Will America become socialist now that Biden has basically won?

You won’t wake up the day after Biden is sworn in (assuming that happens, but who knows) and find America is now a socialist country. These things happen by degrees. But yes, over time, the current Democratic party will definitely push as far towards socialism as they can. Biden won’t be president long, bear that in mind - the man is mentally very unwell, so Kamala Harris will be the next president, in reality.

She has no power whatsoever to do so on the federal level as it would never get through the legislature, and she has no control over what states institute.

As to abolishing abortion, I know of no one who rationally considers that a possibility. Abortion can be limited, with a slight possibility that some states may make it criminal conduct. But abortion will be abolished about the same time that murder and adultery are abolished - which will be at the Second Coming, and not before.

OMG.

The sky is falling, the sky is falling.

This is still a representative republic where the voters through their legislators determine the direction that the country will move, what laws will be enacted, and a whole range of things.

Based on the election we are still pretty much evenly divided down the middle.

The problem of late is that there has been so much divisiveness that the extremes on both sides have been speaking the loudest and any time the folks in the middle attempt to get something done, the extremes act like it is a bad thing.

We elect folks to get stuff done. So if you want progress stop with the divisiveness and encourage the reasonable minded folks in the middle to work together and get some stuff done.

Grow up America.

That, however, is not the work of the government, but rather publicly held high tech companies.

By private companies abridging no one’s right of freedom of speech.

We honestly have enough political threads on here already. To answer the OP’s question, though: no, the US is highly unlikely to become socialist under Joe Biden. He is many things, but Biden is not a socialist.

By private companies with the right to decide what goes on their platform.

Start? they already are.

Closing churches because of covid?

Censoring free speech via big tech…

In other words government regulating and punishing private companies for running their businesses.

By private companies with the right to decide what goes on their platform.
Yes, forums such as Twitter and Facebook have the right to censor or cancel those who publish to their platforms, which they already do and will continue to do. And Google has the ability and technology to decide what information we can see or not see.

Biden has already made threatening gestures towards religious base organizations, calling them safe havens for hate or some such accusation.

Don’t pretend you don’t know this.

It’s an attempted takeover of tech companies. It’s the right complaining that they can’t say what they want on the platforms of private companies. As I said, we disagree.

Nope. I’ve read stuff on it before. We disagree, as I said.

I think if we’re going to be promoting capitalism we should darn well enforce it even in cases where some are hurt because they can’t post crap on Twitter and Facebook.
