessed Sacrament. I remember kneeling down and I said “This is truly your home Lord and now it’s mine.” I fell in love with the faith, especially the Blessed Mother and that was it for me. My mom who was against my taking what they then called “Inquiry Class” went with me to be sure I wouldn’t learn some of those “damnable Romanish doctrines”. Mother converted the year after I did. I have never regretted it and am amazed that I keep learning and loving and trusting the Church more and more. Protestants become Catholic for one reason - ITS THE TRUTH!

Hi guys…its nothing sinister in why I am here…and I truly do have work to do. I post in between work, and when I get home I have my family to take care of so my time is limited in how I spend it.

I am not a full-time apologetist like the majority of you appear to be, he he…

And for those of you who are really really itching to know just exactly what I am, I am a plain old Christian, period. I am an ex-Protestant. Feel better now? Want to start attacking that?

As for debating you bunch…That’s the funniest thing I have heard yet on this site!

I would rather debate a bunch of snakes.

." I fell in love with the faith, especially the Blessed Mother

I fell in love with Jesus. Truly. 🙂

One of the reasons I left the Protestant church, dear one. And join the Real One.

Amen.

Which non-Protestant, non-Catholic body would that be?

Oooo I feel so…snakelike. Kind of like Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter series.

Well, if you have anything that you would like to discuss…as a plain old Christian, we would be happy to assist you!

But, I will remind you that it was you that brought up the topic of debate and asked us to supply a difference. I have done so. Naturally, if you would like to engage in that debate with my snakelike self, I am happy to assist you in any way that I can.

Or, if you would like to fully embrace the Mother Church, I can help you there too.

Don’t worry Brad. I don’t think she was saying you are a snake. She would just *rather *debates a bunch of snakes than any of us here.

I assume it would be easier. They don’t know Christianity’s Hisssstory.

Perhaps in a different thread you could inform us of your beliefs, and what makes a church the Real One.

So I gather that you are not happy with Protestant churches either? If you start a thread on this it would be very interesting.
