Would anything make you seriously question the Catholic Church?

Racism, Donald Trump and the widespread support for him by Catholic leaders because he’s
“Pro-Life” is the final nail in the coffin for me and the Catholic Church. It’s my answer to the original question. Please reread the posts. Sigh!
Support by of Donald Trump by Catholics has nothing to do with race, as you just pointed out. You brought race into the discussion. You, and no-one else.

It seems to me that you have a bit of a BLM-activist mindset to a lot of what’s going on in America these days; the problem with that kind of mindset is that it turns its proponents into hammers looking for nails; that is, everything that they get caught up in MUST be brought around to race somehow, because that’s what the ideology tells the activists is at the heart of every bad, wrong or unpleasant thing that ever happened to them.

I’m really, really sick and tired of it.

Ethnic churches is the main reason I won’t convert to Eastern Orthodox Christianity. Still, I love my Eastern brothers and sisters. I plan on remaining independent of any branch of Christianity from this point forward. I’ll take the best from each, commune with all three on different occasions, and walk with Jesus in prayer and faith. The end!

I’m tired of being asked if I like killing unborn babies because I support Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. The feeling of being sick and tired is mutual!

Your post is racist and full of stereotypes. I’ve been reported for less. I reported you! Fair warning!😠

There is nothing racist about it.

Report me - you have that right. But reporting me does not make your position accurate, and it is not accurate.

Invincible ignorance doesn’t cover a Catholic who walks away from the Church.
What does “walk-away” mean? I suspect it means to cease attending mass and confession. Is this what we call a “non-practicing catholic”?

Your comment is racist! It conflicts with the teaching of the Catholic Church. It promotes harmful stereotypes. It’s uncharitable. It’s also off topic.

At risk at turning this into a thread on whether black people do or do not have it good in the USA and having a 2 or 3 day limit put on this thread, let’s try to get back to the topic at hand.

@glencor63, I referred to you as he previously. I didn’t realise you were female.

What’s sad to me is that you have decided to leave the Church for a reason I truly believe to be false. Your believe is basically that in some leaders of the Church being pro-Trump, who in your mind is a white supremacist, the Catholic Church has basically proven it is racist. It couldn’t be further from the truth. If anything, the Catholic Church is probably the most multicultural Church in the world (as it well should be, as the one true Church) and even if you dislike what a few of the US clergy are doing, saying, or who they support, they don’t represent the worldwide universal Church. There’s a whole world out there you know, and it has Catholics in it too, of many nationalities and races.

My posts are none of those things.

BTW - where are you moving to, if America is so bad?

Killing babies is killing babies, and they’re both on-board with it. Just saying.

You simply declare yourself independent of the Catholic Church and practice your faith accordingly. I left spiritually years ago. I left physically since the Covid-19 pandemic began because I had time to finally observe, listen, and contemplate my faith walk. There was nothing, but time. I made a final decision this month.

Other things are proportionate. This discuss is a merry go round. I’m not debating Trump vs. Biden. Actually, I’m leaving the topic. It’s moot at this point. I’ve expressed my thoughts and concerns. God bless! Seriously, I wish you and everyone well. I’ll pray for you :pray:t6:!

This happened, in Japan, I believe – March 1865, while Christianity was still banned in Japan, a French missionary discovered hidden Catholics in Nagasaki. For more than 200 years they had kept their faith in secret and lived without any priests.
That’s wonderfull that they kept their faith for so long with no official cult. That’s sad they had no clergy.
It was an amputated Church from its head.

The declaration is kind of a virtual thing I guess. A bit like a person says “I reject the US - I’m a citizen of the world”! And I guess the change in the practice of your faith would be to not attend mass, or to at least reject the notion of the mass as meaningful. Alas - I think this is what’s called “a lapsed Catholic” or similar.

Sigh, whatever!

“There are none so blind as those who will not see”.

Oddly enough, you’ve proven my point about crying racism: you were very quick to accuse me of racism, despite the fact that there was nothing racist about my posts. The speed with which you accused me of racism shows how quickly that gets trotted out when someone doesn’t like what’s said to them.

No…I went through enough trouble converting to Catholicism. The Catholic church is stuck with me 😇
