Why is it better to be Catholic?

I guess you would be totally against Christian missionary efforts in places like Indonesia. I understand your desire to respect the religious beliefs of others, but the church has a mandate from Jesus Himself. We ought to be willing to present the good news (the gospel) to people wherever we can reach them…even at the risk of being perceived as offensive or disrespectful of their religion. There is nothing in this world that is more urgent than presenting the truth to those who desperately need it. As you know, many of the apostles were killed for spreading good news to people who were deeply offended by the truth.
No, you’re twisting my words here to attempt to benefit yourself. Nice try, but you’ll fail.

The Church has a mandate to evangelize. Not persecute or belittle. No religion who wants people to listen will say “EVERYTHING ELSE IS GARBAGE AND YOUR GOD IS FALSE”. It’s why people make fun of televangelism, because that’s what they do. That’s not how apologetics and evangelization work.

You also ignored what I said in that post. I said being non-PC doesn’t mean I think someone has the right to be blatantly disrespectful. So don’t tell me about calls from Jesus to the Church and tell me that because I believe disrespect is out of order I’d be against missionary work. And keep in mind I’ve lived in a nation where I WAS told my religion was false and my God was false and my beliefs are all wrong.

You can’t have it both ways, Pup7. You ought to consider what Jesus would do, and then do that. Jesus told his disciples that, “The world hates me, and they will hate you, because of me.” That is the difference right there. If you’re a disciple of Jesus, your life won’t be all peace and happiness…there is a personal cost involved in being a disciple. Many people don’t believe that, “to whomever much is given, much is required.”

Not having it both ways. You’re still trying to twist my words.

That’s not how evangelism works. You make it sound as though I don’t, or that I don’t do my part. I had an amazing random opportunity to do my part just last weekend in, of all places, the religious book section of a local thrift store in helping someone who said they were atheist but exploring Christianity.

“Oh, that’s wonderful!” I told her. And then I pulled a Catholic Bible off the shelf and took a minute or two to talk with her. And not once did I say “ALL THE REST OF THESE ARE GARBAGE AND ALL THE OTHER THINGS THEY CLAIM ARE FALSE”. And she was very interested in what I had to say, even as I told her I’m not the greatest apologist in the world. She didn’t know you could convert to Catholicism. She didn’t know we’re actually Christians. And even when I thought the convo was done, she asked me a couple more questions. And I told her she should go to a Mass and see - she didn’t know you could just go.

Maybe I converted someone. Maybe I didn’t. But I did the best I could do, which is what is expected of me. I’d love to know she’s Catholic. But I’d be equally happy to just know she’s found Jesus, because there’s so much more there for her than there is in atheism. And if she’s not Catholic but a member of another denomination maybe when the anti-Catholicism comes up she’ll say “but this very nice Catholic lady tried to help me, and it was so random” - and THAT is also evangelization, nogames.

So stop the twisting and the bending. You’ll get nowhere with that. And not a single soul out there will listen.

Furthermore, you’ve said this:

By telling everyone Catholicism is “man-centered” (whatever that means) and false, and for lovers of grandeur and whatever else it was that has been said by you, you yourself are perpetuating the hate. You, not me, are causing hatred of Catholics. You are perpetuating hate against fellow Christians.

Somehow I myself doubt Jesus would teach that.

Hi! I’m not sure if this was already posted in this thread, but here is a video from Lizzie’s Answers. She was a Protestant all her life and tried so hard to stay away from Catholicism, but ultimately realized that it is the true Church. I invite you to watch it, because, I think that she brings up some excellent points in this and other videos now that she is a Catholic.

God bless!

I’m waiting with popcorn for Jack Chick style claims 🍿 Do you want salt and butter? 😀

Oh thank you for letting me know! The thread is so long that I don’t have time to go through it all!😂

I also posted this in another thread, and I think that this is an indicator that the Catholic Church is the true Church.

As a Chaldean (Catholics from Iraq), I speak a form Neo-Aramaic. I have always found it very interesting that most of the groups that speak a form of Aramaic today are Catholic, since Aramaic was the vernacular in Jesus’ time. St. Thomas the Apostle converted the Chaldeans, and as an Apostle he did actually know Jesus. Sometimes I think that this information alongside with the information provided in the forum can help someone to see that the Catholic Church is the true and earliest Church. God bless!

