I left the Catholic Church for Pentacost. I am now a nonDenom. You will find that The Body of Christ extends outside the boundries of the Catholic Church. When I read the New Testament and Paul talks about the gifts of the Spirit, walking in the Spirit, praying in the Spirit the words become alive because it is so real to you. Trust God and throw yourself upon Him and He will not lead you astray.
Do not look for acceptance amoung Catholics because to them you have become somewhat of a traitor,** encourage them to be more “on fire” for their faith**.
Well if you had been more “on fire for your faith” when you were Catholic then you would not have left Christ’s true Church. But it seems no one encouraged you to be on “fire for your faith” then either.

Because the truth is. “being on fire” as it is bandied about by some pentecostals and evangelicals is not so much what characterizes a true Christians. It is the faithful living of the Christian life and a patient bearing of the cross. Too much is put on feelings which change with the way the wind blows. Fidelity, that is the key.

I would be a Catholic still had not the leading of God taken me elsewhere.

Are you sure it was God’s leading? Why would God lead you away from His own Church?

I do believe though that even if He did not cause this to happen, He does allow these things to happen for a reason.

I think of Scott Hahn and other converts and reverts and how now they are most effective apologists for the Church. Because they’ve been there, they’ve studied and now have found the pearl of grate price.

Some day God will lead you back Home. 🙂

I am home, a home of His makeing.

Tyrel,
Actually the Bible tells us disiples were first called christians at Antioch.
Acts 11:26. This was the beginnig of the church, The Christian church. The word Catholic isn’t used.
but , if your church teaches you this, then ask them why. I would.

God bless,
Please pray for this person His heart is full of hate and know nothing of the CC and at his age its coming fron his perent,he can not get that ignort in that short of time, his post is full of errors and not much truth, they are all lies

Hisalone Did not like getting knock down and getting kick around like chicken with its head cut off, like Benny Hinn does with the pentecostal

don’t u/stand this but the Catholic Church is the only place where the tangible Presence of Christ is… the only place on Earth…

the saints say so also…

Well when you come from a Pentecostal church you get to have people hit you in the head and you can fall on the floord and jump around like a chicken with its head cut off and get hit with the HS and then get sobler and go to a ND church, they claim down after a time

I very much want to quit the catholic church and become an
Assembly of God member. Am i doomed for hell?
Hard to say; I’m afraid your going to have to wait until the resurrection in order to find whether or not your going to get a pass to Hades or not.

God doesn’t lead people away from the truth.
Sometimes, he allows people to take their journey - however astray they wander - to make them more appreciative of coming home.

Many have the assurance of salvation, given a guarentee, sealed for that day.

Elvis I have told you before—you have bad theology.

Actually Elvis is correct. God does not lead people astray but rather allows them to be led astray whch means that this going astray is that person’s choice. Now there will be various reasons why a person makes that choice but ultimately it is that person’s choice.

But God allows that because He is capable of bringing a greater good out of evil.

Sometimes, people have to leave the Church, check out what else is out there before they can truly appreciate her beauty and her majesty.

And this is a recurring theme in the conversions, reversion stories I have read.

Here is an exerpt from Peter Kreeft’s conversion story.

" But if Catholic dogma contradicted Scripture or itself at any point, I could not believe it. I explored all the cases of claimed contradiction and found each to he a Protestant misunderstanding. No matter how morally bad the Church had gotten in the Renaissance, it never taught heresy. I was impressed with its very hypocrisy: even when it didn’t raise its practice to its preaching, it never lowered its preaching to its practice. Hypocrisy, someone said, is the tribute vice pays to virtue. "

How do they know they have the assurance? Are they sure that once they believed they will not longer sin? And if they are not sure that they will no longer sin so therefore can still sin, isn’t the wages of sin death?

What if a believer dies unrepenting of his/her sins?

I have given this scenario before: a believer who is overtaken by lust, commits rape and was shot while in the act of rape. What happens to him?

Actually what Elvis said literally is true, however I knew what the thought was behind what he said.
God doesnt lead people away from truth He leads the to it.
Each of us has our own journey, very very few never stray or wander.
Heaven is our home earth is just a stopover.

Jesus has saved, is saving and will save.
What did Jesus mean when he said we have been sealed? We have been given a guarentee?

This is how it works.
We become convicted that we are sinners and cannot save ourselves.
We come to believe that Jesus can and will save us if we ask.
We repent of our sin and ask Jesus to save us and to be Lord of our life.
Jesus through His Spirit indwells in us.
This Spirit who now lives in us cannot stand sin and convicts us of our sin so we repent and submit to His Spirit and allow Him to change us.
“I will never leave you nor foresake you”
If we succumb to a temptation that leads us astray God is able to make all things work to our good and to save us.

I had a former pastor whose father after many years converted and was baptized he died days later of a massive heart attack.
When this pastor took it up in prayer God revealed that his father was about to commit adultry and as God sees the end of a thing from the beginnig knew that the state of his soul at the time of the heart attack was at its apex. God in his mercy took the pastors father home.

Can a person lose their salvation? YES however if that person had a true conversion then it is extremely difficult.
Does that mean we go about sinning? No as Paul says do we continue to sin so grace can abound? NO
Christ in you is the hope of glory.
Christ who is living now in you makes sinning very uncomfortable. Those things that you used to do and enjoy. No longer can you enjoy them you slowly begin to detest them.
Salvation is a process that begins with an event.

That last bit is indeed true. But if you think in terms of the eternal now (the Kairos) then heaven is here. Jesus said the kingdom of God is at hand. How he makes that possible is by establishing a church and this Church becomes the Body of Christ. If Christ who is head is “in heaven”, then we , the Body of Christ can be said to be “in heaven” in a certain way for one cannot sever the Body from the Head. This is most especially true at Mass where heaven touches down on earth.

That I think, to a degree, is true. But this is more our hope rather than a surety. There are those who after being “born again” commit sin and we cannot say that no one has died in state of sin.

I believe this too as it is very similar to the story of St Rita of Casia’s sons.

But we cannot say that God will always save us from sin by taking us just at that point. I am sure many have died in sin.

This becomes even more possible when we think that God’s commands are being twisted such that sin is being made out to be no longer sin.

This is the reason why many leave the Catholic Church, because they find her moral teachings difficult. And yet her moral teachings are those of Christ’s. So now we have protestant churches that say that divorce, contraception and homosexuality are no longer sins.

When we leave a Church because we find the moral teaching difficult, it is a sure sign that we want to commit a sin but we want some sort of permission to do so. But those who give us the persmission have no right at all to give that permission because no one can make permissible that which God has forbidden.
Can a person lose their salvation? YES however if that person had a true conversion then it is extremely difficult.
If the answer is yes, then regardless of difficulty one CAN lose salvation. And if one can lose it, it is therefore not guaranteed. Otherwise we would say that we CANNOT lose salvation.
Salvation is a process that begins with an event.
Very well put. I would even say that salvation is a process that started the moment we fell.
