What you want to teach your kids is none of my business. Unless it affects me. Here comes the golden rule. I don’t want your kids harming mine. So I won’t harm yours. Not really a surprising comment that. But it seems I needed to explain it to you.

I’d stick to the biological aspects of evolution if I were you. The psychology of morality is a bridge too far for you.

Really? That is your argument. My evolved brain does not give a hoot over your golden rule much less what you will or won’t do to my kids. Plus I may act first. Does evolution conclude revenge is OK?
 
Catholic teachings on morality evolve all the time. Open a history book and you’ll see numerous examples of this. Until last year, the death penalty was not against catholic teaching. The entire Vatican II is an example of the Church’s evolving morality.

If you think that it’s the right thing to do, your morality having evolved (presumably not in a natural selection type of evolution but more in line with your personal evolving sense of morality) then it’s again, your call. No-one can tell you what to think.

Just be prepared for the consequences.
 
The only thing that evolution conclusively concludes is that genetic traits are passed down from generation to generation and that mutations which occur can also be passed on. That’s it at the moment. Evolution does say anything about the origin of life or morality whatsoever. Theoretical frameworks, such as, but certainly not limited to evolutionary psychology, are efforts to expand the base theory of evolution into other areas.

Indeed it does. Which gives some people pause for thought. A handy evolutionary trait. You can ignore it of course. These rules aren’t compulsory. And we do need some people to ignore it so we can wreak revenge and emphasise the sense in not harming people in the first instance.

Works very well. So if a member of your family harms one of mine, I massacre your family and eveyone thinks twice about harming another. Retribution is a gloriously enjoyable aspect of justice. Be wary of it.

That’s cool. Can’t do anything about that. There are some psychcopaths that are just the same. But you don’t escape the consequences. Well, hopefully you don’t. And retribution keeps others in line.

It’s a great system.
 
Birth control. The prevailing Catholic attitude towards birth control shifted heavily towards it being okay during Vatican II.
 
Actually the Bible says “thou shall not kill”. God literally says that killing other people isn’t okay. Really cut and dry.