Oh I meant with the lady I talked to. 🙂 She gets shared a lot and there’s no harm in posting her here again. She’s a really good source.

Oh got it! She really is a good source! She searched for the truth for so long and ultimately found it!

She’s non threatening and very relatable, I think. Very handy that she’s been so open with her story.

Welcome to the forum @ChaldeanCatholic. I am very interested in hearing your perspective. My community of local Christian churches is anxiously awaiting visa approval for a family from Iraq that we are sponsoring.

They are Catholic and their language is Arabic. It will be a learning experience for all of us.

First, thank you for the welcome, and thank you for sponsoring a family from Iraq! Hopefully the visa will be approved soon! Most of the Chaldeans speak not only Chaldean, but also Arabic because that’s what they speak in public since it’s the dominant language in Iraq. My parents were both born and raised in Baghdad, but they are originally from a 100% Catholic village in the Nineveh Plains (where only Neo-Aramaic is spoken.) Because they were in Baghdad, they spoke Arabic all the time at school, but at home they spoke Neo-Aramaic (which we generally call Chaldean). My grandparents were raised in the village, so they made sure that all of their kids could speak the language because it is the language that Christ spoke. Even here in America, a lot of Chaldeans speak English more because it’s the language of the country. They understand the Chaldean language, but they don’t use it as much. So while our language is Neo-Aramaic, many Chaldeans in Iraq use Arabic more, and over here most use English more. So the family that you are sponsoring might actually speak/ understand Chaldean!

Many blessings!

This probablyyy isn’t too helpful, but what I like about Catholicism is that it maintains a more sacred and traditional approach to everything. We (Catholics) have sacraments, mass, holy services, and special prayers like the rosary. There are many things I love about it. For me, faiths of the Protestant division can feel watered down and modernized and I just don’t like it as much. I’m not an apologist (obviously lol) but I am being raised Catholic and have seen many proofs and leads with tangible evidence to Catholicism being the one true faith. I don’t have time to go on and on about them all, but Fatima is definitely one of the biggest proofs I have come across. I recommend looking into it.

I have a Mass to go to. Post deleted because I really can’t at the moment.

I’m not the problem, nogames.

No, it got you flagged because you said specifically that the Catholic Church is a false church. You know you said it, you know it was removed, and you know why. You weren’t pointing out unbiblical doctrines - you flat out said the Church is false.

You can point out things in the CCC and in dogma and in encyclicals and wherever you want to point out things taught that you don’t agree with - but you don’t get to just come right out and say the Church itself is false.

I’m not part of the problem as I don’t go around blasting entire belief systems as a false religion. I can’t have a conversation with you because I found that to be pretty much the most offensive thing I’ve ever seen in type on this website. I don’t perpetuate hate against fellow Christians or anyone else for that matter.

You didn’t label an error as hate, you labeled the entire Church as false.
I’d like to know then, what specific kind of error would it take for a Christian church to truly be a false church? Can you provide an example or two?

If you don’t know the difference in worship and “churches” like The People’s Temple, I can’t help you. You know very well what the difference is. Disagreeing with an established religion because you think it’s wrong doesn’t make the Church false. I don’t agree with half the things Baptists believe, but I don’t call the Baptists followers of a false religion even if I don’t believe they’re correct. They’re Christians. Not my place to judge.

You’re attempting a trap. I’m not biting. No, I don’t trust you, and I can apologize for that.

Wanted to add if you’re going to go around and say the Church is false, don’t do it here. That’s nothing short of rude and horridly disrespectful.

Legitmately, I’m going to go get ready to go to Mass. If you don’t wipe your feet on the religion I love anymore, I’ll chill out (I legitimately apologize, but really - that comment has burned on me for a little while and you’re right if you think I need to get over it; I’ll own that, and you are completely correct) and we’ll chat later.

I actually do respect your views - I was just shocked by what I’d read. So for any overreaction on my part, I will assuredly apologize. You are allowed to disagree 100%, and that wasn’t what caused the frustration.
