Will "Altar Girls" lead to Women Priests?

Lux Ad Orientum, to put your statements in context, would you mind answering a few questions? You are a new poster and haven’t shared much about yourself.

Are you married? Do you have daughters? Would you mind sharing your age?

My wife would love to be able to raise the kids and have me work all day. Ironic that I am out of work and raising our kids while she works and pays the bills. I want more kids but she always says it will not work because she would need time off to have the baby.

I too would rather have my wife stay at home and raise the kids rather than have someone else raise your kids. My mom stayed at home and found ways to make money from home while raising me and my siblings. Unfortunately today society dictates what we can or cannot do. In my former parish a priest had a homily once condemning the practices of society today, calling it anti-family. It was the height of the Vancouver Real Estate Boom just 2-3 years ago. He says real estate prices are so high for a lot of money you can only afford to buy a small condo. How can you have a family with such limited space? Then it costs a lot to pay for that small condo that both husband and wife has not only to work, but work ridiculous hours just to pay for it. The high cost of living today discourages people from having lots of kids, or even having kids at all. It is crazy.

Also, I don’t know why feminists think raising kids is deragatory. I am raised by my mom and I am very thankful for it. Why would you want to go to work to make money and then use that money to pay for someone else to raise your kids? Its crazy! But its the reality of our lives today. Sad.

I am trying to be a good Christian myself.

I also attend a NO Mass weekly and on occassion I attend the TLM at our church as well.

I would like to think all of us are doing our best to worship GOD and be like Christ.

We must learn to live as a community outside our parish. We are the Catholic Church, the Universal Church, the ONE Holy Apostolic and Catholic Church. Yet, we can see in forums like this how divided we have become. Even worse… how many have become lukewarm.

So I apologize for any offense and pray we all can find something to unite under.

It is insane. Many women today want to raise their kids too. But like you said, many find it difficult to support a family on one income and feel they need a second to get by.

I pray it gets better.

That’s what you’d really like, isn’t it? Seperate parishes for (Traditional) Catholics and Modernist Catholics? Would seperate drinking fountains and bathrooms be enough to satisfy your craving, or does it have to go “all the way” before you can forget about us?

Please DONT integrate our schools though! Leave Traditional Catohlic education alone! 😃

I am a widower and old enough to remember a bit of the world as it USED to be. A world where Catholics were real Men, when our churches werent open to co-worship with Moslems, Protestants, and the Jewry, where we were PROUD to keep to the traditional ways that were passed down directly from Jesus Christ and Saint Paul.

I know. We don’t want to do it but we do not have a choice. I’m glad Canada’s social benefits give a 9-month parental leave on top of a 3-month maternity leave, which means my wife stays at home 'til our son is almost 1. We could have shared the parental leave but we literally cannot afford to. At least I’m not leaving a 5-month old infant to strangers.

I would like to respectfully point out that my daughter attended Catholic elementary school, a Catholic Jesuit university and is attending a well known Jesuit Catholic law school, so I guess I didn’t do too much harm to your “traditional” Catholic institutions by sending my daughter. (She obviously must be a heretic to have a mother like me). Just a point of edification for you to gnaw on.

I feel the same about women priests & I, too, am a female. I agree that we need manly men with authority & power. However, your description of “darling” “precious” & “beautiful” priests doesn’t help to bring about the type of men we need to answer the call of Christ to the priesthood.

Well, thank you. I am sorry for the loss of your wife.

I have to say, I love women! They are great. My sainted wife is holier than most men I know. She spent three years taking care of our oldest (who was born with a devastating birth defect) before he died. She put everything she had into ensuring that we cared for him in the proper Catholic way.

I am the head of my family. My wife, son, and daughters look to me to lead them. But, I would never, ever, demean the women by rubbing their noses into any substandard role in the Church.

You can express the ideas you have and still respect the inherent dignity of women by stating fact and holding your tongue on the more pejorative characterizations.

Immigrant families in the 1800’s had it much worse, ten people to one room, no indoor water, no electricity, its true it is hard today compared to fifty years ago but it also hard because we have became soft.
 
Isn’t solicitation of that information explicity forbidden and against forum rules???

EXACTLY. Women do NOT approach God. Mary was at the foot of the True Cross, but she did not speak and did not interfere! Female “religious” are great as a way to atone for the transgression of Eve, but we MUST not confuse that role with the proper function of Men in the woship of God at Mass. 1962 years of Traditional Catholics passed that truth down to us only the influence of the Evil One could make us turn our backs on ageless Sacred Tradition. Well, should we lowly women even be able to receive the Body of Christ? Apparently you’ve determined that no one but a male should be able to approach God and in receiving Holy Communion, we most certainly approach God. So even if we are in a state of Grace, we shouldn’t be receiving the Body of Christ, should we? Makes me wonder if you even believe women are capable of being in a state of grace? Or if we even have souls…
