No. We are always forbidden to eat pork. We cannot eat any animal that does not both chew its cud and have a cloven hoof

. A pig does not chew its cud. why?

PS: Muslims do eat camel unlike the description of the Mosaic Law.
But when we say an animal is “unclean” we generally mean it cannot be used for ritual sacrifice. Similarly, a person could become “unclean” under certain conditions, such as being in contact with a dead body. It would not matter how much they washed afterward, they would still be “unclean” and would have to go through a seperate ritual that was carried out in the Temple.

OK, here is my favorite pork-related diatribe EVER! (From the movie Pulp Fiction)
By the way, I’m with Vincent, Bacon tastes GOOOOOOOOOD!

Vincent: Want some bacon?
Jules: No man, I don’t eat pork.
Vincent: Are you Jewish?
Jules: Nah, I ain’t Jewish, I just don’t dig on swine, that’s all.
Vincent: Why not?
Jules: Pigs are filthy animals. I don’t eat filthy animals.
Vincent: Bacon tastes gooood. Pork chops taste gooood.
Jules: Hey, sewer rat may taste like pumpkin pie, but I’d never know ‘cause I wouldn’t eat the filthy #@$%. Pigs sleep and root in sh*t. That’s a filthy animal. I ain’t eat nothin’ that ain’t got enough sense enough to disregard its own faeces.
Vincent: How about a dog? Dogs eats its own feces.
Jules: I don’t eat dog either.
Vincent: Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal?
Jules: I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.
Vincent: Ah, so by that rationale, if a pig had a better personality, he would cease to be a filthy animal. Is that true?
Jules: Well we’d have to be talkin’ about one charmin’ … pig. I mean he’d have to be ten times more charmin’ than that Arnold on Green Acres, you know what I’m sayin’?

Huh it is true that Christian cannot eat pork, not that i heard of??

This might be silly to ask, but I’d like to know if Muslims and Jews like turkey bacon and other turkey products that are made to look like pork products. I’d think some would like having the alternative out there on the market.

inJESUS;1494886:
Says so in the Torah, for starters. The eating of flesh is the taking of Life. So, while we are permitted to do it, there are many restrictions, because all life is sacred.

To put it another way, it is a means by which we are reminded that while we have power over the world, our use of it is and should be limited.
thank you…but why are these animals specifically? any specific reason?

Ok, can u tell me why you and christians do eat pork despite its
prohibited in the Bible:

“And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be cloven footed, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you”.

“Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcass shall ye not touch, they are unclean to you.”[Leviticus 11:7-8]

Pork is also prohibited in the Bible in the book of Deuteronomy

“And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass.”
[Deuteronomy 14:8]

A similar prohibition is repeated in the Bible in the book of Isaiah chapter 65 verse 2-5.

Peace.
Jesus Christ who is God said…

And He called the people to Him again, and said to them, “hear me, all of you, and understand: there is nothing outside a man which by going into him can defile him; but the things which come out of a man are what defile him.” And when he had entered the house, and left the people, his disciples asked him about the parable. And he said to them, "Then are you also without understanding? Do you not see that what ever goes into a man from outside cannot defile him, since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and so passes on? (Thus he declared all foods clean). And he said," What comes out of a man is what defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, fornication, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, licentiousness, envy, slander , pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a man."
Mark 7: 14-22
.
PS…All the screaming, yelling, threatening, name calling etc. that we see going on in the past several days regarding Pope Benedict…this defiles men, women and even children who are exposed to it and taught to do it…the expression of senseless rage!
.
Shalom

“Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah.” [Al-Qur’an 5:3]
Just curious and somebody please explain from the above verse. Why is only “the flesh of swine” taken on this to be the reason pork is not eaten. It also says “dead meat”. I don’t know of anybody who has ever eaten “live meat”. (Oh,… maybe live oysters but I dont know if that is considered meat)Besides if you eat beef, or chicken, or fish, those in themselves are considered meat and they are dead before they are eaten. Also, please explain what food is to be considered by “….and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah.”

I think ‘dead meat’ probably means animals that have died of natural causes rather than those which have been specifically slaughtered for food.

one thing is sure though…whereas camel meat is forbidden in Jewish tradition, it is allowed by Muhammad.

There is nothing wrong with it in Judaism, per se. But many jews feel it is wrong to eat fake trafe. If for no other reason, another jew may see you eating what looks like bacon and decide it is ok to eat bacon.

“Dead meat” means meat from an animal that has died without being slaughtered.

This reminds me of an exchange I had with a Mormon Elder once. He told me they can’t drink alcohol. I asked if non-alcoholic beer was acceptable. He told me his church doesn’t have a policy about non-alcoholic beer - but that he wouldn’t drink it since it has the appearence of something that is forbidden.
