It sounds to me like you have had an awakening of your Baptismal and Confirmational graces. It sounds like God is calling you into a more deeper relationship with him and is calling you home to His Church, the Catholic Church. His arms are open wide.I’m not TEACHING anything. I am using Scripture to make a point. If you don’t rely on Scripture alone, that’s fine with me. I won’t call you a Sola Scriptura hater. I am on this site because the original question, “Why is the Catholic Church hated so much?”, piqued my interest. Especially since I was born and raised in the Catholic church. I now study Catholicism, I visit Catholic sites frequently, I watch EWTN, I read books written by Catholics, I read the newspapers with stories about Catholic priests/bishops/cardinals, I read about Pope Benedict wanting a one-world financial and political government, I have read the “New St. Joseph Baltimore Catechism”, I read the Catholic tenets and I look back on my life as a Catholic (gradaes 1 - 12 AND 2 years of nursing school…I am a man, not a woman) and I see things that I don’t agree with.
On October 18, 2009 I was struck down in my living room and acknowledged Jesus Christ as my Lord & Savior. Since that time I have read the Bible EVERY day (I can’t put it down!!) and I’ve learned of God’s unmerrited grace, the cleansing power of my sin because of Jesus’ blood, and I know that by faith I am saved through grace!! I truly don’t hate anyone, but I do want to share Christ in the way He commands in Matthew 28:16-20.
It is good to read the Bible everyday but don’t land on your own interpretation. The Bible even warns against that in Proverbs 3:5. Pray and ask God to lead you. Here is a prayer, I prayed when I was trying to follow scripture alone. And because doing that made me feel, and I am sure you feel and many others feel, confused. St. Francis prayed this prayer before a crucifix in San Damiano. It is a beautiful and inspiring story, you should read it.
Most High, glorious God,
enlighten the darkness of my heart
and give me true faith,
certain hope and perfect charity,
sense and knowledge, Lord,
that I may carry out
Your holy and true command.
Truly ask God to enlighten your understanding.
