We never hear too much about too much about the other 999.
In the place where Mr. Floyd will be laid to rest another police officer, a sheriff’s deputy just shot and killed another man, thinking he was a suspect. I do not look for this to make news across the nation and the world

Again, it’s made up of approximately 200 different organizations, all of which are differently minded. Claiming that they’re all invested in meaningless violence is incorrect – you’d have to review the goals and methodologies of all 200 groups to know which are specifically supportive of violence.

That was interesting.Facial recognition is so beyond me…How can you even do that. Amazing. Thanks!

Do you see a group out there? I ask that because I don’t.
I am worried because like him or not, Trump has one mode. Attack and divide. This only leaves one option. The Nixon options. Only this is not the 1960s. So I am worried.

ANTIFA is the Boogeyman. A diversion. The problem is a breakdown on a very large scale

No…stop…I can’t breathe…surely you can figure it out.

All we know of ANTIFA indicates they use violence as a common tactic to fight “fascism/far right”. If you have evidence to the contrary please produce it.

I think I’m at a loss of words with people like you making light of the violence being displayed.

If you think ANTIFA is nothing more than a boogeyman then you do not understand what is culturally and morally at stake if they were to succeed in their goals.

I am worried because Trump realizes he couldn’t bring America together even if he wanted to.
All he can do is divide it more. Since we have fires all over the TV tonight, people raging during a pandemic, it is not an exaggeration to describe gas on the fire.

Although Trump has helped in furthering the political divide he has had the help of many on the left including the last president.

“A riot is the language of the unheard.” Martin Luther King Jr. certainly wasn’t condoning violence – he was understanding its origins.
Yes, he had some understanding of why people want to riot. Yet I note that this one quote keeps popping up, specifically because it was out of character for him to even give that level of acknowledgment of violence. He abhorred and opposed violence as a method of change. His ideal was Gandhi. His method of attention was sheer numbers. Right now there is no MLK in leadership position that can help turn anger into results. If nothing else, the civil rights movement this generation highlights what a great man he was.

He was able to amass great numbers of people in peaceful protest. The only way to amass such numbers again will only be through peaceful protest. It is the only way to get the attention of those that matter without becoming deadly, diverting attention from injustice to suppression of violence.
Peaceful protest is our fundamental right, and if it worked most of the time, there would be very little rioting. Unfortunately, peaceful protestors aren’t being heard, listened to or heeded. These injustices are being ignored, swept under the rug or simply blown off.

I’m not condoning the violence, and certainly NOT the destruction of property – but as others have said here, I do understand the frustration and desperation of continually NOT being heard.

We, the people, have a right to be heard – and those in power had better start listening!

There is a difference between rightful protesting and SENSELESS rioting.

What is culturally and morally at stake is obvious by what is culturally and morally the actual cause of what you see. Things have a reason. I equate your outrage your will to ignore those reasons and replace them with self serving ones.
Outrage or not, we still have the problem. Calling it Antifa isn’t changing that. So be as outraged as you care to be. I can’t imagine it helps.

Yes, more violence is always the answer to violence.

“Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword .”

Have any abortion mills been destroyed in the rioting? Is Antifa more evil than Planned Parenthood?

This is not an either/or situation, so take your false dichotomies elsewhere.

There is a difference between rightful protesting and SENSELESS rioting.
A very important difference. And among those who are protesting out of sheer frustration, desperation and righteous anger are also, sadly, those who are looting and destroying property for the mere sake of stealing and being destructive. They call attention away from those who have a legitimate cause.

But those with a legitimate cause aren’t being listened to and haven’t been listened to for a very long time, and the injustices continue because those in power are either indifferent to their civil rights, are outright racists targeting them, or elitists who look down on the ordinary citizenry with contempt.

Multiple wrongs don’t make a right, and I feel those property owners whose businesses and cars were destroyed are entitled to be fully compensated. But, good luck making that happen. And that’s also part of the problem.

Those with insurance may or may not be able to recoup their losses, depending on whether or not their insurance companies come through for them. Those without insurance, probably because they couldn’t afford it, may be out of luck, though they shouldn’t be.

Just because you quoted it first, does not implicate our respective positions in the slightest. O
