I looked on what we would need to be at home because of the virus. It turns out that I don’t have to go to the store as I have it. We do live a distance from stores that is one reason we have everything we need. Bread Milk and eggs are the only thing we buy regularly. Eggs we buy from a friend. Hope everyone is well

Life is just plain weird here in Denver, Colorado.

We’re to keep to ourselves, can’t go work, but it’s all right if we go for bike rides or walks along the trails or in the parks. It’s like everyone’s on some sort of bizarre, isolationist vacation.

Praying for everyone’s health and safety. 🙏

Just checking in again so I don’t forget about this thread.

I know @christofirst is busy taking care of his mom these days, so his daily poems are on hiatus.

Here is my contribution to this cause. You’re welcome.

Saint Margaret Clitherow hid the good priests
From English authorities who killed her — eek!
They pressed her to death, this “Pearl of York.”
Now keep your germs to yourself - don’t be a dork.

 It’s a work of beauty, no? 🤩

Shouldn’t you be setting this to music? 😄
The biography of Saint Margaret Clitheroe was my first saint biography and made a strong impression. The courage of those who sheltered priests and sought to practice their faith at the risk of their loves is awe inspiring.
Saint Margaret Clitheroe, pray for us!
Amen.

You guys are too much…LOL! Here we can get out and keep our distance from others. We can wave at neighbors across the street. Today I walked up the hill across the street where my young neighbor was selling some GIANT rabbits… I forgot the type… oops! But it was a beautiful day and good to be out!

Hey Petra22,
Are you in charge of covering for christofirst with an ode to our saint for today?
I loved Gertabelle’s way of being supportive and thought it might be cool to come together as a community to support him until life calms down a bit.
Christofirst -I hope your mom is doing better.
Saying an extra prayer today for you and your family-to Saint Raphael, Archangel.

@Petra22 would do very well, I’m certain. @DoGodsBidding1 has always shared a lovely bit of wisdom on each poem. Perhaps he could try his hand at a poem or two as well.

And what about you, @jeannetherese , do you think you might throw your hat into the ring as well?

Now, I know you’re probably all intimidated by the exquisite stylings of the poem I shared yesterday. But rest assured that no one here expects anyone’s poem to be as good as mine. Just do your best, darlings, and we’ll all applaud your efforts.

😂

Here, I’ll even get you started. Here’s today’s Saint:

Oh, and don’t forget the Pope’s special blessing today! It’s at 11:00 am MDT. Your time may vary. 😄

On this day, March twenty seven
We honor Rupert, saint in heave.
Bavaria he evangelized,
then on to Austria, what a prize!
Where, a cathedral he did found
with holy places all around:
Nunnery, convent, Abbey too,
With God’s help these buildings grew.
As missionary, Abbot, bishop,
he led his flock in faithful worship,
Then Easter Sunday, Christ our Lord,
Called him home to his reward.

Saint Rupert’s path to sainthood included continuing the missionary work of Christ, and it also included a life of prayer. For those time such as now when we can’t share the Good News with others, let us spend time in prayer, building up our relationship with our Lord and Savior.

God bless.

Thanks everyone for keeping this thread alive!

Gert, you really should become a comic poet! 😁 You’ve surprised me!

This is awesome! 🏆

When I read his biography, I was trying to figure out how to rhyme with Worms!

Really well done. Can’t wait to see what someone creates today. 👵🚬

I still have lots of contact with people via social media and through videos to my students. So I would argue that our words and actions can still be salt and light during this time - whether it’s checking up on others, making a donation if we’re able, sharing a smile or kind word (from a distance)… There are so many ways we can make a difference during this time. And those acts of love share the love of Christ and the good news of the gospel.

I love bunnies. I have a wild one living under a stump in my yard and feel quite protective towards him. He brings peace with him when he come out to nibble; probably because I don’t grow lettuce and things I need to defend from bunnies.

Volunteers for today? A most appropriate saint:
St. Conon of Naso - Saints & Angels - Catholic Online
I’ll give it a go a little later. But I’m going to focus on Saint Tutilo. He was a monk, artist, musician, and composer. I am a composer and musician, so he really speaks to my heart. He is also the patron Saint of speech therapists, and I work in a school with dozens of children with speech problems.

Maybe we should each pick a Saint and have a go. 😄

Fabulous! I can’t wait to read it!
I’ll bow out for today and maybe a groups of us can volunteer to rotate through.
I’ve always loved reading Christofirst’s Saint of the Day poems and DoGodsBidding’s responses. Lending a hand feels really good (but I’m not confusing my meager talents with those of the master.) :1st_place_medal:
Let’s see if we can get a few more volunteers. I can take Sunday, while we see who else might like to help.
Take care and may the saints pray for us and God bless us, each and every one.
Amen.

I don’t argue your point at all, I agree with you. We are called to be Christ in the world around us, and for those who are quarantined due to the current situation can still reach others using other means. Indeed, how we respond to this situation can be a good example to others, and using some of our new-found time praying is one of the ways we can do this. I do have concern for the older shut-ins who are now more isolated for the moment, many who are not big users of social media, and that is one group we can pray for. For those who do use social media, as you noted, we may have more opportunities now to share the Gospel message of our risen Lord.

God bless.

The Laudate app lists a number of Saints for each day. It is a great source of information on the Saints, and just reading them is inspiring.

Thanks for the reminder to reach out to our older neighbors, friends and colleagues. They may not use technology much, but they certainly have phones. It would be simple to make a phone call and say hello and check in.
