So where are all these american catholics that feel the way Biden do? Sure ain’t here in South Carolina. Oh we have the occasional one. Most folks I know think Biden and others should’ve LONG been excommunicated.

Biden is setting a poor example for Catholics in the U.S.A. The man has to change his tune or he is no Catholic. He cannot be in support of child salughter via planned parenthood and abortive/contraceptive healthcare and still be a Catholic. What kind of message does this tell the Holy Father? Just today the Holy Father (Bless His Heart) openly declared “Abortion as a death penalty to the unborn” and here you have a man who is represting the U.S.A and arguably American Catholics with a record that is gallons deep in the blood of aborted children. No, this man until He changes the tune of his march and fiddle, is no Catholic. Yes, I went there**.

Is that meant as an insult or joke, because I took it as both. Apart from the luck of not having any liquids in my mouth to spray on the screen in ironic laughter, this is insulting. I am not tied into a man who believes that contraceptive healthcare, at the cost of persecuting his own Church and that abortion is pro choice matter. I find this remark insulting. I realise that we are broken sinners, Me being among them, however, to compare me to a pro choice should-be-excommunicate is insulting to say the least. **

**Notre Dame should have been stripped of its Catholic title a while ago. It is an insult to the Blessed Mother. I will never forget how Notre Dame had the nerve to call the police on an 82 year old CATHOLIC PRIEST FOR PROTESTING ABORTION!! I couldn’t believe how outrageously they tied (probably commited sacrelige in the process) The poor priests hands behind His back, and not only that, He was 82 years old!!

I’m on a rant because the current administrations policies are enough to make one ill. Politics is the worst, dirtiest, nastiest, ugliest thing that mankind ever came to know. Biden and Obama make their administration the pinnacle of political jokes, lies and horror.**
 
It’s bad enough that Honey BoBo’s show is now being showen in Europe… Now Biden is going to represent the U.S. at the pope’s installation. How much lower can we sink as a nation!?!

Not sure, but he will certainly have more of an opportunity to listen while he is sitting in front of the pope than he would be back in Washington. Everyone agrees that this pope has a different style, a different way of conveying the message than most higher-ups at the Vatican. Pray that something Pope Francis says strikes a chord!

Agreed. No one person is going to perfectly represent the whole American Catholic Church with his or her personal viewpoints. To clarify, Biden’s views are more in line with a statistical majority of American Catholics than most. I’m not saying I like it that way any more than you do, I’m just telling it like I see it.

I agree with you that disobedience to the Church is sinful and can be gravely sinful. But I am not going to say that Biden’s public sin of disobedience is any worse than my own private sins, or worse than anyone else’s sins.

To clarify, Biden’s views are more in line with a statistical majority of American Catholics than most. I’m not saying I like it that way any more than you do, I’m just telling it like I see it.

I agree with you that disobedience to the Church is sinful and can be gravely sinful. But I am not going to say that Biden’s public sin of disobedience is any worse than my own private sins, or worse than anyone else’s sins.

Reading all these posts, I wonder how Aziz, the Catholic minister who served under Saddam but was a key figure in allowing Christians to thrive there, looked in the eyes of the Vatican. Just saying.

I meant no such comparison, my apologies. No one person is a perfect model of the 78 million members of the Catholic Church in the United States, Joe Biden especially. What I was trying to convey is that a disturbingly large percentage of those 78 million people who identify themselves as Catholic - some polls say around half - are far closer to Joe Biden’s ideology than to Timothy Dolan’s.

Whether our church chooses to humbly serve and engage those people or excommunicate them en masse is not my decision to make and I will respect whatever decision the Church makes on the matter. But for my part, I pray for the former.
