Any teens discerning vocations?

Thank you. Attending Mass in a couple of hours celebrated by my Cardinal Archbishop. Such a blessing on my birthday, especially as only last night he celebrated the Vigil Mass at my parish.

As I have said in another thread, last night I attended Mass celebrated by the same cardinal and with the Cardinal Archbishop Emeritus sitting next to him.

Such a funny feeling being a few metres away from two Cardinals in red Zucchettos (red hat the cardinal wears).

I am very lucky, but whether it’s a Cardinal-Archbishop or a humble Jesuit missionary priest, I still received the body and blood of Jesus Christ.

It’s so amazing to want to attend mass on your birthday. Most teens would want the complete opposite! I’m glad to hear that it was an extra special mass too 😀 and now that you said it, going to mass does sound like the greatest possible celebration of a birthday.

Prayers please! I am anxiously waiting to get an email from the Sisters of St. Joseph the Worker.

I know this sounds unbelievable, but today I turned up to altar serve at the Saturday Vigil Mass. And His Eminence was celebrating again (I thought it was just a normal Mass). And I was serving by myself. His Eminence even asked my name and thanked me for serving at such an important Mass afterwards. What an experience.

Here in New Zealand we are terribly informal, but I still find it hard to believe that I have had such an association with a Cardinal, especially for a teenager.

Just wanted to share.

God Bless you, Your Eminence!

Wow, you’re getting a lot of great experiences! I suppose my most exciting thing was that I received absolution for the first time. So for the first time in a long time I’m in a state of grace. I’m pretty sure I’m still in it too (I’m a bit scrupulous.) So that’s great, hopefully I can make use of it.

I am very lucky. The reason why is because I live in a city that
  1. Has 420,000 people
  2. Of whom around 10% are Catholic
  3. Of whom very few attend Mass.
  4. Our cathedral is being earthquake strengthened so my parish church is the pro (Temporary) cathedral.
  5. This means all the important Achdiocesan Masses are held in my parish.
  6. And my Archbishop is a cardinal.
  7. And I was on the altar serving roster quite regularly.
All of these ‘ifs’ mean that coincidentally, I am very lucky and that I get to see His Eminence a few times each year.

Confession is amazing. I only get to go every couple of months. I’m never in mortal sin (my scrupulosity lead me to falsely believe I was and it made my life very hard) but it’s always good to confess venial sins.

Yes, be careful about scrupulosity. I have suffered a lot because of it and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

@catholic03 it’s crazy to think that you are only 16, it goes to show how much I have to learn I think, especially since I only began my studies into Catholicism a few months ago. Are you a cradle Catholic?

I’m a senior in college and my girlfriend is my best friend! 🙂 We are planning on getting married in 2.5 years. I’m called to marriage 🙂
