Known for his hospitality,
Saint Meinrad offered charity,
To anyone who came in need,
Even the thieves, who came with greed,
And killed that humble solitary,
Whose home became a monastery,
Einsiedeln Abbey continues to thrive,
Thanks to the saint of post 235.

He was a holy man who lost his life and gained heaven. He lives now in the joyful presence of God.

Have a blessed day!

Saint Vincent Pallotti worked to bring,
Hope to all those suffering,
This priest of Rome, he faced detraction,
But stayed devoted to Catholic Action,
He helped all those of lesser means,
As founder of the Pallottines,
A model priest his life depicts,
Our saint for this post 236.

A great example to us all, helping the less fortunate.

Have a blessed day!

Today, Saint Lufthild bring to mind,
Her step-mom treated her unkind,
And after years of cruel abuse,
She ventured forth as a recluse,
She showed God’s love to all she’d meet,
Though she was living on the street,
Her suffering’s done, she’s now in Heaven.
Our saint for this post 237.

She is a great example of how those with a difficult path in life can still find, and share, God’s mercy and love.

Have a blessed day!

Saint Francis de Sales deserves an ovation,
For the way he dealt with the Reformation,
When others could only their anger vent,
This bishop preached Love wherever he went,
Defending truth in a gentle way,
A lesson our world could use today,
When some would make a virtue of hate,
Our saint today for post 238.

Saint Poppo almost took a wife,
But chose instead religious life,
He left the army and took the habit,
And became a Benedictine abbot,
A friend to King St. Henry, who thought,
The he should lead at Stavelot,
And there you’ll find his holy shrine,
Our saint for this post 239.

A strong faith ran in his family, as his mom became a nun after he was grown. Let us pray to grow in our faith so that we can lead those around us to Jesus.

Have a blessed day!

Twenty-one monks left Molesme one day,
And founded the Cistercian way,
Alberic was one of the first to go,
And he was named Prior of Citeaux,
Then Abbot of that monastic jewel,
Where he restored the Holy Rule,
And nine years later, he was dead,
Our saint for my 240th post in this thread.

His search for God’s peace was not easy, but well worth the journey. May we all find God’s peace on our own journeys.

Have a blessed day!

Our popes have often been Italian,
Like our 67th pontiff, Saint Vitalian,
Who kept the East and West from fighting,
And saw the English Church uniting,
Which all was easier saint than done,
Our saint today for post 241.

Apropos of nothing, I just placed a pickup order from Kroger, which I will collect after work tomorrow. Included in my order are ingredients to make Italian stuffed peppers. (while we’re talking about Italian stuff)

Of Saint Thomas Aquinas, what can I say?
He affected the Church in most every way,
That Dominican teacher, of intellect vast,
Many still consider his thoughts unsurpassed,
His Summa Theologica, more than 3,000 pages,
Surely ranks him among the world’s foremost sages,
For all that he left us, our gratitude’s due,
Our saint of the day for post 242.

Saint Thomas Aquinas is one of the great theologians of our Church. We owe much to him and what he did, and he did this out of love. Let us also love God and our fellow man as well.

Have a blessed day!

High morals, without compromise,
That’s the way of Saint Gildas the Wise,
Who lived in Scotland and in Wales,
Then off to Brittany he sails,
To leave the world of sinful delusion,
And live as a hermit, in seclusion,
Way back in the sixth century,
Today’s saint for post 243.

He spent the last years of his life preaching, sharing the Good News of our salvation through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Let us all also share the Good News to those we encounter.

Have a blessed day!
