I find that though far more women go to Church than men, a much higher percentage of women than men go down the cafeteria route, as men will normally only go to Mass if serious, whereas females will if they are serious, but also are more likely to go now and again just because their family are Catholic. I’ve heard several girls say ‘I know Christianity teaches that sex before marriage is wrong but I do anyway’, but only one guy say the same.
Though at the university Chaplaincy where I used to live I actually found that Sunday Mass was mostly female, but daily Mass was 90% boys as girls were more likely to prioritise studies (then again a lot were medical students)
