Why so many gay couples in tv shows?

For those promoting censorship the door swings both ways. The Bible is usually on the American Library Association top 10 banned or challenged book list. For promoting Christianity over other Religions.
I wouldn’t say that. I’d say one group is going to be on top and everyone else on the bottom. Numbers don’t matter. For a long time in the US Christians ruled. Now anti Christians rule. There is no live and let live. So Christians have to take back control and impose their values on everyone.

It harmed women by promoting contraception and abortion. It harmed men by labeling all men as “male chauvenist pigs.” I was there.

I agree. But so-called freedom of everything types fought it. When a group of pastors in Detroit tried to impose certain limits on strippers in strip clubs, one owner said, “We’ve got millions of dollars to fight this.” The pastors lost.

Maybe if men had given women more rights and had allowed more of them to have leadership positions and had been paying them equitably, they wouldn’t have felt the need to start a Women’s Liberation Movement.

That’s a false stat. Just looks at total pay for men, total pay for women and compares them. Doesn’t break it down by career (e.g. men choose more dangerous jobs that pay more, on average), doesn’t break it down by hours worked (e.g. men choose to work more on average), etc.

I cannot speak for women in the Western world. I grew up in Asia.

Women were outright considered inferior there and still are considered inferior. When you say women had all the rights as men had please don’t limit yourself to the Western world. There are women who live in the non-Western world too and guess what, they do not have the same rights as men.

his post was in response to a post referencing the Women’s Liberation Movement that occurred in the 1970s Western World, I believe that is the context of what he was replying to

Please identify the rights women lacked in the 1970s.
Here’s an example, from Wikipedia:
Sharron Frontiero, a lieutenant in the United States Air Force, applied for housing and medical benefits for her husband, Joseph, whom she claimed as a “dependent.” While servicemen could claim their wives as dependents and get benefits for them automatically, servicewomen had to prove that their husbands were dependent on them for more than half their support. Joseph did not qualify under this rule, and therefore could not get benefits. Sharron sued, and the case was appealed up to the Supreme Court.
Frontiero’s case, Frontiero v. Richardson, was argued in 1973 before the U.S. Supreme Court by Ruth Bader Ginsburg which found the military’s benefit policy unconstitutional. This was one of Ginsburg’s first big wins before the Supreme Court.

Gay people exist in society, if you’re upset by its appearance in a fictional show how will you respond when your kid has a friend with gay family? I think best to just treat it as you would a portrayal of a Muslim, Hindu, or Buddhist in media. “Dont be a jerk, but those ways are not our ways”.

The focus on homosexuality is interesting. Isn’t rejecting Christ a far greater sin? And yet I dont see Christians as upset when media portrays Jews and other non-Christians as normal people.

Guess they can’t please everyone. I’d stay and engage in more fruitless dialog, but I’ve got to go exercise.

Enjoy your day!

False comparison. Gay characters appear in fictional TV shows to promote an agenda which is clearly spelled out by GLAAD, an LGBT advocacy group. It’s not a matter of being upset about gay people but about same-sex couples being portrayed on TV shows aimed at young people. It causes unnecessary confusion. Marriage is not just any union of two people. After the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage by fiat, a man sued so he could marry two women.

Well today you have the reverse - women receiving preferred hiring (e.g. diversity quotas, etc.) for jobs over men in private and public jobs. Yet its not struck down by Supreme Court. Either gender discrimination is good or bad. We can’t insist on gender equality one minute and then defend gender discrimination the next.

I think we are getting sidetracked here from what this thread is about. Let’s keep this relevant to the thread, or start a new thread for this discussion but it’s not relevant here

Jewish characters also appear in fictional TV shows. If I was constantly railing on about “The Jew Agenda” and talking about how the Anti-Defamation League controls everything, I would rightly be called an antisemitic nutjob. You need to accept that, like it or not, we live in a diverse country where not everyone believes as you do. That doesn’t mean you cant have an opinion but not everything is a conspiracy to corrupt the youth.
