Thank you @Edmundus 1581 for your kind words. Indeed, the daily poetic musings of @christofirst are a daily inspiration, and help me to continue to grow in my faith.

God bless!

He is indeed building faith by informing us of the life and virtues of so many different saints.

Thankyou also for your thoughtful commentary. It very much enhances the thread.

Blessed Richard Rolle, we all should know,
Though his Feast was several months ago,
A hermit who wrote of mystical scenes,
And chaplain for a convent of Trappistines,
His early use of English prose,
Shows how one’s sense of God’s love grows,
A way of prayer he clearly knew,
Recall him with post 252.

For this 248th post, we raise,
Our thoughts to the bishop and martyr, Saint Blaise,
Who was waiting in prison, his fate well known,
When a lad started choking on a fish’s bone,
And using two candles his mom did procure,
St. Blaise saved his life: a miraculous cure!
So today we interrupt his Heavenly rest,
By asking his prayers and having throats blessed.
A year ago I had my throat blessed on this feast day. I had been suffering from frequent laryngitis for about 18 months. I haven’t had any throat problems since then, except for symptoms from the occasional cold. I am so overwhelmed with God’s healing touch!

Blessed Richard Rolle, I did not know until today thanks to your poem. May I follow his path of growing closer to God.

Have a blessed day!

Soldier, mayor, and priest he was,
We honor Jerome Emiliani because,
When orphans had nowhere to stay,
He would not look the other way,
His Congregation of Regular Clerks,
Ran hospitals, shelters, and other good works,
Till sickness ended his ministry,
He’s our saint today for post 253.

As a soldier he was captured and place in prison. This gave him time to think and to pray, and this led him to realize his true calling. He dedicated the rest of his life to serving God, and today is the Patron Saint for orphans. Let us take the time each day to pray and to follow God’s call.

Have a blessed day!

The early Christians suffered long,
Like Apollonia, who stood strong,
When tortured for the faith she had,
She gave her life, and she was glad,
To give till she could give no more,
Today’s saint for post 254.

She stood strong, as you noted, in her faith in our Lord and Savior. Let her actions be an example for us all when we are threatened because of our faith, knowing as she did that Jesus is ultimately victorious.

I’m drawn to the Benedictine way,
So I’ve been waiting for this day,
Saint Scholastica, shining jewel,
Her brother Benedict wrote the Rule,
Once a year, the twins would meet,
And she performed an amazing feat,
When Benedict tried to go away,
She roused a storm to make him stay,
Her memory now I keep alive,
Today with this post 255.

As recounted by Saint Gregory the Great, Saint Scholastica did not want her brother to leave their spiritual discussion so she prayed to God. When a storm broke out so that he could not leave she told him that although he would not listen God did. Let us take great comfort in knowing that God always listens to us.

Have a blessed day!

His patronages are numerous, including against throat disease. In this time of year when sore throats abound, he should be quite busy answering our prayers.

Have a blessed day!
As a singer with an aging and often dry throat, I should be praying for St Blaise’s intercession, and next year should make a point of attending the blessing of throats Mass (Feb 11).

When a storm broke out so that he could not leave she told him that although he would not listen God did.
In the monastery, the sisters always said that God heard her prayer because she loved Him more! 😂

And that was the last meeting (on earth) of these two holy siblings.

A soldier, and a friend to kings,
Saint Benedict Aniane was many things,
But we remember him today,
As restorer of the Benedictine way,
While other monks sought relaxation,
This wise abbot brought regulation,
The Holy Rule to re-affix,
Our saint for this post 256.

Also, have a most blessed feast day of Our Lady of Lourdes!

A most blessed feast day to you also, @christofirst. Between the Saint of the day and our Lady of Lourdes we have two great examples to follow.

Have a blessed day!

The Servite Order did begin and grow,
Thanks to Saint Buonfiglio Monaldo,
Who once received a Marian vision,
And became, thanks to that apparition,
A hermit, and then a missionary,
First superior of the Servants of Mary,
Those Holy Seven whom he led,
Our saint for my 257th post in this thread.

Blessed are those who receive a Marian vision. Blessed are all of us who have received the gift of life. May we use that gift to share our blessings with the less fortunate.

Have a blessed day!

Saint Martinian the Hermit, so they say,
Would not let passion lead him astray,
One woman tried to become his wife,
He led her instead to monastic life,
When another showed up in his location,
He encouraged her in a hermit’s vocation,
This steadfast saint we commemorate,
Today with this post 258.

Impressive, not only did he not allow his passions to get the best of him but he also put others onto a better path. Let us be like him in helping both ourselves and others to the best way of life.

Have a blessed day!

When people say, “Will you be mine?”
Today on the Feast of Saint Valentine,
Recall this priest and martyr’s devotion,
Was more than just a fleeting emotion,
His faith in Christ was truly graced,
Even when the sword he faced,
May all who read post 259,
Be blessed by good Saint Valentine!
