If there is no superiority involved in the position of “There are two rites in the Church, O.F. and E.F., and I like (pick rite) better”
Then there would be no need to even discuss the topic.
Seriously, do people get all wound up about blueberries and strawberries? Which is better. . oh wait who cares?
OK, how about cats and dogs.
There are cat people and there are dog people, and there are some who like both ‘equally’ and some who don’t like either.
But do dog people routinely go around and call cat people ‘secret Egyptian cultists’ and say every cat should be drowned?
Do cat people routinely go around and say dog people smell each other’s butts and that all dogs should be sent off on the nearest ice floe to Antarctica?
Do people who like neither cats nor dogs even bother to comment about Internet chat on same with more than a ‘meh’ or a jocular, “Give me my ball python”?
Do people who like both cats and dogs get ticked off by both ‘lovers’ and told that the defense of ‘one’ makes them into haters?
People can get pretty passionate about loving their ‘furry children’ etc but it takes “Latin” or “Vatican 2” to bring out the venom and the vitriol and the honest-to-god HATRED of somebody whose ‘choice’ doesn’t match yours. . .
