They’re not wearing masks, that was the point of this conversation. He’s told them that people wear masks to show they don’t like him rather than for Covid protection.

Mike, what I think is that this particular virus is not well understood; and is being researched in a panicked and rushed fashion, in the desperate hope that a vaccine will be found - which may never happen. At this point no one can even credibly say that getting it renders one immune in the future or if so for how long. It is a virus that jumped from animals to humans at best, and at worst is a weaponized virus that came from a Chinese lab. It is also undeniable that the Chinese have lied to the world about it.

Will a mask help? In all probability…yes, it will IMHO. In all likelihood. Why? Because masks will almost always help prevent the spread of most respiratory viruses, which COVID-19 is merely one of many, assuming they are worn correctly (tight seal over nose and mouth).

About what? All he’s said is “it’s tired rhetoric “ without identifying either the alleged rhetoric or how viruses spread.

You’ve indicated you understand masks can help prevent the spread of viruses, but won’t wear one.

Amazingly, the Catholic Church is considered a bastion of intellectual thought. One would never guess from this thread.

To be honest, I don’t think you started debating. To debate one has to present ideas and reasons behind them. If you had said something like masks are stupid because it’s shown that they don’t prevent the spread of viruses, then linked to a study, it would be something. You’d be wrong, but it would at least be presenting an argument and defense for said argument.
 
It appears this really may not be quite as big disaster as was feared. Turnout isn’t that great.

Well at least we can agree on the slogan. After the last four disastrous years, we do need someone who can make America great again.
 
See the thing is you have so many studies and experts on both sides with contradictory facts. Either both sides are wrong, one side is right ir the other is right. There are no other logical options. And if you look the SCIENCE isn’t settled.

Then I don’t see what the problem is. Just because masks aren’t the be-all-and-end-all of stopping Covid 19 doesn’t mean we shouldn’t continue to wear them to at least do what we know can help curb its spread.
