So where are all these american catholics that feel the way Biden do? Sure ain’t here in South Carolina. Oh we have the occasional one. Most folks I know think Biden and others should’ve LONG been excommunicated.I’m glad to see some charity towards Biden in this thread. I think Biden is a great representative of the American Church as a whole. Sad though it may be, a majority of American Catholics share Biden’s un-Catholic views on some key teachings, so he represents the American Church in that way, but also, Biden is willing to share his feelings about faith on a national stage. What a humble, honest message to send to Pope Francis by Biden’s presence: “Your Holiness, here is the American Church, not perfect, but willing to be honest and open about our feelings, and here to listen to what you have to say.”
**Biden and Mr. President Obama both support abortion on demand. Biden, even though He is a Catholic, still marches to the tune that he is pro-choice. Not only would I not invite Biden, but I would publicly excommunicate Him, Pelosi and Sebellius. Biden supports child murder all the while the Church teaches the total opposite. For Him to recieve Communion in this state, even though I cannot fully judge what is in his hear,t is terryifying to say the least !!
Biden is setting a poor example for Catholics in the U.S.A. The man has to change his tune or he is no Catholic. He cannot be in support of child salughter via planned parenthood and abortive/contraceptive healthcare and still be a Catholic. What kind of message does this tell the Holy Father? Just today the Holy Father (Bless His Heart) openly declared “Abortion as a death penalty to the unborn” and here you have a man who is represting the U.S.A and arguably American Catholics with a record that is gallons deep in the blood of aborted children. No, this man until He changes the tune of his march and fiddle, is no Catholic. Yes, I went there**.
I completely agree with you. I was just trying to say it less bluntly. But more power to you!Forget it, Biden won’t listen. Hes tied into the love and lust of power and politics to even honestly care. IMO, this is an embarrasment of US Catholics. I would not want a man that supports the holocaust of the innocents to represent me to His Holiness. This is a bold, two faced lie on the part of the administration and to think that they even have the nerve to do this on the international scene is embarrasing, horrendous, scandalous and ridiculous.

When you conscious is seared, you fear nothing and I will never forgive Georgetown and Notre Dame for allowing this man to speak at their campuses.Forget it, Biden won’t listen. double facepalm! Classic!
Nope. Bush didn’t go for Benedict and Carter didn’t go for JP II or JP I. In fact, a president has never gone to see the pope right after being chosen.Typically the president would do it I think, but he is blowing it off and sending Biden.
**Notre Dame should have been stripped of its Catholic title a while ago. It is an insult to the Blessed Mother. I will never forget how Notre Dame had the nerve to call the police on an 82 year old CATHOLIC PRIEST FOR PROTESTING ABORTION!! I couldn’t believe how outrageously they tied (probably commited sacrelige in the process) The poor priests hands behind His back, and not only that, He was 82 years old!!When you conscious is seared, you fear nothing and I will never forgive Georgetown and Notre Dame for allowing this man to speak at their campuses.![]()
Good question, I don’t know. Although I trust this isn’t the end of Obamas devilish crockery. More where that came from…It’s bad enough that Honey BoBo’s show is now being showen in Europe… Now Biden is going to represent the U.S. at the pope’s installation. How much lower can we sink as a nation!?!
Not sure, but he will certainly have more of an opportunity to listen while he is sitting in front of the pope than he would be back in Washington. Everyone agrees that this pope has a different style, a different way of conveying the message than most higher-ups at the Vatican. Pray that something Pope Francis says strikes a chord! But isn’t that the problem? We are not perfect… but is Biden really going to listen to what Francis says?
Agreed. No one person is going to perfectly represent the whole American Catholic Church with his or her personal viewpoints. To clarify, Biden’s views are more in line with a statistical majority of American Catholics than most. I’m not saying I like it that way any more than you do, I’m just telling it like I see it.There are many on this forum who will definitely not say that Biden represents their views.
I agree with you that disobedience to the Church is sinful and can be gravely sinful. But I am not going to say that Biden’s public sin of disobedience is any worse than my own private sins, or worse than anyone else’s sins. You state he has “un-Catholic views” on “some key teachings” isn’t obedience one of the most important things?
**Correct, however this man is a public example and thus also causes the sin of scandal. **Not sure, but he will certainly have more of an opportunity to listen while he is sitting in front of the pope than he would be back in Washington. Yes! We know Pope Francis said he would deny Communion to politicians supporting abortion or issues contrary to Church teaching. I so want to see this!!I think that Pope Francis should take the opportunity to publicly excommunicate Biden as soon as he meets the American delegation. Biden, after all, should have been excommunicated long ago.
I meant no such comparison, my apologies. No one person is a perfect model of the 78 million members of the Catholic Church in the United States, Joe Biden especially. What I was trying to convey is that a disturbingly large percentage of those 78 million people who identify themselves as Catholic - some polls say around half - are far closer to Joe Biden’s ideology than to Timothy Dolan’s.**
to compare me to a pro choice should-be-excommunicate is insulting to say the least. **
two bishopsThank you.
I mean really…have we gotten to a point where we attack other catholics as not being catholic enough? In that case why was Paul Ryan offered up as a replacement when he proposed a budget that the bishops said was immoral?
Its simple. Biden is the 2nd highest executive in the US and he’s Catholic…end of story.
